I don't know what was so good about Honeymoon Beach? I mean...it's a tiny little secluded beach for those who appreciate that.
For me...without a doubt (the following may be tourist traps to some people but....) Hawksnest, Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay and Maho Bay beaches were much much more desirable!!! It wasn't even close.
I first arrived at Honeymoon Beach in the morning time (9am) while hiking along Lind Point Trail. Gotta say...Lind Point Trail is a fun little trek that circumnavigates the Cruz Bay area of St. John and Virgin Islands National Park.
So...from the start of Lind Point Trail, it took me roughly 45 minutes of casual walking to get here to Honeymoon Beach. This beach was so tiny. Literally once I arrived I looked around and said hmm "okay", "what's next?", "time to move on".
I initially had read prior to traveling to St. John that Honeymoon Beach featured incredibly white beautiful sands. Yet, it didn't nearly compare to the majestic turquois blue waters of say, Hawksnest and Trunk Bay.
And maybe because it was early morning and the sun hadn't fully bloomed, but the sands didn't appear white to me.
So...I was disappointed with my visit here. At least I enjoyed walking along Lind Point Trail. And for those who care to know, right next door to this beach is Salomon Beach, and that too was just mediocre/whatever/average.....as well.
Finally, although they may get busy with limited parking availability (if you've rented a car in St. John)....but the other main and primary beaches here at Virgin Islands NP are much more scenic and eye appealing options to visit other than this pedestrian looking Honeymoon Beach (lol, in my opinion).
I'd make the effort to explore Hawksnest, Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay and Maho Bay. You'll also be rewarded with stunning roadside views from above North Shore Road as you head towards these wonderful beaches. They're opportunities that can't be missed. read more
