With COVID having affected and changed so many lives in more ways than one since March 2020 (well…read moreover a year now as of this writing), psychologists and therapists have been in such high demand! I came across DalyBeth and Positive Health Hawaii after searching around for places that had openings and/or were accepting new patients, which as expected was super hard to come by and especially within a short time. Having been living alone and hardly able to see the closest friends for the last year now along with dealing with lots of tension within another organization that I'm working for on a part-time basis, I've been trying to seek help with my mental health and depression that has literally taken its toll on my life, I am very thankful for DalyBeth! She has been willing to listen to my situation and stories and has made plenty of helpful suggestions on helping myself relieve stress from my life. Now although I haven't gotten to some of them quite yet and admittedly may not be comfortable doing certain ones just yet, I've taken lots of notes and been trying to put her advice to great use. Before my slump, I was a regular weekly league bowler averaging 195. During my recent season long slump, my average dropped to about 169. I was playing the lanes wrong, i was doubting my abilities, and overall I was a grouch and not a fun person to be around. My thinking was so negative. I was contemplating quitting the sport. I needed to do something different. After taking the first session, I had a totally new outlook, a new perspective. I wanted to be part of that 1% select minority that we talked about. After taking your 5 sessions, I know I want to be a part of the 1% and I know that I won't be in a prolonged slump ever again. In the 4 weekly sessions that I bowled after I started to work with you, I bowled a 200+ game in every week. Before this, I could not remember the last 200 game I shot at league. I was shooting 120s, 130s, 160s, many weeks, all 3 games below average. I was dwelling on bad execution and bad performance. I couldn't even make my spares, which I usually excel at, due to dwelling on my mistakes on my first ball of the frames. Now, I'm able to roll my first shots well and if they happen to not strike, I can adjust the next time I'm on that lane. If the first ball doesn't strike, I can focus on the second ball for my spare shot and started to make all of my spares again. On my fourth night, on the Tuesday after my last session on Monday, I shot over 200 again and this time, my partner and I won a doubles pot worth over $400 each. You guaranteed me that I would win tuition money back and I did. This is not the biggest pot in our weekly league bowling, but the reward came so quickly. Immediately after taking your sessions, I started to bowl like myself again. I shoot 200s regularly and now I have the confidence as I'm winning money again! Becoming an money making machine! I was battling with a 'sense of failure' as a father/husband/person due to what I thought was from financial pressures and a lack of empathy, accountability with my was breaking down my relationship with my wife. His counseling experience and deep knowledge of behavioral therapy identified a possible 'Complex Relational trauma response' disorder that my wife showed signs of displaying. Justin helped me understand her trauma response and how I was reacting to her issues with my own issues which triggered her fear, abandonment, frustration, mistrust, and gravitation to conflict which induced my own defensiveness reactions and anger. He provided me with my own personal tools to deploy on a regular basis. These helped me be nice to myself and appreciate my purpose and that I was actually doing my best to improve myself and provide love most importantly. Some of those solutions and tools such as meditation, mindfulness, self awareness/development created personal behavioral changes and coping strategies I now feel better about myself . A relationship tools I really liked was his own self developed 'Oh-Five-X Repair Framework' ( a one page document) which has provided us ability to create a safe place for trust, healing, and recovering from past trauma and experiences in our relationship and personal pasts. I've developed a deeper understanding and awareness of myself and Justin's actionable tools and strategies are much more than what most other life coaches or counselors can deliver. Its his ability to land these strategies/tools on point and get you to understand how to employ them to get better/improve/develop yourself With this guidance I've noticed I've become more empathetic, less reactive and more self caring so my family can continue to heal, and our relationship and welfare of ourselves benefits our family.
