We were referred by a friend to Blvd and Jimbo just is who we got. I'm saying it like I was part of the whole thing but I was actually just there for my son. I waited in the comfortable lobby most of the time but I did pop in the room a couple of times to check on progress and take photos. Jimbo was fine with that and even encouraged it. He carried on conversation with our young son like he was just another one of his buddies. Other folks there were friendly too. They probably thought we were weird parents but I'm ok with that. Pretty cool place. Definitely cool people. Really good work. I imagine my son will be back. As for me, we'll see if I ever commit to actually getting a tattoo.

The newly opened space is airy, the walls are decked out in amazing art, and each artist has a space that is larger and more posh than most day spa's offer. There was even a space for my service dog to relax while my ink was applied. I spent weeks combing the internet for a shop and artist to render my next piece. This was a very personal design, a memorial piece for family members I had recently lost, and I would accept nothing but the absolute best for my loved ones. Between the reviews, the photo examples of completed and healed work, and the incredibly kind manner in which the shop and its crew dealt with the public on social media, I knew I had found the right place. Getting a booking IS NOT EASY. But there is a very good reason for that. The artists are in extremely high demand and books only open for a day or two before they are filled up for the next 12+ weeks! So I suggest that you follow them on IG (or FB), familiarize yourself with the application process ahead of time, and check in daily for the next openings announcement. Due to such demand, their prices are also on the high end, and rightfully so. You will have to pony up but I promise it is worth it to have such a great experience and to have your work done right. My consult was virtual due to how far I had to drive. This is not optimal but my artist made it work. Come in person if you can and be prepared. I suggest that, ahead of time, you list out all the key elements you may be discussing. Those items will certainly include where you want it, how large it might be, what the theme is, what style or styles you may like, your experience (if any) with past work and how the ink healed over time, any concerns you may have, etc The more prepared you are the more productive the time will be. On the day of my appointment I could not have been more nervous and anxious. For one, it had been nearly 30 years since my last tattoo and, as I had mentioned, this was in memory of recently deceased family. I was worried about so many things. But from the moment I walked up to the front desk for check-in, to the introductions when finally meeting my artist Elyce face to face, I was home. All of the pain and grief this art symbolized was immediately quashed as the memorial became itself a last experience, a fond memory shared with those I had lost forever. I should add that my daughter, one of the deceased, was less than a year away from being old enough to get her first tattoo. We had made plans to go together and have work done when she turned 18. Going alone, and for this reason, was incredibly difficult but Elyce made it an occasion that I will remember almost as fondly as if my kiddo had been there herself. In many ways she was. I wont beleaguer the experience itself but lets just say that I never once regretted my choice. Everyone handles this sort of physical pain differently. The staff were all very attentive to my needs and my emotional/mental state. Elyce went out of her way to make sure I never felt uncomfortable. She provided me with all the breaks I wanted and they even bought me lunch! (I recommend the bakery/sandwich shop) During our session she conversed with me, asking questions and finding common ground from which to do so. Our chatter was fun and lighthearted and kept me distracted. And during the lulls in conversation she even broke into the occasional song, filling my ears with happy tunes... :D Then, when the work was complete, she went out of her way to ensure that I was fully prepared for what was to come. If you are on the fence, deciding between another shop and Just Another Hole in the Wall Tattoo, then let me save you the mental currency. They are worth the wait!

If I could give this place less than one star, I could. I went to this place over Spring Break, to…read moreinquire about a tattoo. I was made to feel very uncomfortable. The artist that I spoke to looked me up and down as if he wanted to do more than just a tattoo, so I left to get myself out of what I felt was not a good situation. There was a female artist there to my surprise, because by looking at their social media, her work was never advertised... By the uncomfortable experience I had and that showed me the respect or lack there of, for women (not to mention the artist that seems he wanted to make a move on every female who walked to the door). After leaving I looked for other places around the area that could take a walk in tattoo, which I found another shop available (even made time for me, even they were booked)... that the Odin's Beard apparently had been sending people to that been intentionally giving bad reviews. I see why, the other shop was everything Odin's Beard wasn't, kind, inviting, professional, comfortable, knowledgeable, just a fun environment, and listened to exactly I wanted, even took the time out to custom make what I had mind. The person I worked with was a medical professional and trauma survivor, which made the whole experience worth every minute. I was able to connect with someone, which meant everything in the world. This completely made up for such a terrible experience, as I was a trauma victim, they made it easy to open up and talk about it (confidentially, which is steases), leaving me feeling like I'm not alone and at home, and I was heard! You can tell the difference at the shop I ended up with, people who love what they do and want their clients to have the best, art wise and mentally, I felt at home, safe, with a piece that made feel me more beautiful about myself, maybe helping me start to heal and love myself. Shame on this place for trying to get ahead by attacking others, when they should such looking at such places to aspire to. You really should get to know your clients instead of making them feel uncomfortable as they walk in, ask questions, and getting to know your client on a personal level (not just for alterior motives, as felt). Listen to what they want, give them what they want, professionally. *****Another amazing thing about the place I found, the owner of the place I went to had the most class, still speaking highly of other places despite when asked about the situation, nothing negative, something most people would not and shouldn't do in their situation, much admiration. You don't find that in people anymore (class).***** Maybe it's just me, but it's not about the quality of the tattoo, but the overall experience, of which I was I able to find elsewhere. Personal advise, If you're a woman, looking more for than a tattoo and wanted to be treated respectfully, look elsewhere. Also, The fact you have to pay people for good Google reviews doesn't say much at all, I saw that ad. This place just seems like a shady place, and I won't ever be back. Maybe consulting a lawyer might be in my future, for adding more trauma to someone who has past trauma.

(a guy & a woman). don't get me wrong, i had a wonderful experience getting my belly button pierced by the woman. the shop is clean and they know what they're doing. i was working at a restaurant during this time. i had to wear a belt (& i was always carrying plates around) so my piercing got knocked around a lot. i also sleep mostly on my stomach, which they clearly tell you not to. as i continue, it is clear to me that the reason why my belly button piercing is irritated. it was MY fault. i was still cleaning it everyday, but it was red & swollen. i called and asked the shop if there was anything i could do to help reduce the swelling. as i continue to explain to the man on the phone that it was red & swollen because of ME, i was given nothing but attitude. apparently he thought i was "blaming his wife" for messing it up. and he reiterated several times, "my wife knows what she's doing and did NOT mess up your piercing. this is your fault." essentially. i was upset at this point but he told me to come in. i shouldn't have. red flag. as i come in, i tell him i was on the phone with him earlier. i shows him my piercing and it looked like his eyes were about to pop out of his head. he said, "OH MY GOD, WHAT DID YOU DO?" as if it's literally infected and bleeding everywhere but it's not. i receive more attitude. "DO YOU SLEEP ON YOUR STOMACH, are you following the instructions we gave you???" i explain, no, i clearly wasn't. but i was cleaning it daily. "my wife did not do this. your fault." okay. i know that at this point. i accidentally touch my piercing and he starts screaming. "DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY GERMS ARE ON YOUR FINGERS FROM YOUR PHONE?" at this point, i'm in tears. i'm literally holding back tears. i was so delusional at this point by this guy who i don't even know yelling at me like he's my father. i don't even remember what else he said to me. long story short, as soon as i leave, i bawled my eyes out because i could not even BELIEVE the audacity this man had to be a business owner, screaming at me. go to The Edge. they're actually nice there.

His shop is the cleanest and best maintained in the whole area, if not state (and far better than the shops I have visited in NJ). He excels in both color bomb and portraiture, but has reached into many styles with ease. We make a pilgrimage from NJ to SC, to sit for upwards of 9 hours a day, making a standing appointment every year. The 12 hour drive and wait is worth it for something that will be on me for my whole life. The healing process is been smooth, with barely any rough patches even on a piece that is 8 hours straight, and healing is complete in less than 2 weeks. Proper aftercare is still totally necessary, but when you can shave over a new tattoo in 2 weeks, you have seen an skilled artist. Alicia, who sits in the back, is an amazing artist in many mediums, skin being one of the newest. She has taken to it as a fish to water. Lance, the newest to Studio 22, is also quite talented and able to take walk-ins some days; he has a shorter wait-list (but don't let that fool you, he is still a great artist especially on one shot pieces). If you are not willing to wait or pay for art that will look great and last for your lifetime, you are making a poor decision. His appointments book out, but there is a waiting call list if you have the time to be stand-by. Or try Alicia and Lance, you won't be disappointed.

We spent a lot of hours together on my chest piece and even at the tough spots, she was giving me tough encouragement and making me laugh too. That is now my favorite tattoo that I have. Micah was my artist, and he was very great a long every step. i've had tattoos done before, and I've always had standoffish artists. But here was great interactions, and he talked me through every step. I was very happy with the outcome and the price was great!
