While another tree service said our only option was to cut down the entire tree, the Lopez team dealt solely with the broken limb. We may later lose the tree but Mr Lopez was open to working to save it, at least for as long as possible. He also showed us where it was compromised and it another piece fell, how that would happen, which comforted us to know it was far from the house and cars. He provided an estimate during the discussion and his team came the following afternoon. They didn't hurt our yard with equipment and didn't leave a mess of wood chips. There's other work we will opt to do later when the expense can be budgeted rather than a surprise. I hate that our tree was hurt and paying money for the fix also hurt! They did a fantastic job with the physical tree removal. Their crew was professional, highly skilled, and efficient. If you strictly need physical tree work, they do quality labor. ​Where They Fell Short: ​Unfulfilled Verbal Commitments: We had lower quotes from other reputable companies that would have saved our city thousands of dollars. I explicitly told the Bob Ray representative that we were choosing their higher proposal specifically because they promised a detailed canopy report covering over 2 miles of city easements--identifying problem trees and recommending replanting species to preserve our canopy. ​While the contract broadly stated a "report" would be provided, the detailed scope wasn't spelled out line-by-line because I trusted our verbal agreement. ​After having to repeatedly push them to deliver the report, what we received was a short summary covering only a small area of diseased trees we had already discussed--nowhere near the full easement scope promised. When asked to complete the agreed-upon work, they refused to remedy it because the specific scope wasn't written out in the contract fine print. ​Bottom Line: Bob Ray Company delivers great physical tree removal, but DO NOT pay a premium for their verbal promises. If they offer extra services or reports to justify a higher price, ensure every single detail and expectation is explicitly written into the contract before signing, or they will not honor it. I regret not choosing Lopez Tree Removal. They've done all of our tree work in the past and did a great job we were just afraid this was too big of a job for them. Boy was I wrong. We would have saved thousands of dollars if we had gone with anyone else besides Bob ray. The entire reason we overpaid for them was because of the report they promised. And their salesperson Dan, knew that. BEWARE!!!! If they will do this to a small city (with 800 citizens who all know about this trouble) they will have no problems doing this to anyone.

I had a chance for overtime that day, which I turned down to make sure I was home by 4:30 to meet with Jeremy. 4:30 came and went, and I was sitting around, waiting on him to show up. At 5:15 I call him and ask what is going on. He is very apologetic and saying "oh man" several times and starts talking about how bad the traffic is but says he can be at my house by 6 PM. I'm a little upset, but I agree to wait until 6 and meet with him. 6 PM comes by. . .and nothing. At 6:30, now two hours after our original appointment and 30 minutes after he just told me he'd be there a little over an hour prior, he's still not there. I call again, and he just starts saying "oh man" over and over again, and mumbles something about traffic being bad. He says maybe he can be there a little after 7 PM. No. I said no. I'll find someone else. If someone is this bad at simply keeping an appointment, and bad at communication that he can't communicate if he's going to be late, why should I trust him with a project at my home?

Julio came over to discuss the project and what I wanted done. I needed a large limb removed that had fallen and lodged on my roof. I needed the limbs over my roof trimmed back. And I needed a massive, half-dead limb removed from my neighbor's tree that covering and threatening half my deck. I'll bet it weighed in at a ton. He explained how he would do it, gave me what I considered a reasonable price, and we set up a time. With other companies I've had bent gutters, cracked sidewalks, fence and deck boards. Not with Julio. He and his crew were careful and meticulous. Everything was either handed down or lowered by rope. It was cut up, hauled through the alley, and chipped at the curb. He showed me before and after pictures of the roof. And when they left, my deck and sidewalks were cleaner than when they got here. If you're going to get estimates on tree work; definitely include Julio Tree Service in the mix.

During the project he moved an expensive piece of outdoor furniture and did not move it back after completing it, because of where and how he left it, it ended up being damaged and having to be replaced. I provided all the information to him about the original cost and the cost of replacement (which was less than what I originally paid), explained my attempts to get just parts for it from the manufacturer instead and the video of it being damaged. He never responded to my request for remedy of the damaged furniture when I sent him the proof of price. The rock work was okay. He changed the scope in the middle of the job and didn't finish one section of it, so I got pretty confused on how the final invoice amount was arrived at. From the amount of work and materials we removed from the quote midway through the project to the final product, it didn't seem quite right. Also, he didn't put the landscaping fabric under the edging, so I have a ton of unexpected weed control I have to manage now when the purpose of installing the rock was to be lower / easier maintenance because, again, I have a disability that affects my mobility. He's a hard worker I just wish he would have made things right regarding my damaged property. He told me his insurance doesn't cover wind damage and did not offer any other remedy. If he'd worked with me to replace the furniture that was damaged, I would have given him a higher rating, but as it is, this is my honest opinion of the value, quality and overall customer experience I received. I can't recommend this business at this time and will be letting the division of Yelp that oversees contractor recommendations know as well since I found him through them.
