Reposting since my review seems to magically disappear everytime: DO NOT SEND YOUR BLACK CHILDREN HERE. PLEASE. All of my siblings and I were students for years and the most consistent theme we encountered was just racism. I dealt with DAILY racism from the students (ranging from making fun of my family or heritage or hair or skin when the lights turned off to just straight up calling me a N****r) that went unchecked by administration who liked calling the incidences "he said she said situations". I'm Nigerian, and I was called MamaKenya and Jujumama Gumbo for years. I dealt with way too many racist teachers too, faculty members and substitutes, especially my sophomore year of highschool, where my white male middle aged English teacher told me he would put a bag over my head and sell me if I got the chance (I eventually made a habit of walking out of classes when this happened when I figured out I didn't have to sit there and take the abuse). The same year, our NOTORIOUSLY RACIST HISTORY TEACHER SPRONG, who liked referring to black people and native Americans as darkies and r**skins started a whole tirade of drama with me when I "spoke out of turn" when he said Obama was out of his "cotton picking mind". I walked out of the room without a word, only to find myself in the principals office later that day because I was "acting like an animal" and "making grotesque sounds in class". Of course I was branded as the dramatic liar, and told by the principal they had to "support our teachers", the same line they told me after a substitute teacher who went on to try and bully my brother as well tried to get me expelled for "hyperaggressive behavior" and "threatening him in class" after I "gave him a dirty look" (blatantly lying, I wasn't even looking at him while he was talking ) while he was giving an announcement. I'm sorry 16 year old 120lb presence was so threatening to someone who spent years abroad with the military. That was real cute. Before he left the school, my brother was calling me multiple times a week during the school day to tell me about how he was being bullied and called a n***er everyday and I will never forgive this school for the extent they let racism bury itself even deeper into the very foundation of the school's culture. Years later, my sisters are still coming home telling me about how little white boys at school follow them around spewing the racist nonsense their parents teach them at home. With no consequence of course, because they're on the same page as many faculty members. And please, don't let me get started on the sexism that gets taught in class. Look below at the review detailing a teacher telling us marital rape didn't exist. He has told every class since 2015 the same thing, and trust me that wasn't the only insane thing we heard in class or chapel. "Purity Week" itself was sexist hell. My best HCS memory was leaving. It may have Christian school in the name, but the experience was very much the opposite. read more

This is an incredibly sexist school and does not punish kids for valid reasons. The administration forces kids to comply with unfair and unjust rules (such as dress code, talking in class or in chapel, etc) and does not take in account of kids feelings which makes them feel less important. They have forgotten the true meaning of the rules. They have gotten worse with dress code and rules each following year. The administration repetitively informs the students that they are trying to help you, but don't make any effort to encourage students that they target, (kids who have trouble upholding every rule in the hand book with no warning from other teachers) which causes the students more stress and depression. This school is horrible! We had such high hopes coming in and literally fled from there beyond disappointed. Our child was worse off in so many ways for having gone there. There are few alternatives to Albuquerque Public Schools (APS), so parents flock to HOPE and settle for it - even turning a blind eye to poor quality teaching, lack of real Christian values, and a damaging/toxic environment for kids, especially kids that really are Christians. The leadership ignores real issues and complaints while patting themselves on the backs in blatent disregard of issues. Homeschool is a WAY better option if you are considering this place. read more

I attended this school a couple of years ago and I have a couple things to say, the education was pretty but now let's get into the severe racism and sexism if you want to go to this school as a girl who is black I would suggest choosing a different school. When I went to this school as a black girl teachers had assumed that I had parental problems and that my life was going the wrong because apparently I didn't have a father. Me and my siblings were constantly verbally attacked with stereotypes and slurs. I would be walking around and someone would yell at giving me dirty looks and asking me if I was going to play basketball or run track. It was time for us to watch a presentation so the teacher had asked me to turn off the lights and once I did the white boys had yelled "where did ******** go?!" saying I had disappeared from the room. Whenever I would wear an all black outfit the boys would ask me why i'm not wearing any clothes. Then when I was in class learning about history, more specifically slavery, I would always get looks or be asked if I know anything about the slavery or the teacher would apologize for her ancestors treating my ancestors like that. If there was a word that they didn't know how to pronounce, the teacher would ask me how to say it assuming that was my "language". Any other black person who was there the students would ask if we are either related or dating. Lastly, for sports I was on varsity for every sport I did especially track the coach himself had said that he knew I had more energy in me since my ancestors had run a long way so I should be used to it. When I asked for a water break the coach said that he thought i was used to not drinking water frequently, that is a quote. I wouldn't recommend going if you are black read more
