The first time I took him to Honey's Haven Danielle had to even out his coat from all the prior mishaps. Ironic that Danielle went to grooming school considering she told me my dog was "nearly impossible to groom". My dog's other groomer had no complaints before so I was surprised by Danielle's comments. This place is crowded with dogs and it seems the workload is too much for them. They don't even have time to schedule an appointment. When I went in there were already 12 dogs in for appointments. My dog's haircut was nice but over all the environment of the place and professionalism is lacking. Even Petco has better quality. read more

I can't remember when I first starting going to Honey's Haven but I would say it 16 years ago. Danielle and her staff goes above and beyond caring for my dogs. I have always had Shih Tzu's and have found that she uses various techniques in cutting and dematting without putting a dog through any torture. We have cried together when I have had to put y doggies down, even Oskar who bit her, and we smile and she falls in love with the new puppies that arrived on the scene last year! I called to see if I could bring my dog in for a bath. The person who answered the phone was very rude starting off asking "what kind of dog do you have?" (Why does that matter?) I said my sweet boy was a Staffordshire terrier and she replied, "I'm not taking any new dogs now." Obviously, I gave the wrong answer. Their loss. I don't usually write reviews, but I'm making an exception because I am such a big fan of Honey's. They have been taking care of different dogs of ours for fifteen years, and we have always been way more than satisfied. I see that the reviews are starkly polarized, and I guess that means that Honey's isn't for everyone. If you are a neat freak, or if you tend to worry a lot about your dog, or if you equate orderliness with the kind of professionalism that you are looking for, then maybe Honey's isn't for you. But if you are looking for care from people who absolutely LOVE dogs, then Honey's is for you. Yes, it's chaotic, but totally in a family way. This is truly, truly a family business. Danielle knows so much about dogs, and is so capable and caring around them. We first went there years ago because our bulldog wouldn't let us clip his nails. He would just go nuts. We brought him in, Danielle said "No problem," and she and a colleague quickly corralled the dog, flipped him on his side like a steer at a rodeo, clipped his nails, and were done with it. "How much?" I said -- ready to pay anything for a job I myself had been unable to do. "Five dollars," Danielle said. I love this place. read more

The staff and owner are nice, funny and friendly. You can tell they have great intentions and are genuine animal lovers but it was just too unprofessional for me. It wasn't a safe place for my dog. The shop was dirty and some dogs roamed loose. There were kids playing with and chasing the dogs around the work stations. It was chaos. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since my dog is trained but when I returned to pick him up, I was alarmed that they let my dog to roam amongst the other dogs since they were aware that he is intact and a stud. Also his haircut was uneven and he had a few nicks on his legs. They said he was well behaved, so I was confused as to why there were so many mistakes with his cut. I took my dog to Honeys Haven. The staff were very rude and talked poorly about other dogs they groom. They told me my dog was mean and nasty when I picked him up. He came home unevenly shaved and is very standoffish, likely traumatized from his first grooming experience here. I do NOT recommend honeys haven to anybody. read more

Honey's Haven is very conveniently located, and the facility is clean. The owner is friendly and talkative, and seems to genuinely enjoy her job. My dog has been several times and always come back with an adorable & fluffy grooming job. One caveat is that Honey's doesn't take cards or checks, so you must bring cash. There's an atm down the street in case you forget! My one complaint with Honey's (and the reason I'm currently experimenting with different groomers) is the supervision of the dogs during their stay. There are crates for the dogs, but they aren't used. Rather, all the dogs that are being groomed that day (usually between 5-8 dogs at a time) are left to roam free in the grooming area. Originally I thought this was a great idea, since the dogs get to socialize and work off some energy while they are waiting to be groomed. Since I have a very small dog, however, I've noticed that she comes home from a grooming nervous and very on-edge. The last time I dropped her off, there was a golden retriever and a few other large dogs in the grooming area, and the owner just tossed my little one right in with the big dogs. My dog immediately started scratching at the gate to come back to me, and was very frightened. While this type of setting would be fine for a larger dog, my dog is simply too nervous to do well in an environment that doesn't separate small dogs from large ones. Overall, Honey's is a good choice for a groomer if your dog isn't skittish or too small to defend itself among other dogs. I have no complaints about the grooming job itself, or the price (around $60). read more

My large shaggy dog is groomed here and they are fantastic! Kind, caring, and do a good job. My dog is happy there and the dogs are not in crates which works really well for my girl. Someone mentioned "shady" area of town and i don't see that at all. It is a fine neighborhood and area and while a small operation, they are professional and i am delighted with their care of my dog who is cherished and pampered. They treat her that way. Thank you!
