I've discovered many new…read morefabric stores in my recent time here in RVA, but no store really checked all the boxes before I walked into Quilter's Corner. Located in Midlothian, it is definitely worth the drive from wherever you are. Upon entering, you are drawn into the shop like a kid in a Hogsmeade candy store. Everywhere you look there are amazing examples of potential projects, and a wide variety of fabrics to choose from. The shop is so well organized that it makes exploration easy, if not a little expensive (Yes, before you ask, I needed that fabric - For what, you ask? Not sure yet, but I needed it!!). The staff here is amazing. Open and friendly, I never got the feeling that I was being a bother, or that I needed to rush to get all of my questions answered. Long arm quilting services, a large variety of classes, and a well-lit classroom are some of the many services offered. The folks who work here seem to love quilting just as much as they love sharing that knowledge of making quilts with those that visit. I'm excited to sign up for a class... I'll let ya know how it goes!

I have a Brother sewing machine and asked if they could repair it...little did I know it was operator error (d'oh!) but they still did find some odd things that were not performing at 100%. Good price on repair and tune up! And...my goodness the gorgeous bolts of fabric!!! A wonderful array of very good quality quilting fabric that you could also use for sewing other things besides quilting, but also a really good assortment of notions/items to help with your quilting, quilting magazines, etc. It turns out they specialize in Brother sewing machines so I will always come here now. The staff are also so very nice! And I could bring my Chihuahua inside with me it looks like!! If I could teach her how to sew now that would be really good...anyway, I really recommend this place. So many good things here for those who sew!! Oh and the parking is really good...it's a private lot shared between small businesses! #shoplocal !!

Located in the quaint, lively, historic retail district of Carytown, Merrymaker proudly holds the title of Richmond's oldest stationery shop. The space itself is small-but-mighty, with everything from locally-made greeting cards to an impressive selection of planners, calendars, and notepads in literally every shape, size, and color. They also have rack upon rack of specialty wrapping paper, and an entire corner of the store is dedicated to custom stationery. At the front of the shop, you'll find a jawdropping selection of pens (including fountain pens) in every shape, color, and price range. Of course, I couldn't leave here without a small notebook (or two), a couple of lovely postcards to send to friends back home, and the determination to start my own fountain pen hobby "someday." Bonus points for the super friendly woman at the front counter!

They have a great selection of cards, journals, pens, planners, and wrapping papers. It's one of those shops that you could leave and come back in 30 minutes and discover something new. It's curated with love. The people who work here are extremely passionate and helpful. I came here with my manager and we had a blast. She ended up getting a few postcards and a travel planner. I fell in love with a small journal I got for about $16. I loved the journal because it reminded me of the Canal Saint-Martin, I'm excited to use it for card game scoring. There is really something for everyone here. There are lined journals, blank ones, squared one, and more. There is a huge variety of planners with different layouts. It felt like they had something for every preference. Not to mention, the fanciest pens I've ever laid my eyes on. I highly recommend checking this local gem out.
