She is a scammer, and seems like she upcharges her guests for breaking her house rules, even if you've done nothing wrong. She is out to take her customers for an expensive ride, by upcharging them. It seems there is a legal loophole and she doesn't have to prove anything, so watch out for this person and don't stay here. Loss of business is the only (legal) way to deal with her, though, some day, someone with no regard for her life will get ripped off by her, and deal with her their own way. Not a Threat from me, just a prediction. Playing with fire usually burns the player. She will get burned.

The second floor includes two bedrooms, a large family room, full kitchen and a deck. Very nice! The bathroom was large with a whirlpool for two. All of the furniture and decor was top notch. The beds are very nice Amish oak and the sheets were very high quality - smooooth. Everything was very comfortable! Outside the house we had a grill, swing, fire pit and lots of land to hike. Breakfast is not included in this suite but it was no problem making arrangements with Nora for a couple of mornings. We enjoyed talking with Pete, Nora and other guests - Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Georgia being represented this weekend. While relaxing at the Inn is no problem I would strongly recommend two side trips: 1) The Shrine to the Our Lady of Guadelupe in LaCrosse. It is a one hour drive and it is amazing! Check it out on Yelp. I put up some photos but they don't do it justice. 2). Pete and Nora had suggested two places to eat in the area. The pizza at the Country Gardens motel was darn good and the prices for pizza and the other menu items was darn reasonable. It's about 15 minutes away in Soldiers Grove. If you want 5 star food then you need to keep driving another 15 minutes to The Driftless Cafe in Viroqua. The Beef Tenderloin was Outstanding and the desserts (especially the carrot cake) were excellent too! Prices are a bit higher but well worth it for this very fresh and delicious meal! We heard from other guests that they went biking on the Sparta railroad trail and had a great time. Next time we'll bring our bikes.

We got to Dubuque, IA and started looking for hotels in 100 mile radius - EVERYTHING WAS BOOKED! So I started "Yelping" I saw this B&B had 5 stars and we know why ! It's immaculate! Gorgeous grounds, kept in perfect condition. We arrived late, and was warmly greeted by one of the owners, Pete. We all introduced ourselves and then made way to our cabin. It's a two bedroom adorable, good sized cabin. First bedroom has two twin beds, and the second bedroom has a queen bed, there is a large futon in the living room. Bathroom is good size with a stand up shower. The sweet cabin has a full size refrigerator and nice kitchen. It's very clean and well cared for. If you are in the area, don't pass this up!

When we brought this to the attention of the staff, we were told it's been raining a lot recently... sure, but inside the hotel room?! They had windows open at the end of the hallway which may not be the best idea if this place is already prone to being damp... we also had a box on the table in the room which ended up with water damage on it when we packed up. The shower water pressure wasn't great but the bed was decent. The breakfast was okay and they had a variety of options, which we appreciated. However, at the end of the day, we didn't feel comfortable in our room and leaving anything on the floor (or even the table apparently). Not worth the price we paid, especially having some damage to our belongings.

The only traffic we experienced was a tractor on its way to a family farm. Once there, you can hear the cicadas, crickets, and birds along with the breeze blowing through the nearby trees. There are walking paths with butterflies and other wildlife to see. It is an edenic setting that will refresh your soul. Our room, called "The Secret Hideaway," was tucked away on the lower level with two entryways, one leading out to a spacious patio. The room itself had a couple full beds and a futon. The bathroom is good sized with a nice shower. There is a TV we never turned on, but I'm confident it would work if anyone required screen time (I did not). There are dehumidifiers, fans and other devices that made the room extremely comfortable despite temperatures in the 90's while we were there. Your hosts, Elise and Kevin, are welcoming and give you a quick "lay of the land" upon arrival. There is a refrigerator for you to store your refreshments, but they provide wonderful baked goods, lemonade, iced tea (we came for Labor Day weekend) and other items in the small community kitchenette. There are plenty of comfortable sofas, chairs and other amenities that have been thoughtfully laid out for guests who are just relaxing on site. You'll see Kevin around the property during the day, and busily feeding guest at breakfast as he is the main chef. Elise greets you, shows you around, and introduces you to the ensemble cast of animals such as the family dog, chickens, and hummingbirds. Almost immediately, you feel welcomed. As you can see from the pictures, the food is as visually appealing as it is appetizing. Fresh fruit, vegetables grown on site and eggs from the resident chickens combine for a great meal to start your day. Everything was delicious and you are served at your table with plenty of coffee and juice available. Outstanding! If you are going to American Players Theater for shows, checking out the local art and music scene, taking in the beauty of southwestern Wisconsin, or checking out the home and inspiration of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Silver Star Bed and Breskfast Inn is a excellent choice for your lodging needs.

I was able to sleep in, read, sit on the porch and watch the deer, and wander the area and property taking photographs. For someone who works 7 days a week, this was a wonderful respite and time with nature. The owners were helpful and kind. Read the FAQs, don't expect to be fed a whole lot to do--that's really not the point. I look forward to returning some day to experience what it's like in a different season and explore other roads and little gems in the Driftless.

There weren't a lot of instructions on where to find the remotes to the various electronics including the fan and the wifi did not work at all. The firewood was a bit expensive at 10$ per bundle. It was a small cozy little cottage and the owners made sure it had all the things you might need for a weekend getaway. The cabins are set in the beautiful hilly area of Driftless of Wisconsin and has absolutely stunning views. Might fo back to try a different cabin.
