I tried to get an appointment back in 2019, but Ikaika was all booked up. And then the pandemic hit. But knowing this year that I was going to be out on Oahu, I booked an appointment. It has been a long time since I've had a massage, and if you read through my past two reviews, Ikaika has a way of working the muscles toward healing. If you're looking for one of those soothing massages you see on tv, this might not be for you. But if you have muscle pain, range of motion issues, or other issues pertaining to body alignment, Ikaika is your man. Since I was in really bad shape, I opted for The Two-Part Ultimate Complete Body Treatment Plan. In the first part, I was stretched and pulled as much as my body would allow. Interesting that parts of my left side were more flexible than my dominant right, and vice-versa, and yes, there were some times I was in a little pain, other times a lot, but don't let this scare you because he was working on my issues, and I have a lot...LOL! But it was in the second half where a lot of the work took place. The deep tissue massage uncovered some pretty gnarly knots! The acupressure points did bring forth some tears, releasing some emotional tension that I've been holding onto. Ikaika's protocols are what sets him apart from other therapists. It's amazing how our bodies, particularly our muscle tissues, protect us, but in doing so, the tension builds and if we don't do anything to release it, it will stay and become those knots. IK: You said you were in bad shape but you stay all hamajang.. Me: I know...I'm sorry, but thank you for putting me back together There were times when the deep tissue was painful but as long as I kept breathing my way through it, when he was done, the pain was gone. But the most amazing part was the very end. When he was finished with my myofascial and cranial massage, he lifted my head in his hands, and said, "just think about that place where you feel love and support." Meditating on that, I had an existential experience. It was an amazing journey. I highly recommend Ikaika if you are having some issues that need to be healed. He listens to what you need, and also watches how your body communicates. Unfortunately, he is on break until September. I was lucky to get the last appointment. I've been seeing Ikaika for over two years now, and it's about time I write a review! Now where to start?! When I first went to Ikaika, I was looking for someone I might visit once or twice a month to help relieve muscle tension in my neck and shoulders due to sitting at the computer. On my first visit, I asked for a deep massage. WOW! I'd had a lot of massages, but never experienced such strength before. I wasn't sure I could handle it, but the longer he worked on me, the easier I found it. I noticed that unlike other massages I'd had in the past, the work he did had a long lasting, therapeutic effect. Unfortunately, not long after I started seeing him, I sustained a severe brachial plexus (nerve) injury, which affected my entire arm and hand. Ikaika has helped me through the long healing process, adjusting his treatments along the way and helping me maintain my circulation and flexibility. I have also dealt with knee issues that, at times, have threatened my ability to stay as active as I want to be. Ikaika has found the source of those knee problems and helped to loosen tight muscles which were restricting movement and causing discomfort. In short, Ikaika has worked his magic on all that has ailed me! He has helped me remain physically active, so that I can continue to walk long miles, and surf into my 60s. Ikaika is a rare, intuitive, and truly gifted healer, who is able to hone in on the source of your pain, discomfort, and/or limited range of motion. He will listen to you carefully before he starts to work, and be sure to pay special attention to the areas you identify as problematic. He will also find knots you didn't know you had, and release them for you. You will be amazed by his ability to sustain the deep pressure needed to release your tension, and by his healing touch. WOW. It's hard to put into words how great my experience was, but I'll try. I went in for 2 massages, and each one was better than any other massage I've ever had - and I've had a lot! If you're going in for deep tissue / healing as I was, expect PAIN. The pressure was more than anything I'd experienced before, but what really impressed me were the homing missile elbows - finding knots I'd never think existed in seconds and then targeting them down with laser precision. I came to Ikaika after having leg cramps earlier in the day during a long run. The treatment he provided was extremely helpful. The session started with some stretching and joint realignment which helped both of us identify potential problem areas. During the deep tissue massage, he was able to apply sufficient pressure to work out the knots and cramps in my legs while still being receptive to my comfort levels. What an absolute TREAT!!! I have had 100's of massages all over the world and who knew the most effective massage was right in my back yard. Ikaika was phenomenal. Ho 'opono Healing Massage is the real deal! This is no "feel good" rub rub nonsense. My first experience with Ikaika was an intense release of mammoth proportion. I said to him afterwards: "I didn't know you could do that!". "Do what?" he inquired, I responded: "Let go, I didn't know you could let go like that!" Honestly, unknown to me, I was holding onto way more than just the physical tension of being a lifelong athlete bodyboarder. A ways into the massage the intensity was almost unbearable. Ikaika had assessed my issues and went to work diligently on my excessively tight areas. He told me to let go and let me know that I was safe. "It's ok to cry. People cry here". We are so lucky that we found Stacey for our massages on Oahu. I usually get massages on a regular basis but never had someone so professional. For the past 6 months my right arm and shoulder were in pain from overuse. He knew exactly how to treat it and even after our first session I felt 10 times better. I loved hot packs as well. My husband and my daughters got their massages as well. All loved it. When we got back on the island second time I immediately bought 3 consecutive sessions for myself and my husband, our daughters got their adjustment as well. In that one session, he improved her mobility and greatly reduced the pain she was experiencing. She had such a positive experience that we booked treatments for our daughters, and I also had the Body Tune-Up Treatment. I had not had a massage for a few years since most spas were closed due to COVID, so I was incredibly tight and tense. Stacey broke up the knots throughout my body.
