Reasonably priced per night, spots are not huge but they're big enough for two tents for sure. Every site had a table and a fire pit. The spots are up the hill so you have to walk down to the water, but it's fairly easy to get there. There are showers you can use, but you need to buy tokens at the store or the little machine next to the showers. Bathrooms are throughout including porter potties. Everyone was nice, for lake camping definitely fun. Place is a little run down, but still in pretty good shape. We've been here multiple times and enjoy it every time.

So I swerved left and parked the car when I saw the sign for another recreation area. Then jumped out of the car, and in the water! It was probably pretty funny to watch: first I got in, and only then did I start shedding clothing. Easy access to carry a couple of chairs over the water. Some people around, who were so, so friendly! Someone gave us advice about where to sit. Another person wanted to swim across the river with me. I had a ball. Not sure if there's any facilities. There are certainly no lifeguards. There are signs that advise wearing lifejackets for safety. I think that's probably a great idea for children or those who are not strong swimmers. This river is mellow enough, but it's nothing to laugh at... All in all: This was a great place to spend an hour or so. Glad to have found it!

You have the Stanislaus River you can kayak on. I went there to eat my lunch yesterday. Have a little picnic by myself, and there was not one person in the whole entire park, which was very unusual, but extremely relaxing.

There is plenty of space for them to run around, plenty of shade and I like that the park is separated for dogs over thirty pounds and dogs under. When you arrive there is a large parking area but there were a few interesting characters hanging around. After walking out to the viewing area to look at the water, I saw a city crew come in to the parking lot and start taking their lunch so I felt safe enough leaving my car while I tried some of the hike. I started down the stairs and realized my dog was moving slow. On closer examination, the stairs are made with metal sticking out, probably to deter wild animals but regardless, it was cutting my dogs paw pad. I carried her down the stairs and the first thing I saw was a clowder of feral cats gathered around a huge pile of cat food someone had dumped on the trail. We walked for a bit but the high grasses concerned me and I was worried about ticks so we headed down towards the water. It was nice and I would recommend bringing a folding chair and sitting by the water far more than I would recommend the trail itself. I wasn't really feeling it and we headed back up. The trip up the stairs carrying my dog was a little daunting but good for me I'm sure. The bathrooms at this park were really disgusting and I probably wouldn't come back here but try as I might I couldn't find any other reviews of information so I wanted to add it to yelp to help others in the future.

It was empty when I got there, but another person showed up after 5 minutes. It's a bit too far for me to drive from Modesto, but if you live near there, it would be great for your dog. Only thing is, it was hard to figure out where to park, so I parked in the grass under a tree. The road to drive into the park looks like a bike road, very narrow. It's right before the railroad tracks, and the train was going back and forth. You may need to wait to exit until the train leaves.

Very easy to find location and plenty of free parking. There are some really nice humans there and the cutest pups who love to interact and play around. Bring your fold out chair and some water and grab a patch of shade while you hang out visit and watch the pups. Great time, great people, great pups.

We had some tree branches hanging that got caught on our 5th wheeler as we were backing up to our…read morecampsite. We called the front office, Liz and the maintenance crew came within 5 mins. Loved that we were able to camp right on the water. Sites were large enough that we weren't stacked…read moreon top of neighbors. Had a nice swim spot and was well shaded. Bathrooms definitely were not maintained. I understand some cultures throw used toilet tissue in the trash, but the signs clearly stated flush the tissue. It seemed the bathrooms were only cleaned once or twice a day, and there was always piles of used tissue on the floor along with feces and urine. Maybe larger trash cans in the stalls can help contain the mess.
