What made the experience even more meaningful was their willingness to personalize the space with a piece from my husband's family home. It was such a thoughtful touch that made the kitchen feel even more special and unique to us. From start to finish, they were professional, timely, and incredibly respectful of our space. It honestly felt like having family working in our home--they cared that much. Their attention to detail, communication, and craftsmanship were top-notch. I would recommend Barden Home Builders 1,000 percent to anyone looking to not just build a kitchen, but to create a space filled with love, history, and quality. Thank you for everything!

We had Barden come out among other companies to quote our remodel. We gave them a rendition of…read moreexactly what we wanted and they suggested price would be 30,000-40,000 closer to 40 and they were the only company that said for a full quote they would need $500 fee for their own rendition and to get the subcontractors out for full quote. We paid this and This process took over two months and their rendition was exactly what we handed them on the first day. When the process was over they came back with a final quote for 62,000 more than 20,000 over what they initially said cost would be with absolutely no changes and were not interested in working to reduce the cost. Very disappointed in them and their process especially since we had told other companies we were going with someone else and they took more than two months to essentially tell us they misrepresented their capabilities and costs. Edit after their response: they were told from the beginning the size of fireplace we wanted and that we wanted microcement. I knew that the initial verbal was meant to be non formal but $20,000 is not anywhere close. Their response also says they offered to change things, which their changes would still not have come within 10,000 of the high end of the original verbal estimate. Nothing major changed from the first day when we told them specifics of what we wanted.

I originally offered to pay by the hour and was turned down. He said he wanted to bid the snow removal for the whole job. He now wanted double his original bid. I ended up paying another company to finish the job.

We hired Better Built Sheds back in early August 2020 to replace a second floor deck and the door…read moreleading from our home onto the deck. They started work on the deck very quickly and then started talking to us about the door as the deck was underway. The door had to be custom built so Jeremy, the General Manager had his crew take proper measurements and then left a couple of door catalogs to help us pick out the design we needed. We completed that task in one day and Jeremy came over to discuss the details of the door so he could a quote and get the order in. This was right around the third week of August. The deck is completed and looks very nice although I had to pester them a couple of times to do some finish work where the painting and caulking was rough. He agreed that their deck structures are very good, but that they don't have a good finish carpenter yet and that they should do better. He finally sent over a new carpenter and finished up the deck about 2-3 weeks later and I was happy with the deck. A week goes by with no word and I text him to ask about the status of the door quote and he says that they are working on it. Over the next 5-6 weeks I contact him several times about the door and suggest that it's important to get this done before winter. He always says "by this weekend" or "I should have it by next week" and promises to get the quote and get the door ordered. I texted again 2 days ago 10/22 and today he has a brand new part-time secretary call me to tell me that he's too busy to finish my job. He doesn't even talk to me himself. That's it! Snow is on the way and I have wasted almost 3 months waiting to get a new door installed. Better Built sheds can build a good deck, but the finish work leaves a lot to be desired. Don't depend on them to do auxiliary jobs. Poor communication and no follow thru is the game there. They now rate as the worst contractor I've ever hired. Jim PS. The company is undergoing a name change and I do not know the new name, otherwise I would put it here.
