Amazing history : Originally a Bronze Age settlement, the name comes from Horn (Iron) (eck) Like : Fort of Iron.In the Iron Age Penzance was a trade route to France,Spain & Ireland & it was a fort then. William the Conqueror's brother was given the manor in 1066. It was attacked by the spanish during the Armada landing in 1595 & burned down.Rebuilt,the Borlase family inherited it as a wedding gift in 1718. It was bought in 1960 by the YHA for £20,000

They went out of their way to have breakfast ready for us a little earlier one day as we had a flight that morning to the Isles of Scilly. Internet was a little spotty sometimes, but workable. And the breakfast! You can have a traditional English fry-up, but there are so many other options as well. We loved the pancakes with fresh fruit and the warm baguettes. It was a perfect fusion of English & continental cuisine. I'd return to Penzance just to stay at the Blue Seas.

The first thing we noticed was how elegant the building was, with stylish interior decoration and high ceilings proving a lot of light in the rooms. It is located a stone's throw away from the sea, which you can view from some bedrooms. We were offered rather nice coffee on our arrival along with freshly baked homemade scones, then relaxed in the front room where there was a computer if we needed (WiFi provided throughout the hotel). The couple who run it were fantastic; very friendly and helpful with any queries, and there was a printed guide in our room complete with local restaurant menus in it (we'd recommend the Navy Inn). They also happen to produce AMAZING breakfasts. And a great choice of coffee. They are also a certified Green Business, and food and toiletries are sourced locally. It made for a quality stay in the centre of Penzance; we'd recommend this hotel to anyone!

We arrived by train; you walk about 20-25min to the house and a taxi is recommended if you have a lot of luggage or children because it goes uphill and then downhill when you walk. We were greeted like old friend by Andrew, the owner. Our first time, we had a twin room with ensuite on the top floor not facing the sea which we didn't mind at all as we really wanted a good night's sleep and not the noise from the street. The breakfast is really fantastic. Every day I tried a different one and until today I can't really decide which was the best. They were all delicious. Andrew was very helpful to give tips what to do in the area and how to get to places. The city centre is just 5min away if you short cut up the hill and through the park. We had a wonderful stay at Glencree House and do recommend it! The second time we had a twin room with half-view of the sea and an insight into Andrew's backyard. We heard his kids playing in the garden which wasn't a problem as we weren't in most of the time anyway. Nothing had changed since last time, same hospitality, great breakfast, clean and tidy room. Thanks to Molly and Lisa for being a great help to Andrew and Lynsey. We had a wonderful time in Glencree House - only the poor neigbour's dog that seemed to be shut out of the house very often, barking at the door, was something to get used to - and nothing was too much for Andrew and Lynsey, always helping out with so many things. I very much appreciated the help they gave when I needed a printout for a flight ticket and they offered to print it for me. Thank you again. I have been to so many guesthouses now but Glencree is always my No. 1. Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are quieter as it's a side street but rooms facing the sea have a wonder... Green Features: The house has only family and friends tested shampoo, shower gel and hand soap, and delicious breakfast where the food comes from local farmers.

The rooms were cozy, and toasty warm amidst the winter of Cornwall. Alex seemed flexible about arrival and departure times, and even came to pick us up at the bus station when we arrived. The breakfasts were delicious, filling, and super fancy and adorable. We had a choice of fresh juices or smoothies to drink, along with tea or coffee, as well as muesli or porridge, fresh bread, and vegan sausage, bacon, tofu, and potatoes. The dinners there are also amazing, and it's clear that Alex puts so much passion and thought into her meals. The house is beautiful and very homey. Bleujennow is not only all vegan, but also tries to reduce their impact on the earth as much as possible, which i very much appreciated. If you go to Southwest Cornwall, i highly recommend staying at Bleujennow. *Bonus points! All vegan food!*

She made us feel immediately at home, and the B&B was so warm, clean, and cozy. Her food is amazing and she was always more than happy to help out with anything we needed. Really one of the most pleasant places I've ever stayed in, this will remain one of my "happy places" and I hope to return one day. Seriously if you need one of those relaxing, restorative vacations, go to Bleujennow.

The owners were very helpful in informing us on what to see in the surrounding area. Marazion has a tranquil feel about it. Even though we were there in August, as soon as the sun sets the small village becomes a ghost town! Centrally located for St michaels mount, and the tiny beach. Our room (top floor room 8 i think) had a view with the sea, and came with fresh towels, tea and coffee making facilities, and a small lcd tv. There is also free parking at the rear of the b&b The only down side was that the shower cubicle was not so big. Apart from that, the room was very nice. We would definatly return if we retuned back to Cornwall. This place is great for a get away. Not the place to come if you want a lively town, but great for romantic get aways.
