Even though the rooms are probably considered small, they don't feel quite so small due to the boutique and space and energy saving aspects of the rooms. The bed was comfy the bathroom was unique in that it had a bench below the towel racks. The room keys double as your proximity door lock and as a master on/off device for your lights. The 7th floor has an outside terrace with a nice view of the surrounding area. The hotel does not include a restaurant, but food options and coffee service are available. There are a few restaurant and fast food options in the vicinity. However, the hotel is not convenient to the Metro. Your options are to get a bus, a ride, or walk a minimum of 12 minutes. Rooms are relatively quiet but not soundproof - you will hear neighboring doors close, the elevator if nearby, and traffic outside. I wish that either the blinds were a bit better at blocking light or that room-darkening curtains were available, as street light did shine through the blinds at night. Parking is available in a garage under the hotel, however the price per day goes up if you take your car out on any day(s) . My stay here was pleasant, but I personally prefer a hotel closer to the Metro when in Montreal.

Provoking furniture that is a lot more art than it is furniture is throughout, phishing boundaries of modernity and futurism. Staff are extremely professional. The bar and restaurant are remarkable. Rooms are gorgeous. As a whole, this property is a hidden gem of Montreal.

By the time I rolled up the ramp and passed through those wide automatic glass doors, I could already feel it. Accessibility here wasn't just checked off a list, it was built into the experience. Friendly, patient, and genuinely helpful every single day. Add in the proximity to McGill University, the Eaton Centre, and plenty of shopping and dining, and it really puts you right in the middle of everything. Speaking of food, the recommendations from the front desk were on point. The restaurant right next door, Universel Déjeuners et Grill, was convenient and consistently good. When I mentioned the long line and sudden rain at Schwartz's, they quickly suggested Dunn's instead, and that was a win, plenty of space for my wheelchair and great food. They also pointed me to Reubens for my last night, which ended up being a fantastic meal. My room, 1409, was quiet to the point of feeling almost soundproof. The layout gave me plenty of space to move around comfortably, and the roll-in shower was brilliant, exactly what I needed, with well-placed fixtures. The bed was large and comfortable, lighting was excellent, and there were more than enough outlets to keep everything, including my wheelchair, charged without hassle. If I had to note one thing, the kitchen area was a bit tight and the microwave sat a little high, but it was manageable. Even the laundry room ended up being a highlight. It was conveniently located on the mezzanine, easy to access, and reasonably priced. What really stood out was the staff. One moment in particular, a houseman stepped in without hesitation to help me load the dryer, which was a little high for me. It wasn't a big production, just a simple, thoughtful act that said a lot about how they treat their guests. The little moments really stood out too. Staff remembering my preferred seat at breakfast, offering help without me having to ask, and just being consistently present without being overbearing. That kind of attentiveness is hard to fake. My 10 day stay, and everything from the reliable internet to flipping between French and English TV (watching The Ten Commandments in French was unexpectedly fun) made it easy to settle in. Room cleaning they ask do you want it cleaned everyday and we said yes (reception asked) as weather was snowy and ice storm and we were out and about all day in that weather so we looked forward to nice clean warm room when we returned each day. NOPE both days we were given excuses why it was not done and both times reception said we did ask to have room cleaned (Please the weather was brutal and our snow shoes were dripping everywhere...why would I not request it and when I showed that we had sign out every morning for cleaning we were told they were short staffed and then it was a mistake and so and so on. We sat in reception day one for nearly two hours (entry to room 4.45pm) while we waited for room to be cleaned and 2nd day 45 minutes (5.15pm) Room still dirty and no toilet paper Said Manager would contact us and take care of this and of course he never did even though requested twice at reception ...Very busy guy must be! And worse was the breakfast what a rubbish breakfast...three little chaffing dishes with scrambled egg/sausage and dry old potato ...no juice / yogurts warm and not on ice ..only thing nice was croissent . $23 or so they charge ...nuts...maybe venting to much but this is not first class service and there are better places for brunch all around. The front desk attendants said they do not believe it is a bed bug. We went up to my room. I inspected some more and saw several in the seams of the bench at the foot of the bed. I showed this to the attendants. They took pictures of the bedbugs and took steps to vacate me out of the room. They said the hotel was at maximum capacity and there were no rooms available for me. I waited in the lobby as they looked for other nearby hotels for me. At 1:40am, after finding another hotel proved difficult, they told me, they actually did have another room available. As I had a flight early the following day, I had no choice but to stay in the room provided. Although I did not see any live bed bugs, I did see droppings and carcasses behind the mattress. The following morning, I spoke to the hotel supervisor. The supervisor said he will get an outside inspector to inspect the room for bed bugs before they can issue any sort of refund. The supervisor said he looked himself and did not see any bed bugs. I do not believe any outside inspection was done as you can see in other reviews, this is a reoccurring issue that has never been addressed. I never received a refund or follow up. Besides this, I saw mice running around in the hotel lobby. Please avoid at all costs! In part I should have been more wary from the beginning as the bed bench had stains and the bed frame had what I thought was dirt/debris.

But it's definitely in a good location, walkable to Old Montreal. I booked the Mega Guest Room, which was very spacious and came with a bathtub in an open bathroom layout. The FH&R benefit also comes with free breakfast and a $100 property credit, which we used to dine at the hotel restaurant (see my Restaurant Tbsp. review). Rather than a buffet breakfast, we got up to $50 credit per person and ordered à la carte. Overall, the service was great and the room was clean and spacious. Definitely a good use of the Amex FH&R benefit.

If I attract the cost of the rental car based on what it would have cost me to rent for the same length of time directly, the hotel stay was a screaming deal. However I sort of wonder if these customers get the rooms that are more run down because I definitely didn't feel the area of the hotel that I was in was in the best state of repair. Just walking down the hall towards the room you could see the woodwork was banged up and everything just seemed a little run down. Same thing once we got to the room. There was some discoloration in the caulk in the bathroom shower, the floor of which was a little slippery and required a towel to be laid down on the shower floor for traction. The location of the shower head in relation to the shower door resulted in water coming out onto the bathroom floor no matter how hard you try to avoid it and you could see the impact of this over time. The room had a funky smell to it and every time I was in the room my sinuses went crazy, the one night I slept with an n95. The refrigerator on my previous day wasn't very cold at all but this time it was so cold that my energy drink was slush the next morning and so I was very happy with that. The TV as far as I could see only work if you hook it to your telephone and stream your own video, or log on to YouTube as a guest. The safe is nice put your passport and other valuables and is very simple to figure out. There was a clock radio that provided a night light but unfortunately it circulated through all colors which I found kind of annoying at night. A lot of these devices have a setting where you can just choose one color and have it steady instead of circulating and messing with your sleep but there was no instructions. I had to leave it on so my traveling partner would have a night light, if that's an issue for you bring a sleep mask. We had a nice view of the garden from our room. I was walking by some other rooms when the door was open one day and I could see that they just had a view of concrete building across the street so we locked out on that. The wing of the hotel we were in and the room itself have dark carpeting and dark walls and so it can be very hard to see. Traveling with a visually impaired family member this was definitely a problem and something to keep in mind if you decide to book here. In fact there is a set of steps going down to where our room was and the lighting is poor. Even though the steps aren't steep my mom almost fell due to the poor lighting. I feel like they could easily install some lights along the edges of the step, or paint the edge of the step bright yellow. I actually told them at the front desk about this and the gentleman that I talked to indicated me that he just didn't care. It could be lack of training but I definitely didn't hear "oh I'm so sorry to hear that", or "I'll let someone know to get eyes on that" etc. Honestly! And then of course absolutely no sympathy for the funky smell in the room. I later heard from one of the staff that someone who actually fell on those steps the day before so it's not just us. The parking is a little expensive and you only get one in and out per day but if you're coming from states remember it's in Canadian dollars. We were supposed to have two free drinks from The Kube restaurant included in our package but every time we walked past that restaurant we could smell a strong fragrance and so we were not tempted to eat in the restaurant one bit. The first night walked by there we thought it was someone with perfume but it was consistent every night and then we realized it must be some sort of air freshener for the restaurant? It was just weird. Everyone else we encountered in the hotel were extremely kind and helpful, five stars for all of them! Perhaps the one person I talked to at the front desk that one evening should take lessons from the maintenance personnel, the doorman or the housekeeper.
