I called 3 weeks ago to let HomePro know that my doorbell camera was not working. The tech person on the phone said to unplug it, wait for it to turn off and plug it back in. I did that, didn't work to fix the problem. I called back the next day and they scheduled an appointment for me. The soonest, 2 weeks out (12.10.22). I had no choice, so agreed to it. No one showed up or called. Here we are, 12.12.2022 and no one has called or showed up. I sent a text to my rep (I bought a Perry Home) and he didn't do anything about it either. Has not responded. Beware, I don't recommend HomePro. I'm looking to see how I can get out of the contract and find a vendor who has better customer service. read more

Context: I was building a new home and the developer contracted HomePro. Closing date was scheduled at least a month in advance, and I'd be traveling out of town for work starting a few days after closing so getting security set up was a big priority. During the initial consultation and purchase, Matt was fantastic. However everything after that has been horrible. Wound up going with other providers for everything (security, media, networking). 1. Process, scheduling, and management chaos: A week before our home closing date, a rep emailed us asking to set up a date for security activation. I emailed back within ~2 hours with dates. No response for three days despite multiple emails and phone calls (putting us at 4 days until closing - which included a weekend). Not actually the rep's fault (turns out they had a family emergency), but nobody else at the company knew anything about our status - we were told from other reps on the phone that we bought a security package that we didn't buy (and had to schedule then unschedule their installation and activation), we were told the earliest date we could activate our new home's security was in 2.5 weeks (big no go with traveling out of town)... It was a chaotic, confusing mess to sort out all with just a few days before closing. 2. No show for security activation appointment: Finally when our original rep got back to us, we were able to get an activation appointment (8am-12pm) in line with our original timeline. I took the morning off work, waited, and nobody arrived. A few minutes after 12pm I started to leave for work. As I'm backing out of my driveway, a technician arrives. Says he got lost, would have been there 40 minutes ago otherwise, that he tried to call me (no missed calls on my phone), and that it'd take 2.5 hours to setup. First off (assuming he actually did try to call) phone calls aren't the only form of communication we have if you need to get in touch with me. Call, email, text. Second, the best case scenario is they were going to show up 40 minutes before they were supposed to finish a 2.5 hour process? I couldn't take more time off work, so we once again rescheduled to the next available time ~2 weeks out. 3. Bad installation: They offer prewiring for additional PoE security cameras, priced at $165 per prewire (which is way overpriced even if they had installed it right). After their security activation no-showed, I figured "Well at least I'm prewired - I'll go buy my own cameras and hook them up before my work trip so I at least have SOME security while I'm out of town." No such luck. Turns out the $165 prewiring was literally ONLY the wires - cut off raw at the end, with no connector to plug devices into! The standard is a simple, universal RJ45 connector. It's like selling someone a car and saying the steering wheel comes separate. Our invoice line item just says "security camera pre-wiring" so I'm not sure if it was supposed to come with the connectors and they were mistakenly not installed, or if the connectors were an additional service that we didn't purchase (which was definitely never made clear and would be grifter-level nickel and diming) - but either possibility is ridiculous. 4. Bad installation part 2: The structured networking panel they installed in my closet doesn't open fully because it was placed too high (vs the plans) and hits the closet hardware. We're just going to take the door off its hinges and leave the panel exposed for now. 5. More bad management: After all the shenanigans I called the HomePro rep I'd been working with to cancel. They were very apologetic and understanding, and emphasized several times that their manager would call me back within a couple of hours because they take customer feedback very seriously and want to know what they can do better to improve. Obviously the manager never called. TLDR: Very nice individual sales people and reps (except one), but everything else has been horrendous (management, prices, installation). read more

Have had for 6 years system went down waited on phone forever to be told couldn't get tech out had to disconnect battery and wires myself. 2 days never got call from technician to fix system. Called told too busy with new builds wanted to cancel but that department too busy would call me back. They did that guy was nice but agreed they were struggling and I told him same as previous guy how can you take on more business if can't service what you have? We purchased a new construction home in The Woodlands in 2019. In 2018 I sat down in Sugarland at the HomePro Center with a sales rep named Matthew Taylor who sold us our entire home entertainment and security systems. We spent over $10,000 on our home electronic/security/entertainment systems. We closed on our home in July 2019. We have been unhappy with the Honeywell app that controls our security cameras (Honview Touch) which is not compatible with Apple IOS. Matthew knew we were Apple users and that we wanted to use HomePro's Alarm.com security system. He told me in advance that the Honeywell app was not well supported on Apple, but we didn't have another choice. In 2020 one of the patio speakers fell from the ceiling and shattered. It was not installed properly, however, we were just outside the warranty window and so had to pay for replacing the speaker and installation. Last year we had an alarm.com (the HomePro security company) video doorbell and glass break sensors installed. When the HomePro security rep came to visit us and go over our options he noticed our "security" cameras and asked why we had chosen cameras that were not compatible with the alarm.com security system. Well, we had not been given the option of different cameras, these were the only cameras that Matthew Taylor provided us as options. If we wanted cameras that integrated with the security system we would have to purchase all new ones, which we were going to do at a cost of around $1800. Especially since one of the cameras had already stopped working and needed to be replaced. We also found out we would have to replace the MVR system that controls the camera data which would be a few hundred dollars on top of the cost of the cameras. In May one of our glass break sensors failed and had to be replaced. Again, just outside the 12 month warranty so we had to pay to have it replaced and installed. Without the total cost of replacing all of the "security cameras" we have spent over $500 just to replace items that have malfunctioned roughly 13 months after install. I spoke to customer service today because I am very frustrated about having 3 items that all had to be replaced 13 months after install, plus having to replace all of the security cameras. I was told there was absolutely nothing they could for me, except to refer me to Matthew Taylor who sold me the wrong cameras. I have never had an experience this bad and had a customer service department unable to do anything to ease the pain of equipment that fails 13 months after install and a sales representative who sold incorrect equipment. They were, however, very sorry for all the inconvenience I had experienced. So now, I am starting my search for a new security company because if I am going to spend close to $3000 it will not be with a company whose equipment fails 13 months after install and who obviously cares nothing for their customers. read more

Service was great during consulting period. If the review was based on that service alone then they get 5 stars. Once the home was built and I moved in I was missing my network switch. Contacted then 4 times and heard the same promises that they will provide me with one but that never happened. I had a few Cat 6 wires that were pinched and not working. All the additional network wires that I paid extra for where not labeled to so I had to go through and figure out where all 14 wires went. Save yourself the headache and shop for better service elsewhere. read more

Just a comment for Homepro to all the people who feel cheated by this company, unite and file a lawsuit. In my case, thank God I haven't done any business with them. My wife and I are buying a house in Houston with Perry Homes and since we signed the contract, the consultant from Home Pro keeps calling me to the point where I made an appointment to see what they offered. On the day of the appointment, I forgot and received a call from a person who didn't leave their name, just a phone number with an extension. When I returned the call and dialed the extension, a lady with a very rude tone of voice answered, and in the background, there were laughter and shouting. I proceeded to tell her the reason for my call, and this person, who has no customer service skills, responded that many people work at Home Pro and if I didn't know who had called me, she couldn't help me. I asked her to please lower her voice as there was no reason for her to be yelling at me, but she continued arguing and saying that she wasn't yelling, that's just how she talks. I asked to be transferred to the Manager, who I really doubt was the actual manager, and he did nothing about it, only sent me a document via email for me to sign, which obviously I am not going to do since my lawyer said that if I don't have business with them, and even though I am buying a new house, the business is not with them but with Perry Homes. I'm going to report them to the BBB for lack of ethics, and you should do the same. Remember that we all have rights in this country, and don't let them continue to scam you with false expectations and lack of service. It's hard to earn money to be scammed like this. We had technical issues and Ryan was very attentive and proactive regarding our problem. He made sure we were satisfied with the way everything was handled. Garbage company. 1. I was told I was signing a 2 year contract, but in reality I was signing a 5 year. (Yes, my fault for not reading the million pages of confusion). 2. Cheap cameras were installed. I was told by installer that there are better cameras that can link into the HomePro app but they don't use them. Instead I have a second app which is way too complicated for a non tech person. 3. Equipment only has a 1 year warranty. When they start messing up, I was told I would have to pay to fix THEIR equipment. 4. I bought the surround sound. Also, very complicated. Asked if I could video or picture what settings he was doing (since I have a toddler with fingers). Was told directly, NO. HomePro charges $45 to reset settings. Hasn't worked in a year. 5. HomePro called and said a fire alarm went off but I'm in the house and no alarm went off. HomePro says the system needs to be reset because previous notifications are not clearing (and they don't know why). And wants me to pay for the technician. $45. read more

The business model is designed to trap people into long contracts with auto renewal language. If you call to resolve issues, they tell you it has to be in writing. If you write, they tell you it has to be discussed over the phone. The business model is designed to charge your credit card endlessly with no way to stop them. I can't say enough bad about HOMEPRO. I have been a HomePro customer for almost 8 years and the last few years with this company have been all TERRIBLE and I never write reviews... BE AWARE OF HOMEPRO SCAM. For a year my alarm installed by Home Pro never worked. An out dated glass break sensor they installed with a malfunction caused the entire system to not be allowed to be armed NEVER. When I would contact them in regards to this problem, the support staff only gave me little to no help in a so called "BANDAGE" fix up to allow my system to be active temporarily. Once these BANDAGE tips were given and I assumed the issue was fixed, My alarm would go off at 3AM several times in them morning and the police would be at my doorstep where I was fined for a FALSE ALARM because of Home Pros "VERY POOR" services and help. I kept a record of the 3 attempts from on scheduling a technician to come out to service their mess up and 2 out of the 3 attempts, which I was charged for and had a several hour window to take off work for to have what I thought would be fixed was not until the last time where they completely removed the sensor from the home. When being billed for the last attempts I spoke with a manager in regards to being billed for it and he wouldn't waive any house calls and gave no options other than take it or leave it. Basically pay the bill that we sent you or it will go to collections. Like all their customers are stuck in either 2 options a 3 year or a 5 year contract which is outrageous "BUYERS BEWARE". Anyone reading this there are many other great companies out there that offer yearly plans or month to month at a lower monitoring rate that I am using for my new home. I was paying close to $50 a month in monitoring services when I found out that there were other great companies out there that are half the cost for the same services with even FREE equipment for signing up. Home Pro has completely lost my business and hopefully others from this review as well from today's recent encounter when I CLOSED MY ACCOUNT FOR GOOD. They even had the nerve to tell me that if I were to use them for my new home that I would continue paying for the 6 to 8 months not owning a home because of their POOR CONTRACT until I moved into my new home. So instead of keeping a loyal client and FREEZING the account until I move they will charge me for a home I no longer own. They made me pay over $1,000 when the first customer support team member offered me to pay even less than that to close my account, but when she transferred me over to billing she lied and stated the other lady offered me to close at $1,300 and I even went over the SMALL discount offered with the first support member and the FINAL PRICE she even repeated back to me. Which now I wouldn't even consider 50% off that was offered to me for now having to fork out over $1,000. Home Pro is so desperate to take anyones money that even after 8 years of being a loyal client, they still had the nerve to charge me that crazy amount of money to close my account. The day before this review, they had an unannounced sales member stop by my home to try and sell the new home owners, but my wife was home to STOP them and trick the new owners into signing up. Thank goodness they're smart enough to continue their services with their old provider. Im sure Home Pro will contact me and offer me some unrealistic BS and not remedy the issue of stealing peoples money. Thank you Home Pro for showing a first time home buyer what NOT to look for in a A/V and Alarm service company. Anyone reading this review you DO NOT have to use your builders "PREFERRED" A/V and Alarm company that at the time of being first time home buyer was tricked by this SCAM into because they did their POOR prewiring in the house. I'm very disappointed with the Customer Services provided by Homepro. I literally just had a rep to answer the phone by saying "What you got"..... I asked, is this how you answer the phone? the response was "my bad, my caller ID isn't working correctly"..... but that's not my primary concern. I took the day off from work for the installation of our home theater only to be informed there was a mix up and somehow they didn't have the right size monitor. The size we ordered was on back order but we would bought the wrong size tv screen out and then promised we would be moved to the front of the list for the next installation. The next call was to confirm the installation 2 weeks out. Totally unacceptable....I took an entire day off from work for NOTHING!!!! There is a material gap in Communication between the techs and Management. After calling in and requesting to speak with a member of Executive Management, I was advised the was no phone number only an email address. I feel like we are just a number and these unprofessional people could care less. The managers try to patronize you and offer a $50 gift card as if that will suffice for gross negligence, poor communication and not honoring prior commitments. Save yourself the time, money and frustration by partnering with a professional company that cares about their clients honor commitments. read more

Updated- I contacted the number listed to address my concerns. Once again the rep was rude and unwilling to work with me. To date, I still do not have this contract they keep referencing. When I told the rep I would need to escalate the issue he said "you will just be dealing with me again". He openly agreed they would not work with me. This is the worst security service experience I have been through. FYI: you can ignore their canned message about wanting to help when you negatively review them. They are not interested in helping; they only want someone else to put a spin on your situation. I have been in contract with HomePro for 5 years. I called to cancel at the end of my term and they would not cancel the contract. They said I must auto renew for one year because I didn't call 60 days in advance. I called on my expiration date. My contract said nothing about an auto renewal. In fact, the poor salesman that got me to agree to the contract didn't even give me a copy of it. When I appealed their decision, the customer service rep said he didn't have a copy of the contract either. What a scam!!! This is a horrible company for alarm monitoring. Absolutely horrible service. from the time the home was being built until it came time to provide services within our new home, they have repeatedly made simple installs/requests excessively complicated. from making a mistake with conduit runs (and now i have a wall full of plates to cover their mistakes) to flat out just not showing up for scheduled services, not providing the products that were promised, nor responding to emails/calls. This company by far and away provided the worst display of customer service or organization as a company. I will NEVER recommend anyone partake in their services. looking forward to moving on to a new company for my security needs, that won't price gouge me or refuse to show up. read more

Out of the few times I've called I have only received one rep who was not rude. He was the one who set up my account, so it's frustrating that that is where the good customer service ends. I had a rep come out to fix a sensor once who offered to install a second keypad for us, which was needed. After installation he insisted that the payment had to be made in cash and did not provide me with an invoice. Which is incredibly shady. When my alarm is sounded sometimes the police do not come, sometimes they do but it can take 1-4 hours for them to show. There is no rhyme or reason as to when the police are notified. Sometimes my alarm sounds for just a few seconds and sometimes it sounds for over a minute, but it's anyone's guess as to when the police will actually be called out. I submitted a request online 11 days ago for an invoice for my services to be sent for my insurance company. No response in the 11 days, so I called only to have an incredibly rude rep insist that my account has been closed since 2015. Which is interesting given that I moved in in 2016 and they bill me monthly. Also, I apparently signed on for a 4-year contract, which I do not recall doing, and getting out of it is nearly $500. I would absolutely NOT recommend this company to anyone. read more

This company is crooked! Run as fast as you can. They take advantage of you because while you are purchasing a new house and signing all this paperwork at each appointment, they take advantage that you aren't reading every single word. No one on God's green earth would agree to sign a 60 month contract. I barely know what I'm going to be doing tomorrow, next week, or next month. Much less in five years. When I signed up, the person we worked with was summarizing each paper in order to make the process faster. I wish I would of sat there and read every little word instead of rushing me to go scam the next client. I was going to keep using them for the 60 months to avoid spending extra money on cancellation fees but nah. I paid it just to get away from this dishonest company I don't trust. While going through the cancellation process, I asked the employee who I was dealing with to send me a signed copy of my contract. He ended up sending me a copy of someone else's contract with their credit card info on it. How do I know they aren't sending my information to someone else. So dissatisfied!!!! I wish I could get my money back!!!!! After searching them and reading other reviews, I'm not the only person they have done this to. read more

Was looking forward to using them through my new home builder for the home theater. Prewiring seemed to go fine, but the service and interaction with them as a home owner is frustrating. I have had to purchase several "extra" pieces of equipment to get my home network setup correctly were unnecessary and the wrong equipment. They are expensive and not helpful. The receiver and universal remote is limited and outdated. The home owner is not able to program, add devices, etc because of the software specific to Damon (the receiver). To add anything that was not there on the initial setup is an additional charge of $125 minimum. My plan is to sell their equipment and replace with a better system. Dont use them. The builder needs to do something else. read more

Really wish I see other people's reviews before I started my service. As they said, I want to give this company ZERO star if yelp allows me to. This company is a cheater. My builder pre-wired HomePro system in my house and their sales person came to my house several times trying to activate the service. They told me clearly that my contract is one year and after that I could cancel the service anytime. So I activated the service. Now when I'm trying to cancel the service, they told me that my contract is FIVE years and I have to pay $650 early termination fee if I want to cancel!!!! Shocking!!! The sales hid the part stated "the contract is 5 years" on purpose! That is totally unacceptable! I will let our builder and community know as well as the Texas PUC. In the process of buying a Meritage home in the Houston area,our visit to our first design center appointment was a big disappointment, first of all you can go any time between the time you schedule your appointment with the design center to look around so you can have an idea of what you would like in your home and be better prepared for your appointment, something that i was not aware of. The process was very disappointing, I heard stories of people spending up to five hours making these very important decisions But in our case, we felt rushed and asking questions seamed to frustrate K**** with Wisenbaker. We where out of there in less that two hours with more question than we had before we got there.Then it was over to the crooks next door( HOMEPRO), these guys want to rob you blind, $2000 for one package, $1000 for other, $500 for this, $250 each of anything, when your done your looking at $ 5000 for HomePro to run wires through your home ( REALLY!!!) get out of here! they wont even talk to you about whats standard in your home, this guy made me feel like if the home came with absolutely no phone,cable or electrical outlets unless we payed for them, once you tell them your not interested, his smile and nice attitude quickly disappears and they no longer want to even talk to you, threw our file in a folder and told us NOT to contact him with questions and stuck a different sales man card in our folder and told me that i was making a big mistake.Bottom line is that Meritage needs to look at the service that Wisenbaker provides to them because they do a very poor job.By the way you don't get credit for anything you don't want, be ready to spend money, not many choices for kitchen cabinets,granite,flooring,tile and backs plash area is a mess.As far as the guys at HomePro, well lets just say that with the technology today anything is possibly even after the drywall is up, i would NOT recommend those guys to anyone,overpriced and very bad customer service.Buyer be ware, have a blessed day. read more

We bought a new home in January and part of the package that came with the house was wiring by Homepro. We decided to have the home automation package installed. The basic package has four or five lights controlled along with one thermostat control and two cameras. It is now June and the system has worked maybe one week. I thought when I purchased the system that it was an integrated system - that is, it is not a hodgepodge of equipment like a DIY system. Well Homepro does use a hodgepodge of equipment. They use Clare Controls which is only serviced by their resellers and Lutron switches and thermostats which are all wireless. This all ties back into an app on your IPAD. Note that no app exists for Android or Windows at this time. When it did work, the interface is okay, but doesn't feedback whether or not the lights are actually on, off, or dimmed. It does tell you the thermostat temperature setting and the temperature. We needed this for when we are out of town to look at the cameras, adjust lighting and temperature. Too bad it doesn't work. I am writing this as I wait for the 4th time for the service person to come and get it working again. Last time, they never showed. This is the fourth day I have taken off from work. In summary, Homepro's system is no different than you can buy online or at Fry's. I would definitely go with a local company close by your home with excellent service. Treat these home automation systems like your air conditioner. Lots of people are selling equipment and the installation and service is only as good as the person doing it. You might as well skip Homepro and the additional cost of the name and go with a local person. read more

We were new to HomePro last fall when our builder (Darling) sent us there to design the system for our new home. Randy was great and did a good job of balancing our needs with the packages / pricing available. Having lived in older homes or spec homes that lacked connectivity, we wanted to get this one right from the beginning. During pre-construction and pre-drywall walk throughs everything looked good, and so far we have no issues with the functionality. For the security activation, Vincent was very prompt, efficient and explained everything completely. read more

We're in the process of building a house and HomePro was hired by our contractor to do the low=voltage wiring - security system, TV, Cat-5 internet. I had a meeting with one of their salespeople that should have warned me about using this company. The salesman had no idea what he was doing, even after I gave him a schematic of where I wanted the lines run. So the installation was delayed almost a week while he got his bearings. Then I went to the house the day they ran the lines and a lot of the lines were in the wrong place - I had even stapled colored tags exactly where I wanted the outlets to be located, and they got most of these wrong. I spent almost the entire next day moving boxes and re-routing electric lines so as not to delay the project another week, since HomePro couldn't fix their mistakes for a week. In short, I wouldn't recommend HomePro to anyone ... their service is horrible, and their work was miserable. read more

I purchased a Skybell HD doorbell camera from HomePro to have installed, when the technician installed the equipment, he informed me that it wasn't working properly because it required a skybell digital doorbell adapter, which didn't come with the doorbell camera. The technician spoke with someone from the company in presence and the person he was talking with stated that the part was in the warehouse, and that it would be requested upon completion of the installation of my other cameras. However, when I called HomePro on the following Monday, I was told that they did not have the digital doorbell adapter. I believe that this is poor planning on the company, as they did not have the correct equipment available in order for the technician to properly install the doorbell. On another note, the technician showed me how to change the settings on the trigger detection for my other cameras, however, the level of sensitivity and target level changes automatically without me making any changes, which can be very annoying causing me to receive notifications every 30 seconds or so. read more

Horrible customer service and equipment. Mobile access doesn't work 80% of the time and hasn't worked for at least 2 months. Our builder prewired all the homes in our subdivision with Homepro and it seems as if home pro treats us as such (bird in hand). Equipment and installation is far to expensive. We were told after the contract is up we are free to choose any company we like. I'm going with another company now because the security is awful and the cameras are awful. They tried to up charge us for simple stuff such as cameras that actually record. Wow! read more

I have been with HomePro for a year of a 3 year contract. I am currently moving and am having an absolute horrible experience. For starters, they told me I didn't need to bother with equipment for they will give me new equipment in my next home. After I get to next home, they tell me I needed the equipment from the home I can no longer get into anymore. Second, the contract has to be restarted every time you move which was not explained to me when I initially signed and specifically asked if services could be transferred if moved. To get out of it, would cost me $1000 with what is left of contract. Third, they send me a new contract that is not legible; I asked for a clearer document and they said that is all they had. Now I am forced to sign a new 3 year contract I can't even read, with less services unless I want to buy new equipment, and I am stuck in this nightmare for I know I will move again within next 3 years which I will have to pay to terminate or be forced to sign another 3 years. This is completely a scam. And the SkyBell didn't even work that well. read more

The selections of equipment was exactly right. The programming worked just as it should, the team left the house clean and in good order, and the attention to detail (even cleaning the TV screens "one last time") was excellent. Everyone who has heard and seen the sound and TVs has been very impressed. Special thanks for: 1. Solving the tricky connection problem between the Cisco cable /modem and the Apple Airport Extreme. 2. Completing the programming in the Media room to allow us to control sound, video, games, Comcast broadcast, in a simple way. 3. Expediting the Revel speakers (and yes, they sound great) when we discovered that Revel shipped late. 4. Getting the games set up and working correctly (not always an easy task). 5. Keeping the house clean which made my wife particularly happy. 6. Working through the TV screen locations and the outlet locations to keep the wires hidden. 7.
