Once again, I entered the store on Sunshine because it's minutes from my house and I didn't choose to drive to any of my preferred stores. I picked up the few things that I came for and decided I'd get a salad to take home. There were no small containers, only the large ones. When I told the checkout person, there were no small containers. She replied, "The deli is short-staffed." So let me get this straight, only the deli people are authorized to put paper containers on the salad bar? She handed me my receipt, she stood there while I was left to sack up my groceries. Guess that's not her job either. I think it's time for self-checkout here. May I can also get clearance to stock the salad bar. read more

What a service this natural market provides to Springfield and the surrounding area! Even though I'm only an occasional resident of Springfield, I don't know what I'd do without MaMa Jean's. The store provides access to many items that wouldn't otherwise be available at a normal big-box store. This is especially true for vegan foods (cheezes, butters, meatz) and natural body products, like shampoo bars and natural deodorants. The chocolate selection here is prodigious--better than what I can find in my East Coast megacity's local natural market even! I love all of the local goods available here too. Whenever I'm in town, I make a point to pick up gifts for those back home. The goat cheeses are always well received. The bulk section is really good too. Again, one of the best I've seen in any natural market in any city of any size. Hats off to MaMa Jeans' stockists. The selection you all provide is top notch. The cafe is a great addition too -- the tofu sandwich always hits the spot! I most recently tried the Purple Reign coffee drink and...mmmmmwah! Fabulous. read more

The location has moved but delighted to see it wasn't far from the last time I was in town. Visiting to get some goodies before heading home to where we don't have the amenities MaMa Jeans has. Found all the supplements I was looking for & a few things that I've never tried! Cashier was a sweet older gentleman who showed me photo of his red headed daughter. Deli: Mama Jean's Deli was my go-to place as a vegan staying in Springfield. I had a miss at a couple other places in town and ended up eating the exact same meal here 5 times over just a few days... I did change up the bread a couple of times, so I do have a winner with the options there! I ordered The Natural (no customizations necessary - this is a vegan sandwich) on Foccocia bread (I was told all bread offered is vegan) which is served with a pickle. (Also ordered an iced vanilla latte with almond milk - great, very sweet). I really enjoyed the sandwich every time I ordered it, which was surprising because it's a tofu sandwich. Normally that would scare me away, and I'd rather just eat my veggies or go H.A.M. on some vegan junk food (faux meat & cheese products), but I gave it a go and it worked out. I really felt all the prices were fair at the deli, as well. If you have a sweet tooth, beyond the coffee, this place is a mecca for vegan junk food so just browse the aisles, there's PLENTY to choose from. --- Grocery: I walked around the store and was happy to see there are a TON of specialty vegan products at or around the prices you find them anywhere else. They actually had Pumpkin Spice Dandie's out to sample a snack they made, but their sign indicated they made it with butter. That made me sad I wouldn't eat it anymore, but it made me feel comfortable that they acknowledged an intentionally vegan product was prepared non-vegan. I imagine anyone with an allergen or just preference would feel "safe" dining or shopping here. Highly recommend. read more

I am still dreaming about this place. We were on vacation and just wanted a filling but light and healthy lunch. This fit the bill perfect. I had the Roman chicken sandwich and it was just fabulous everything was perfect the sprouted toasted bread was thinly sliced and so fresh. Husband had the club on focaccia and it was perfect it wasn't huge and stacked high with processed meats it was all fresh and delicious. The focaccia wasn't greasy like most. They had a great selection of fresh salads and I wish we would've been hungrier so we could have tried them. Service was exceptional however do not expect a fast food turn around they take care in what they are serving you and it's not some premade meal. read more

I had a really great experience there today. Such friendly atmosphere. And this location has everything, including rare local farmers produce.I spent over two hundred dollars there, for my groceries for the week. But my experience was priceless. I have always been a fan of the original location and tend to visit the republic road location at least once a week. LOVE THE NEW LOCATION! Like I seriously am wondering if I should start driving across town a couple time a month. The layout is fantastic - the employees seem really friendly. THEY HAVE VEGAN ICE CREAM! Lots of kinds. I am so incredibly excited :-D My only complaint is the lack of a deli case and a fresh baked goods section like the Republic Rd. store. (Where will they sell the magic cookies???) Other wishes: A larger loose tea section - more vegan labels on vegan things - bulk natures made veggie burger mix - a beet sugar crystals. :) These wishes do no change the fact that this is hands down the best option in town for healthy local shopping in a store environment :) Mama Jean's I *heart* you! read more

I ran into mama jeans for a quick bite to eat before running errands after work. All of the menu options sounded appealing, but I opted for the salad bar. I filled my salad bowl, but I do not think the weight of my salad was adjusted for the weight of the bowl it was in! My salad was delicious, I just think I might have overpaid. I would definitely recommend the rosemary balsamic from the salad bar! read more

Full of turkey and carb overload from the Holidays, I was desperate to find some healthy alternatives and sides. Thank you MaMa Jeans. They have everything from kale/quinoa sides to tumeric tofu, and other creative little sides dishes for a few dollars. It is also a great places to get bottled veggie juices and do some general grocery shopping. If I lived in the area, this would personally be my go to grocery store. It's not cheap, but you can supplement things from the other stores. The cool thing is, this is near Walmart and Sam's - so you can still get all that other random bulk size and super size stuff if need be. read more

Best salad bar, so many fresh and delicious choices. I love the roasted Brussel sprouts and the pickled red onions. Sandwiches are great, our kids always get the build your own. Our son says the gluten free bread is his favorite ever. Smoothies are fantastic and big enough o share. And my husband swears by their iced coffees and lattes. Popped in to Mama Jean's to get my vitamins and what do I see? The delightful little deli that stopped serving fresh food for a while is once again alive? I seized the opportunity to enjoy and stepped up to order. In my giddy delirium I ordered the first thing on the menu- The Ava Gardner. I chose my chips and Zevia and sat down to wait. A scant few moment later out comes my sammie and oh good lord above is that a BEET?!?!? Nonononono - I read the description on the sandwich again and yep, right there - roasted *gag* beets. And because I'm a grown ass woman and I had just plunked down my hard earned cheddar for this thing I was determined to choke it down. I took the first bite. This is where my story, nay my whole life, changed. This thing had more beets on it than I've eaten in my entire life and I've been here a minute. I'm not gonna lie even a little bit - this is one of the best sammies I've ever eaten. The service is friendly and the food is delivered quickly. So happy to be able to eat lunch here again. read more

I do not recommend curb side pickup at the East Sunshine location, & after this experience I am questioning whether I want to recommend Mama Jean's at all. I was told by curbside I would receive my military discount yet did not receive it. Had I been told I would not receive it I would have shopped inside so that I would receive it. I spoke with the manager. She said they do not give the military or senior citizens discount at curbside (at the time of this post it is not on the website either-they said they would be adding it). She said she spoke with the owners & they said they would not give me the discount for that purchase, which was an almost $200 purchase. I was also refused a complimentary credit to my account for having been misinformed by a person & uninformed by the website & thereby losing my discount. Additionally, my total after tax was $180, yet I was charged $208. I was told the additional $28 was a provisional hold fee that I would get back. I have not gotten it back. There were several other issues with the order & the process that for the sake of the length of this review I will not list. The manager & owners chose to not resolve these issues with my order in any way. It is my personal opinion that this is bad business practice & strips customers of their trust in their local small business store, & the trust of customers for small business is an important thing. read more

I used to live in Springfield not far from this new MaMa Jean's location - I almost wish I still did, because I strongly prefer this store over either of the other MaMa Jean's! It is really nice and reminds me a bit of a warehouse style store - which I like. It is far more accessible to the masses, in my opinion. I do not care much for the pretentious cooler-than-thou attitudes I repeatedly encountered at the Republic Rd store and I experienced none of that here! This store reminds me much more of my favorite natural foods stores in other cities. It feels more authentic and pleasant, and I found better prices - which I have not visited the other MaMa Jean's in about one year so it's possible their prices have improved too. I love the huge bulk sections and customer friendly layout. Fabulous health & beauty section too...I found my all-time favorite moisturizer cheaper than I've found it from competitors or online! This is truly a pleasant shopping environment. I will definitely be back. read more

Just had a crap experience. I went in looking for a supplement, the girl behind the desk near the oils said, "oh yea, the girl over there will help you". Well there was no girl over there... I looked around for a while and went back to her for help and again she declined to assist me. I am just annoyed with that treatment. I do absolutely love their spice section. Their loose leaf tea is great! I'll go back, I just hope the staff isn't too good to help me again. read more
