The guy who came to my house was very nice and personable. I really liked him and didn't mind him in my home or anything. However, he didn't call before he came so I often wasn't around so only the outside got done or nothing. Also, he would not do the whole house but only the places I said and then would say he would do more if I called back. But I don't want to set up another appointment. This is just a routine upkeep that I'd like done quickly and throughly. Also, it was really so simple: chemicals and knocking down outside wasp nests but leaving the spiders---- there wasn't anything special to their service. My service at my other house was much easier and more thorough and dealt with so much more and took much longer. Just not impressed and felt like I overpaid for what I received. I had their service for 3 years. Lastly--- 1) please see the message I received when I phoned the company about mosquitos. What am I paying for? Ghost ants and wasp nests?!? 2) see how many times I've requested info for tax purposes about what I paid them In 2024. Everyone wants to make a living (me, included) and I want to support local businesses but I really felt they wanted the quickest, easiest buck they could make from me. read more

The technicians are great to work with BUT, good luck with dealing with the office staff. I cancelled my service solely because of the various times that I dealt with office staff. I am sure ownership is aware because the office women have been there since the dinosaur era. I miss our tech and have undertaken the pest control task on my own and have yet to see even a single ant in the home. I give 5 separate stars ONLY for the service Technician. read more

I called to report ants in my home and Javier came the next day. He asked questions and addressed all my concerns about where the ants were entering the home and the safety of the products that would be used. Two days later I am not seeing any ants in the house. Javier has been looking after my home for 3 years. He is always smiling, professional and addresses any issues quickly. I feel confident that he knows his business well. Kevin comes to our home each quarter and not only sprays but helps identify potential areas of concern. The humidity in our home welcomed different kind of gnats. We called Sandy and she worked it so the supervisor could come to our house personally and look for himself what we were seeing. He took extra time to educate us of ways to quell the problem since there is not a pest control treatment. It looks like we are the rarity here, which is unfortunate (trust the Yelp reviews and not the google reviews) . I really wanted to like this company. My initial interaction with them before becoming a customer was great, but that's where it ended. After we purchased our home, we had many different companies courting us for our business. We ended up choosing Home Team. I scheduled service, and then day of it was canceled, which was really unfortunate. The tech finally came out to our house, got us cleaned up and dropped some ant traps off because we had a horrible problem in our house. He did say he would be back in a week to check up on the ant problem, but we never saw the guy again, no follow up appointment was scheduled. I knew they came out quarterly, which was fine by me, until I started seeing webs developing, spider sacs multiplying. I reached out to the sales person, Scott, who had been really responsive while trying to sign me up, but became much less responsive after I was a customer. I inquired to find out when our next service date was, but didn't hear back from Scott right away. Finally I heard back and was told a very vague "mid November." Given that people travel for the holidays I was a little surprised that there was no date, or even approximate date given. I followed up with Scott a few days later after walking into a spider web that was stretched across the front entrance of my door and never heard back from him. It was at that time I had enough and called prodigy. I'm not normally a fan of contracts but, they came highly recommended. While on the phone with prodigy I sent a breakup letter to Home team and low and behold they showed up on our doorstep. They did their service, if you can call it that. There are webs remaining, there are still spider sacs, which gross me out because I know those will hatch. The saddest part is it didn't have to get this bad. This finally serving is definitely not up to par, but I know Prodigy will get us taken care of. All it would have taken was communication. I don't understand how my dentist can schedule my cleaning 6 months in advance but my pest control people couldn't schedule pest control services 2 months in advance. Home Team, I am breaking up with you. I wish I could say that it's me and not you, but it's definitely you that fell short here. Even in your last service attempt on our home you fell way short of your promises. What a let down. Btw, it would be great if you would answer my request to cancel services that was sent to you. read more

No way would I recommend. The tech gave me a bill and said he checked the green termite stations. How could he when they were buried over? Even he couldn't find them when I asked. This company is more expensive than all the others and I've had better results with the new company I hired. read more

We have had home team pest defense since 2009 and it was good ... we would see the occasional Cockroach, but that was it. There was a problem with outside pests (wasps) making nests in the corners of the front side of our house and in front of the garage. I had to remove these myself because they did not. And the nests left stains on my stucco. The past couple of weeks has gotten bad. I saw three cockroaches in one week in our home. So the technician had to put some spray in our home which I really didn't care for as we have dogs. That is why we got the bug killer to go in our walls. The last straw was when I saw a cockroache in our cupboard where we keep our paper plates. I pulled everything out of the cupboard to try and find it and found bug droppings and black marks on our paper plates and on the plastic plates that we put our paper plates on. We checked our other cupboards where we keep our cups, glass bowls, etc.. and we found bug droppings there as well.. I am furious! I now have to take everything out of all my kitchen cupboards and clean them all. My husband called the technician and he said they sound like German Cockroachs I was not aware there is different bug sprays for different cockroaches. . I will be canceling our service and want our quarterly money refunded. read more

This company has the worst customer service I have encountered in a long time. They charge a little over $400 a year and only come 4 times a year. I have had 2 services from the Sarasota FL office. And still have ants and spiders inside my home. My third appointment was scheduled for 10/18/16 and they only want to spray my inside your home once a year. Their claim is the mixture is so good they don't need to. Well that is not true. My house had no bugs and I wanted to keep it that way. Their rebuttal to this is Your in FL and your gonna have bugs. At 101.00 per visit I don't think I should have to tolerate this kind of response or service. My wife and I built a home in Lakewood Ranch in 2003. We then signed up with Home Team Pest Defense. That was 15 years ago. Recently several homes around us have had a rodent problem. I called Home Team and they said they did not go into attics but that they had another company who did and they referred me to them: Tru Tech. I was dissatisfied with Tru Tech and cancelled my agreement with them. I called Home Team and was met with little emotion over this issue and so I cancelled my 15 year agreement with them. The attitude I received was "okay." That was it. No attempt to retain a client. I said to the operator, I don't understand, you seem like you don't care and she said, "Well you said you wanted your account with us cancelled and I just did that. Okay?" Never in my life have I ever encountered a situation where a provider of services would not say they wished to avoid the cancellation and were sorry the referral didn't work out. So, not doing Home Team Pest Defense anymore. Going to another company that might respect 15 years of having them service my account because Home Team sure doesn't seem to care one way or the other. Agreed worst services = no service. I paid in advance for services that I did not or barely received in Bartow. The Taexx system basically does nothing, I had to have the pest applicator come into the home to treat for sugar and fire ants. I had to call the pest applicator back to complete the job of removing the wasps mud nests. I had the applicator call before servicing and then never show up. Safe your money.
