Hometown Arcade Norwood is a really fun spot if you're looking for a quick escape and a hit of nostalgia. For about $20, you get unlimited play, which is a great deal considering the huge selection of games from the 80s, 90s, and even early 2000s. Plenty of classic arcade cabinets, a solid lineup of pinball machines, plus some fun shooting and driving games that still hold up. A few machines were out of order, likely from heavy use, but there's more than enough working to keep you entertained. The vibe is relaxed and perfect for killing a couple of hours reliving old-school gaming. They also have party rooms in the back with VR setups, PlayStation, and Xbox, which adds a nice modern twist. Even though it's a bit of a longer drive, this arcade is totally worth it. It's packed with all kinds of games: pinball, foosball, classic retro arcade machines, quirky Japanese games, skeeball, air hockey, basketball, DDR, and tons more. They made great use of the space, fitting in lots of games while still leaving room to relax, grab a drink, or eat. I appreciated the smaller details too-especially liked that many of the games had cup holders -food and hydration are necessary for all the energy to game for hours lol. read more

This was my second time at Hometown Arcade and it was a wonderful experience. My son loves this establishment and it's a great place for family fun. The prices are affordable. For me, Hometown Arcade give me a nostalgic feeling with the "old school" video games; so many memories were unlocked while playing duck hunt. My son enjoyed playing video games with his friends. Came for a birthday party and found it to be a great option for the occasion. Plenty of tables to host multiple parties in a separated room. It didn't look like they offered food but there was an option to order pizzas. The parties all brought their own stuff. In terms of games, I appreciated the variety. You had the classic arcade games mixed in with pinball machines, VR goggles, Xbox, and forenite. All of this was housed in a cool brick building that felt like a cozy basement. read more

Hometown Arcade is a very special place. There is a rotating selection of retro arcade machines, a wall of pinball cabinets, and a back room with many consoles and sofas set up. The space itself is small but packed with a lot of games and activities! GAMES: Three skeeball machines, two basketball machines, and a few air hockey tables. The rest are retro arcade games and pinball machines - there's a definitely a good mix but I wish there was more pinball machines! We didn't play any console games but there were quite a lot of different systems set up and definitely popular with kids. It's a good variety and there's something for everyone. We found this place using the pinball wizard map which is funny as otherwise I would not have heard about it. We used this same map to find a place in Chicago early this year and lamented the fact that there wasn't a similar place in Boston. Happy to discover it. They have a great pinball machine lineup and other classic arcade games. The air hockey table had a hilarious twist. Hometown Arcade transported me back to fond memories of youth at an arcade bouncing from one great game to another. The gentleman working there was extremely nice and helpful, too. Glad places like this to spread the fun of social arcade gaming. I wish them continued success and hope to return. Great spot, had a friend in town from Montana that has 6 pinball machines of his own suggested we go here. 11 pinball machines, retro 80's video games, console games, very cool layout, terrific owner and very good pricing. This was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. I will most certainly be back. Loved 007 and the Foo Fighters pinball and all the machines, but these were my favorite two machines! read more

We love, love, love this place! I'm an 80's baby so bringing my 6 yo who equally enjoys arcade games, pinball machines, driving games and playing on consoles is a dream come true for our family. We spent most of our time playing air hockey, and of course my little one beat me a few times We love this place bc it's all inclusive (aside from the claw games and refreshments) and you get to stay on the games without having to keep getting quarters to continue your game time. On top of this amazingness, Crit and other staff members here are super friendly and accommodating! Let me start by saying that I didn't think my kids were going to enjoy it as much as I did but I was wrong! They were overwhelmed in a good way and my youngest kept saying "I'm not bored dad and I can see why you had so much fun in your childhood". I would recommend anyone who had any kind of arcade experience or lack there of to not hesitate for a visit to hometown arcade. The staff are amazing knowledgeable people who enjoy seeing their customers happy. They even host parties which we are considering for one of my sons. Once you pay to get in, all the games are set to "free" and you can play every and all games. At one point I asked the guy if they had a certain game I used to play when I was younger and he brought me over to a special machine that had over 80 games loaded into the system and sure enough, the game was there! One thing I found Interesting was that my kids 13 & 11 were so drawn to the pin ball machines even though they had all the other arcades as well as newer systems like ps5, Xbox, and virtual games. It was fun to have a basketball shoot out side by side with my 13 year old basketball player son to show him where he gets it from (even though I had an extra ball but who's counting lol). There is a "play til you win" claw machine that all the kids enjoyed because they all left as winners. I also enjoyed seeing all the little prizes and trinkets throughout the place. It's going to be a new hang out for us and we loved it. The area is in an industrial side of town and there is much to explore like the shops that run through the length of the buildings with vintage clothing, records, food items, furniture, posters, comics etc etc. This is a true hidden gem! I didn't give it 5 stars because some of the games weren't working perfectly and it was pretty hot even with big fans blowing air but was manageable. Don't get me wrong. 4 stars is great. A/C and some food will make this next level for sure. The Toy Story pinball was sticking on the right paddle, the old karate game joy stick wasn't responding well, fast and the furious was hard to control due to steering lag which were minor compared to the fun we had. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS Place. I was born and bred in the 80's and this place did not disappoint. Very cool vibe. And the 80's music was a nice touch too! All the games we grew up with. A fun place for a bunch of friends to go. We laughed a lot and hit many of the games. Clean too!! The folks who work there could not have been nicer, and the price was right. $20 for endless pacman/frogger/donkeykong/space invaders/mario bros and the list goes on and on and on. The arcade is retro, but not in that good way. In the way that all the games are 1990s era with all the wear and tear you'd expect. Most game are broken, gross, and almost unplayable. I'd be okay with this place if they were cheaper but 20$ all you can play on broken old dirty games... sounded cool but after 20 mins you'll be looking around saying... what did I just pay for? read more

Looks like they just got a bunch of old games and threw them in a room. A lot didn't work. I thought it would be more..."hip" and less like I was sitting in a gross basement. Owners need to invest some money. Mix in some new with the classics. read more
