Depending on my desires this would run me between $13K and $20K. I chose to get a second opinion. A wise decision indeed. Hence, why no more than two-stars. The installation of new communicating thermostat fixed the problem for less than $800.00. Yes, the thermostat was expensive, but I saved over $12000. GET A SECOND OPINION! I live in MO WOW!!!!!! I had a couple of electrical things stop working roughly at the same time and with me working away I didn't have the time to DIY so I called these shysters. I budgeted $600 in my head. 2 guys turned up, spent an hour or so looking around then sent me the quote. Their quotes are weird. Economy quote $5700 (this means no idea what needs doing really but we will dick around for a while and charge you a silly amount of money!), Premium quote $6800 (Same definition as Economy but with bigger laughs on their end), Premium Plus quote $10700 (big laughs, lots of champagne, pretending to be busy and all contractors wearing t-shirts that say 'I'm working for Idiots'). All quotes were not including digging equipment WTF?. Second electrician came by and replaced 1 dead breaker, changed out 1 GFCI socket, reconnected 1 loose wire......$370. HILARIOUS!!!. Purchased a new furnace and ac unit in 2022 From Honeat Abes. Compressor in ac condenser went out 13 months after operation 2023. Right after warranty expired. Took over a week to teplace. Very miserable. After another 13 months of operation the replaced compressor went out 2024. Right after warranty expires. So far three days waiting to replace. Both compressors went out during the Hottest time of summer. I would definitely look at a different company than Honest Abes who sells Goodwin units. Good work and on time. We needed a plumber to install a water softener, change out the main water entrance, and rough in for new kitchen. Timing was critical. Anthony showed up when expected, did the work expertly, and with no excuses! Even fixed a minor issue remaining from the last plumbing job. Had a water filtration system supply line that burst and flooded the kitchen. Technician spent about 30 minutes "assessing" and was not sure how to reattach. Told me that the filter might be busted and he could replace. After considerable time figuring the damage and service, he informed me that he could install a new RO (reverse osmosis) system with five year warranty, blah, blah, for... drum roll $3900! When I asked him what it would take to repair just the leak, he took about another 15 minutes to figure it out and then said $600! There's a whole lot more to this story, but I advise you to call an independent, master plumber to get what you need done, not this BS run around and sales pitch! read more

My elderly mom had already paid to have her furnace, A/C unit, hot water heater, and water softener replaced when Honest Abe's convinced her to sight up for their "Gold Service" package. After charging her $4,000 for the "Gold Service" package, my mother passed away a few months later. I sold her house immediately and called Honest Abe's for a refund. I was told they don't issue refunds but the service package would transfer to the new owners. What??? So Honest Abe's got to pocket $4,000 without doing any work, nice!!! read more

Wow. So I called Honest Abe's when I was looking for someone to install a water filtering system in my sink. I was tired of doing installations myself and had a budget in mind that I was willing to pay someone else to do something. The office staff was nice but wouldn't give me a quotes unless someone came out. I agreed and a plumber came over the next day. I showed him the filtration system I bought on Amazon for $200 and where to install. A few minutes later he tells me just over $400 to install. I was flabbergasted as I knew it would take less than an hour to install. He was shocked that I argued at the cost and asked how much I expected to pay, when I said less than $150 he stated that no one would do it for that much! I told him I was not going to pay $400 and he left. Thankfully the quote was free! I then called a licensed handyman and he installed it for $40!!! On 10/17/2023 I called Honest Abe's to come take a look at my furnace as it was blowing air but not hot air. I was assigned an HVAC technician Tim Woody. Mr Woody was friendly once he greeted me and went to take a look at my furnace. Mr. Woody quickly came to the realization that my furnace and condenser should be replaced because they were 15 years old and just couldn't be fixed. I knew this was a red flag because there was nothing wrong with my condenser. Mr. Woody proceeded to give me 4 different payment options the highest totalling up to $15,877 and the lowest around $12,000. Mr. Woody asked which one I'd like to go with and I told him I'd be getting 2 more bids. His entire demeanor then changed. He used my children against me saying what are you going to do with the cold weather coming and the kids being in the house? He clearly was not happy that I wouldn't agree to an absurd contract right on the spot. Needless to say an hour later I had another HVAC company come and they fixed the issue quickly and for only a $90 service call. Mr Woody is a crook and tried pulling on my strings to sign an atrocious contract to replace something not needing replaced so he could benefit on a bonus in his pocket. HIGHLY AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. They practically scammed me out of a $100 service call and attempted to scam me for over $12,000 at the least! read more

I called because of a leak in our utility room. I was told it was a clogged drain in the shower. The tech cleaned the drain and the problem seemed to be fixed but when we came back to our lake house a couple of weeks later we discovered the water was coming from the AC drain hose. We had to have another service call from another service to find that problem and then an AC company. We were charged $250 for the call from Honest Abe's and then really didn't fix the problem. read more

Called Honest Abe's to come check a new central A/C install because installer was too busy to get right back out; without pressure testing or even fully inspecting the service guy said he needed to replace the coil (the unit); it is a brand new install; got installer on the phone during Abe service guys visit and he told us to send the guy away; he was trying to scam us and the installer agreed to come back out pressure test line and solder leak in copper line. read more

I had an outside faucet freeze up when I returned to the Lake for the spring. They responded in a reasonable amount of time and informed me what it would require to repair. We were given multiple repair options, and they were completed quickly. Very professional, knowledgeable, and know what they are doing. I will use them again for plumbing or hvac services. read more
