We hired Dan to unclog an outside drain last Fall. Our driveway had turned into a lake after heavy rains. He showed us that the drainage pipe was completely filled with roots and our existing downspouts were not connected to a drainage system of any kind! He began work that day to install a new pipe for the rootbound drain and also to install /tie in a working rain drainage system which connects to french drains on our large property. I will always be grateful for these guys after today! We have a home warranty that we put in a service request for on Friday evening. No one contacted us all weekend, and when we contacted the warranty company they said they had "expedited" the request but they didn't actually do anything. I'm making a short story long, but I wanted to exhibit my frustration level at this point. I put a Yelp request in with Honest for information, and within 15-20 minutes I was talking with Dan. I stressed that we have been without a shower with three teenagers for 4 days, and without a pause he asked if I wanted someone to come out tonight. I almost cried tears of joy! Chris contacted me a half hour later and let me know his ETA, he showed up promptly, listened and asked questions about the clog. You charged me $160 to clear the drain & $120 for the video. Your offer of a $60 refund makes no sense. There was no time stipulation connected to the price of the video. How could it take you 2 hours to video it & the only usable part of the video is 1 min long. I have sent it to other companies & they all agree it's a joke and can't be used. In addition, you did not clear the whole line or video the whole line. So now 3 days later the drain is already clogged again. You can't only go a few feet in and stop. Besides paying you 280, I am now paying someone else Saturday rates to fix it correctly. Please send a full refund. If we cannot handle this amicably I will be forced to take further measures. read more

Daniel Darling was an amazing help to us. He had to come to our location around four times. We were having issues! What started as a simple septic clean out turned into a flooded basement that he was able to pump out two full truck loads of water for us. Our water heater in our basement happened to burst the night before he came. We discovered the flooded basement when he went in to to locate the sewer pipe. Once that was taken care of on our end, he came back out to locate the tank and pump it. That is when we discovered our tank was burred over 4' deep in hard ground with no manhole access. That is when he had to come back after it had been dug out. All this started while the fires/smoke were at their worst here in Oregon and he was facing a possible mandatory evacuation of his home. I can not imagine how stressful that must have been for him and his family. His work and customer service speaks volumes. I will definitely recommend him to everyone. read more

I called Dan because water was coming up through the slats of my bathroom floor. I knew it was happening when I flushed, but couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. After getting an appointment to have him come to the house 9:00 am on a Friday, I was rather disappointed that he couldn't make it to the house in time. When he did come, he was friendly and went straight to work. He dismantled the offending object and did what he could with it. Unfortunately, though he was able to tell me what the problem was, he could not be sure that what he did would fix it. Even though I had agreed in advance to pay him $75.00 for the house call he left his invoice and told me to pay the $75.00 if the his effort worked. Dan is the man! I had a few odd jobs related to draining. I called some of the bigger well known companies first, but they couldn't make time for me... I wanted the work done the next day (reasonable request right?). Anyways, Dan made time for me and actually showed up on time. Very knowledgeable and handy, polite and happily conversed with me while working. He was very upfront with me on costs and did what he could to help keep them low. Besides what I asked him to do he offered to check out my gutters, my roof is scary for me... So I said have at it! After wrapping up all 4 tasks it was time to pay the man. I am a landlord with a rental house in Newberg, Oregon. I had an emergency situation in that the tank was overflowing because the pump failed. I tried many vendors and all were out two weeks. One of the vendors referred me to Dan out of empathy for my situation. I am so lucky to have stumbled into Dan. Hi promised to get to me by the end of the day no matter how late it got. He followed through and over delivered. Because my tank was so small, he felt odd charging me full price and volunteered to reduce the charge to cover this time and plus a little bit for the pumping. I was amazed and taken back by Dan. So rare to find someone with his business ethics. I was so pleased, I asked Dan to put me on a yearly schedule to come to this rental house every year for maintenance. Its was a no brainer for me. When you find a quality vendor like this, you hold on to them. I wish I could get him to come out to my own personal house to do my septic systems as well. I won't ask him however, as I am 1 1/2 hours away and I would feel bad dragging him out here. We had our tank pumped on the 23rd of December by speedy septic. ( 5 years ago they upgraded are pump and added an alarm and risers) We had to wait over 24+ hours for them. 4 little girls not getting baths and being right before Christmas was frustrating. Our window was between 1 and 2:30 they didn't show up till after 5pm. 5 days later the septic was filling over full with water. My husband called them back and the lady said she'd have to call someone to call someone to call someone else. I found Dan at honest drain and he was here within 1-1/2hrs. He cleaned out our cast iron pipe and the tank drained. He charged us a 1/4 of the price speedy wanted and we were up and running in less than an hour. Very nice, very honest and family owned. In fact, it was so much more reasonable that I asked him a slew of questions because I couldn't understand why there was such a huge difference in the price. He answered my questions to my satisfaction, and was able to get out the next morning, and although he had to provide me with less than wonderful news, I am happy as can be that I went with his company. I don't know a whole heck of a lot about Plumbing, so it's possible that someone who is disreputable could try to work me over, but he took time to explain and discuss things as well as talk about possible solutions to address the issues with my drywells.
