Our toilet kept backing up and we were told that one of the pipes had a slight offset, causing sewage to get stuck and back up. We had two other companies come out and give us quotes, however, Smitty's was well under the cost. For reference, their price was ~500-1200 dollars less! I was a little nervous to hire them because there weren't as many reviews, but I'm really glad I did. Every review is 5 stars and I see why. You can see the repair they did in the picture. It required excavation by hand and then a pipe repair. Justin started the job, and Mario came out to look over the progress. Mario had been in the business for 16 years and seemed very knowledgeable. Our storm line malfunctioned in our front yard and was flooding the neighbor's yard. We are very happy with the work done by Smitty's. Our 1957 home had a troublesome stretch of sewer pipe that decayed and required replacing. Smitty came out and gave us a reasonable, detailed estimate. He explained everything thoroughly without talking down to me, which I appreciate. We were able to get on his calendar relatively quickly. He marked the exact area they needed to dig, so we could remove the patio pavers ourselves and save on costs. The guys did a great job and cleaned up beautifully when finished. Was connected with Mario through ProDrain when seeking a second opinion on some sewer work that had been proposed by a different company. Mario was extremely responsive and came back with a quick assessment of the work he saw and supported a phone call to answer my questions and get into the specifics of our situation. With some extra data we had from when we purchased the house, he helped us determine the best path forward, which didn't involve any actual engagement from his side at this time. He clearly has a depth of knowledge from years of doing this and went out of his way to be helpful. I'd give Smitty's 10 stars if I could. Our main sewer line backed up. Roto Rooter sent a guy out and he cleared it. Two weeks later it was backing up again, so they came back out. It turns out that the backflow prevention flap valve in our main sewer line came loose and was stuck in the pipe. They tried to dislodge it but couldn't. They gave me as estimate of $10,000 to excavate and cut out that section of pipe. Yow! That seemed awfully expensive to me so I started calling around to get other estimates. I was so lucky Mario at Smitty's was the first one I was able to reach. He was working nearby and came right over. It turns out that the valve was sitting at the bottom of the 6' deep vertical shaft to which it had been attached, and was visible from ground level. The Roto Rooter guys had missed that entirely. Mario went right to work and cleverly used a section of plastic pipe to rig up a gizmo to grab the valve and pull it up out of the shaft. Problem solved. AND HE DIDN'T CHARGE ME A DIME!! Needless to say I was delighted and Smitty's is now our official plumber for any future problems. I also asked Mario what Smitty's would have charged if it turned out that excavation was the only solution. His estimate was about 1/3 of Roto Rooters. Call Smitty's if you have a plumbing problem. There are companies out there that are super rare, you know the type... They are prompt, competent and fair. Smitty's Sewer Service is one of those companies. I reached out to Smitty's via Yelp messenger for some new gutter drain lines and a sump pump install. He was able to get out within two weeks (would of been one except we had a freak ice storm). Said it would take two days, 1 for the install 1 for finishing and inspection. it took 2 days as he promised. Come to find out I needed an additional sump pump because of a unique hillside build/multiple low points in the crawl. He was able to take care of that in the original timeline! I will be hiring Mario again when I do the sump in my main dwelling's crawl. read more
