Hooker Travel has left me in the lurch twice so far this year. First, I was in TX, my flight was late which made me miss my connection. When I called Hooker to have them rebook me (not coincidentally late on a Friday afternoon) I was told I should wait in line with the others who had to rebook. The agent didn't want to bother with me since she would be done working soon. Why would I use a travel agency if they aren't going to help me out in a pinch? I ended up rebooking my flight using my phone.
That was simply annoying, but two weeks ago Hooker caused me a great deal of professional harm. I booked a flight to a professional conference where I was to present. I'm a college professor. Doing conference presentations is necessary for my professional advancement. This was not a pleasure trip that I could just reschedule. The Hooker agent failed to complete the sale on her computer somehow. She sent me the flight details in my itinerary, but when I got to the airport I did not have a ticket. I could have bought a ticket that should have cost me $400 on the spot for $1400. Not happening. When I let them know how badly they had screwed up I got an "oops, sorry" "guess we have some training to do" from the owner. No compensation or other make good offer.
In short, if you really need to get where you're going, avoid Hooker Travel. read more
