They had they car towed at their expense from our home in Mandeville to the dealership in Hammond. Their mechanic agreed with Autoville: the car was toast. Ross Downing agreed to purchase it back for 75% of what Zac paid. While it would've been nice to receive the full amount, legally, Ross Downing wasn't required to offer anything. We do appreciate them doing the right thing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ORIGINAL REVIEW: 56 Days. That's how long the car my son bought from Ross Downing Chevrolet lasted. That's 26 days past their 30 guarantee. Ross Downing could have chosen to be a hero and offered some type of assistance. However, despite several calls and numerous conversations with the FB chat bots, the only person we heard from was his opportunistic salesperson. His laughable "solution" was for us to trade the now-inoperable car in for another vehicle which my son would have to finance. My son is early 20s, works 2 jobs and saved to pay cash for this vehicle. He probably doesn't have credit score to qualify for a loan, nor does he want to incur debt. (And frankly, he's distrustful of you now.) I realize Ross Downing is under no legal obligation to help my son. However, there's "right" and then there's "doing the right thing." The latter creates loyalty, repeat customers, and good word of mouth. This experience is the opposite of that. [Note: neither my son, nor my husband, recall being offered an extended warranty, but if you can show paperwork that he initialed/signed declining coverage, I'll concede that point.]

Since she goes…read moreto school in Hammond and I don't live near her school, I was concerned not being able to find a reputable car mechanic. I had earlier changed her battery, but her car still would not start. I found Russell's Auto Repair on Yelp and I drove to their facility. When I got there, I spoke to Michael and told him about the car troubles. He reassured me that he would take care of the car as quickly as possible so my daughter could be able to get back and forth to school and work. He recommended a towing company, and I got the car towed that morning. Shortly after they got my daughter's car, I got a call back from Michael letting me know the problem with it and the cost. Within three or four hours, they changed the starter and went over her vehicle for any other issues. The cost was very reasonable and the professionalism that Michael portrayed was well worth going there. Thank you again for getting us up and going in such a short time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that would have any issues with their vehicle.

I called at 1:30 asking for the status of my repair, he said he was out at lunch and would come back to my car as soon a he got back in. At 2:15pm, he called saying he was done with it. I paid for two hours worth of labor and I'm not sure how much time he actually spent on my car. But the real problem is that 24 hours later, my car was on the side of the road again and when I got a second person to look at my car they informed me that my bolt to my tensioner had a stripped bolt. When I called and asked this mechanic was if he as aware of it; he was very dismissive and changed his story after I revealed to him that my car had broken down for the same issue. He is blaming it on my alternator being bad even though the alternator was tested as soon as he completed the work and again the off the car the next day. I feel like he is the type to Nickle ahd dime a hard working person to get as much money as possible. Now I have to get his negligence repaired. Beware. Update: He shattered my tensioner. It had to be replaced and it costs me 325. Thanks.

I brought the car to Deep South for a diagnosis. They did it quickly and were very available and friendly throughout the process. Turns out it was just a bad battery after all. Plenty of opportunity for them to find something else "wrong" with the car, but they didn't. And Roy charged me the cheapest diagnostic fee I've ever paid, by far.
