Omg this was an amazing trip for us! All 7 of us had an amazing time! The staff was helpful and friendly. They gave us a short instruction/orientation before we got in the raft. We packed lunch, drinks, and snacks in a large (and heavy) cooler that we were able to take with us on the raft. Tip: Bring water guns like we did-many rafters squirt each other with squirt guns along the river! :D This is fun for everyone but I especially recommend it it if you have kids! The raft and ores were sturdy. They also provided life jackets for everyone. There were several places to stop along the way including a few rope swings! There were also staff members along the river to direct you in some areas and advise you on the very few areas of the river that were slightly challenging. At the end of the trip they bus you back to the parking lot. This was not a tough river to navigate. The ages in our raft ranged from 11 years old to 60 years old and we all did quite well! Before the trip I emailed and requested to add more people to our raft. The staff was very friendly, responsive, and accommodating. They also provide a photo of your rafters after the trip via Facebook for no additional cost, super nice! This is an EPIC trip for families and friends! I highly recommend it! We had an amazing trip! My husband and I took 3 teenage girls and our 5 year old. Check in was super easy and a short walk down to the water. After equipment pick up and a quick safety talk, we were on our way! Everyone there was super helpful and friendly! The water was low, cold and slow for the most part, which was good for our first timers. If you want a faster more exciting ride, go in the beginning of the season! We brought lunch and snacks which we were able to stop half way through to eat. Theres a photographer after the first rapid and the pics were already posted by the time we were done! We rented two rafts for two families plus our exchange students. We have used Sunshine Rafting a couple times in the past which were 5star experiences also, but this go we were required to have a guide for each raft due to the river flowing at a swift rate. So glad we had guides! We stop half way for a lunch break (bring your own lunch in a water proof container). Mitchell and Brett were cool and experienced guides. Went with a group of family. Had the best time! Your able to take an ice chest on the raft. With food and drinks. You have a time limit to reach the half way point. If you dont make it by the time limit your not able to proceed to the end of the river. Which i believe would have been fine. Your able to pull over in certain areas and rest or eat! Super Fun and such a great experience! The water was of course super cold but it was also about 100 degrees so it sort of balanced out. The rafting experience was 4-5 hours for us as we stopped multiple times to snack and take a break. You don't need much paddling as the river just flows but it is pretty slow, only a few rapids. I went with a group in late June and we had a great time. There were 8 people in our boat. It was a smooth, easy ride down the river with a few rapids here and there, but nothing to be frightened of. I highly recommend waterproofing everything! Even your sandwiches inside your cooler, we didn't put our sandwiches in a ziplock and we had soggy sandwiches. First time at Sunshine Rafting and rafting on the Stanislaus River! Check in: On weekends it was on site and a minor set back was not having visible signs. There should be a large sign at the Sonora road that points to check in area. Wish they emailed me the waivers ahead of time so it's easier and quicker check in. The service was nice and I had two people who couldn't come so at least we got credited a voucher to use another time. Make a reservation! They blow up the number of rafts based on reservations per day, so if you try to do a walk in you might have to turn back. Set up: 8 max per raft and you get a dry box to put your valuables that can't get wet (phone, keys, etc). There are a few workers to help give life jackets and the safety talk, then after that it's time to get in the river! Rafting: Class I/II perfect for family/children rafting. There are a few rapids but they're manageable. Beware of a lot of branches, so try your best to stay in the middle of the river, and there are no guides on the raft. Stopped at Horeshoe Park for lunch. There are picnic tables and a small firepit/grill. You are allowed to bring coolers but don't make them heavy because they do go on your raft. We packed sandwich ingredients which was cheap and quick set up. Bring a hat and sunblock! Exposed to the sun the whole time. At the end they have a shuttle that brings you back to the check in area. Definitely come back to do the next level with the hubby! read more

Date: Saturday, May 14, 2016 Time: 1000 Hours We benefited in more ways than one from all the rains the El Nino brought. With the Sierra snowpack level at 97% of normal, there are plenty of water running down from the mountain and into our lakes and rivers. This was our third time here, and the water was at its deepest level since the drought years. In the past, (particularly in 2014) there were sections were our raft would get stuck due to the low water level and literally had to off-board and push the raft over in order to pass those sections; we did not experience any of that this time. The first rapid you will encounter is the best part and you will get wet. Don't forget to wave at the camera on your left as you ride that first rapid. The water was swift in most areas and even on the flat parts, we just rode a current to guide and navigate us without paddling too much compared to the previous times we were here. And due to the high water level, some of the pit stops that we usually enjoyed along the way were underwater, but we weren't complaining. This was also the fastest time we ever had from start to finish due to the swift current. And one more thing: the water temperature was at 50 degrees and it was cold as heck. My foot was numb after being underwater for several minutes, but you will eventually get used to it and your body will adjust. But fair warning: your first dip in the water will shrink your balls up your nut shack. read more

I was very surprised with how frequent I go to Knights Ferry, that I had never done this! The team were very kind and thorough in all of their information and answers to our questions. Going from one bridge to the next was absolutely stress free as you can't miss the end. The stops were all very easy to access and beautiful. It wasn't crowded in the water at all. You're given a dry box and all supplies necessary to enjoy your trip. Take an ice chest and snacks! The park when you exit is very nice and having a shuttle to take you back to the start is wonderful. I 100% recommend this experience. Be mindful water is unpredictable and someone may fall over, for this I would not take a child who may want off the raft. Currents can be high and you want to be prepared for that. We are planning another trip very soon! 10/10 recommend. read more

Sunshine Rafting Adventures was a perfect adventure for the end of the summer before we returned to work/school. I called to set up a rafting trip for my co-workers and our families. The customer service the Sunshine Rafting is impressive. They answered all my questions, set up a payment system for everyone to pay for their own party within our group, and helped with adding/removing the number of rafters. Each raft holds 10 people, but you can reserve as many rafts as needed. Deals are provided with bigger parties. They really understood when one of the rafters had to do a last-minute cancelation and offered a refund. Sunshine constantly communicated with us via email and phone. When staffing issues arose due to water conditions, they provided the exact pricing to alter our original rafting date. Upon arrival, the parking is a gravel parking lot with a $5 fee, which is paid by card only at the machine. The machine is located near the only restroom and Sunshine check-in. After Checking-in, there's a short walk over the bridge down to the launching area. Before launching, lifevest was supplied, and safety and a quick how-to guide the raft. The staff was friendly and helpful. Once you are in the water, you are on your own; however, there is staff throughout the river. You can take as long as you want on the river, stopping to rest/lunch, jump off the rocks, or swing off the ropes. Watch out for the other rafters; they may be on the attack with their water guns. :) At the end of the trip, the staff did a fantastic job guiding us rookies to the shore for unloading. The team even went out to catch our swimmers that were following the raft into shore. The average trip is 3-5 hours with a bus trip back to the parking lot where you parked. The bus is a school bus, which reminded us of "Camp Crystal Lake." Haha. There is a 50's dinner less than a mile up to the highway, great for burgers if you are hungry afterward. Do not book a rafting trip at this location! If I could give negative stars I would. They are rude starting with the manager Shilo to Hana and Jacob. These people need some customer service training slash harassment training. We booked a birthday rafting trip with 14 guests spent close to $500. They rushed us through the whole experience telling us we could only eat for a couple of minutes harassed us the whole way down not allowing us to stop the six mile trip and ended up doing it in less than three hours because the were threatening the bus would leave us behind. When we called this morning they said rules had changed and the manager was ok with everything that had happened to us during our trip and really condescendingly asked, WHAT IS IT THAT YOU WANT in a loud irritated voice. read more

My family of four recently went rafting with Sunshine Rafting Adventures and had the most amazing time! The entire time, we all kept saying how much fun we were having. I truly do not know if I have experienced anything so easy. Booking the trip was quick and simple. The parking lot for rafters was easily located and there is an employee there to great you at the entrance to direct you to the next person who will show you where to park. Check in was fast and then you head towards the launch area. Employees are there to size you for a life jacket and get your party their raft and paddles. You have a quick safety/ informational session and off you go! We brought two small coolers for drinks and food and started down the river, playing some tunes. There are employees throughout the duration of the trip to help guide you. About half way down, there is an area to stop and rest. When we went, the river was mild so very enjoyable. This was a very fun and unique experience and we cannot wait to go again! read more

This was my first time taking my boys rafting. I was a little hesitant but they had so much fun and were already asking to do it again, before we even finished. I love the family time it provided and enjoyed them being away from electronics. The water is very cold, but they still enjoyed swimming in the shallow areas and stopping to eat. Took a kayaking trip down the river a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was quick and easy to reserve the date and time we wanted, and it was reasonably priced. We went on a Thursday so it wasn't very busy which was nice. We checked in at the parking lot then walked down to the river where we were given life vests and paddles and instructions on how to safely navigate the river. Off we went! The day was perfect. We will do it again soon and are already planning another trip with a group for early next summer. It's a great way to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Stanislaus River. read more
