RECOMMENDED Given…read morethat I come from a family of non-drinkers, Bob De Meo's has been a mandatory stop for at least ten years when I visit my family in Troy, most recently on Labor Day Friday (9/2). Bob's is in a very small strip shopping area. Parking has never been a problem. The store is properly lit. Mr. De Meo and his staff have been invariably polite and helpful, always greeting me and immediately asking me whether I needed assistance when I walked in. Knowiing the store I have usually declined.The small store is extremely well organized and easy to navigate, with wines separated by color and variety. I have always been able to score a decent sub-$10.00 .75 ml. Red to drink with my meals, usually a Pinot Noir. I will continue to regularly visit Bob De Meo's when I visit Troy.

I decided to check out Troy Beverage Center, and fell in love. They have a very wide variety of different beers. I've gone back multiple times to try different ones, and I plan on keep going back! The only problem with this place is the lack of organization, making it very tough to find things if you have something particular in mind, and it's also very dusty, which makes me wonder how often they rotate beers out. Other than that, this is a great spot to pick up some specialty stouts, IPAs, or whatever you might be looking for if you're in the Troy area!

They cool the growler containers for you before they fill them up because they are sweet people just trying to get you a decent frosty buzz going. Lots and lots of choice of beer and something else I really appreciated, MIXERS. Lots of tonic and seltzer flavors to keep you satisfied. I think I even peeped a Cucumber Melon flavor. There were significant issues with the website which the Empire team acknowledged were internal technical issues. This delayed ordering to a two-hour process (when it should take minutes) ! Plus a timely response to Empire about a vintage question was not acknowledged without calls back to Empire thus delaying delivery to multiple days where we had to be available to accept delivery. We had respectfully requested waiving of the shipping charge (which was a relatively small amount compared to the order) as a basic courtesy but our email requests were either not answered or later met with abrupt responses telling us No, margins are small . We believe professional and common sense treatment of customers should come first and that this situation should have been handled differently!

Maybe I came on a bad day, but there were boxes everywhere and it looked disheveled. If they had a organization system I didn't quite catch it. I found ciders here and there in the store, not grouped together. Since I am not a beer connoisseur, I couldn't say if their selection was good or even organized. I have been to other beverage centers in the area so I know what is "normal" and what is "a hurricane just went through here." I saw a lot of cool ciders and picked some up, as well as a case of sparkling water. There was a half-full (or half-empty?) cup of beer on one shelf, which I assume was leftover from a tasting event they ran two days ago. I saw one employee several times walking around and stocking. He never said a word to me when I came in, never asked if I needed help, or didn't thank me for stopping by. His only word was "yup" when I preemptively set out my ID.
