The woman who works there and challenged me in saying that. I mean, I grew up in NYC, and really, who would forget opening up one of those beautiful turquoise boxes? It was not a dupe from my parents. Regardless, I was told it would be purchased. More than 90 minutes later, I was told I could have $40 for it. It weighs 1.5 oz, and market rate is $48 an ounce , which would have been about $72. I was expecting to walk out with $55-$60. When I balked, Tom cursed a d said he didnt care if I didnt want to sell it and said a pawn shop would pay less. I chose not to go to a pawn shop. I went to what I believed was a fair business. Just be careful, because I met a lovely lady while waiting and she was there because his check to her didnt clear.

I hadn't been to this location before, and stopped in only to get a few silver polishing cloths since I was in the neighborhood. Walked out after about 45 minutes with some pretty new pieces (and luckily remembered my polishing cloths). They have pieces that range from fairly inexpensive ($30 or so for a plain sterling cigar or half-round band, for instance) to much more expensive. I last visited here in 2019, and look forward to visiting again. Their inventory doesn't really change much, though--they don't seem to get unique merchandise in, and rather carry the same styles in various in different stones--so it might be a bit more gentle on my pocketbook... and maybe I'll get out of there with just the polishing cloths this time, as intended.

But let me tell you how they came to move this store, happened same time I was last there. My husband and I were doing some Xmass shopping stopped in and he was in a crabby mood telling me to be careful not to drop the buffallo skull we were contemplating buying, I was fumbling as I was trying to put it back up on it's stand after looking at it. So I walked away, noticing all the Kachina (spirit) dolls lined up against the walls and then walked over to look at the Native american festihes (carved minature animals) I saw the store clerk walk over to offer to help my husband who was still trying to put it back on it's stand. I then saw her take it from him and drop it as she tried to put it back as I had done, breaking it! I'll tell you, I just KNEW a spirit made that happen! I just had this "feeling" Ok I know, I sound crazy but hear me out! So we ended up coming back again to pick up a couple more presents from there a few weeks later and as I was up at the cash register more toward the inner part of the store, my husband, who was standing at that same display case (clear glass on both sides) where the buffalo skull broke, suddenly yelled for us, we three; me, the clerk, the owner, ran to where he was standing and on the floor by his feet was a white buffalo that I had noticed was on the "opposite" side of the clear glass shelf where my husband was standing, It had "flown" over the shelf from the second (middle) of the shelf by his feet!!! He was beside himself! Given the coincidence with the clerk dropping the skull, and now this. I did mention the skull was on that same side didn't I?! anyway, the owner told us they had been having a lot of strange things happening in the store and the employees were getting frightened so they were going to be closing the store and moving (to where it is now located at 3189 S Grand Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63118) but I think the only reason he told me this is because I told him I "knew" about this type of stuff having had experiences with such things in the course of our discussing the incident. So straight from the owners mouth, he himself admitted to spirit activity and I seriously believed it was coming from the Kachina dolls. But it was mind blowing! I did visit their store on Grand avenue but the one in South County was much nicer and contained a lot more merchandise. I don't know which store it is in South County to find out if the spirit activity was indeed from the Kachina dolls or instead, the property. So that's my story, Great place for "authentic" Native American merchandise and a spiritual experience, if you can handle it, my husband went outside and waited for me in the mall while I went back and paid the owner for my purchases that 2nd visit. It really rattled him! I suppose the Kachina dolls had no problem with me, in fact I think they were protecting me, what they are suppose to do! "Look at mean white man bothering little squaw woman, let's get him!" (I'm also part pueblo indian, who hold Kachina dolls in their religious beliefs) Coincidence? I don't think so.

When the clerk asked me if I would take $200 for 2 Gold diamond necklaces, she seemed shocked that I said yes. (I knew better but needed the money. I had told her that I had some other jewelry and that I would be back. I did some research and realized that I had been taken. I had some other rings and necklaces, so I went back the next day. She did not seem happy to see me at all; in fact, she had feigned interest in something the day before but was just attempting to be nice. She rejected some of my pieces stating that they were not real then walked into the back area where someone let her know if the ones she selected were "acceptable". Again, an offer of about $200 for 2 vintage solid gold class rings. i asked her why. she looked at me and babbled on about clarity and such. I looked at her. said no and left. I went to another jewelry store with the rings and the rejected pieces and was offered $1200 for everything. I feel as if I have been robbed and am so tired of dishonesty just because they can get away with it.
