We came in "comparing" churches and not really listening to God, at first. We loved Cornerstone. Since then we have now become a family of 5. We love the worship, we love the teachings and all of the various small groups. IF you don't get involved, IF you just sit and watch everyone else, you will stunt your Christian walk. We just celebrated 21 years of being in Arizona, our home AND Cornerstone. We become as active in all of the volunteer activities as we can. We don't love Cornerstone because it is a "Mega" church; we love Cornerstone because it is many churches within a "Mega" church for all ages. Grateful that we listened to God. I don't make it every single Sunday like I used to, but I'm working on getting back into the routine. Even when I'm not in the building, I tune into the podcast--so technically, I'm still there! There's plenty of onsite parking and lots of programs to get involved in. The atmosphere is super friendly and welcoming, but what I love most is the diversity of the congregation. Come as you are--no judgment zone.

There's an incredible amount of young adults that go to their church which was awesome to see. The reason I give only 3 stars is because of the children's ministry. They were super friendly when I was dropping my 2nd grader off for the first time, but when I picked him up, I was bummed to see him sitting alone and no teachers around him. I was a bit late to get him, because I was talking, but I have served at many churches and no matter how late the parents are, the volunteers do not leave the children. He wasn't the last kid picked up and completely alone, but in the 2nd grade "area" it was just him with no adults. Also when we were walking out, the person I gave my tag too kind of ignored us and when I said thanks and goodbye, she just continued to talk to her friends that were nearby. So in a way I felt like people were kind and friendly, but not as welcoming as I hoped for a first time person. Wanting to try the church again and hopefully it will feel different next time.

There are a lot of opportunities for community at New Valley. We have regular women and men's events, as well as a robust children's and youth ministries. I personally have enjoyed attending our women's retreat and spring fling. I have made my closest friends through serving at the church and being part of my gospel community group. Luck, huh, maybe these people are Mormon and Christian mix (many of them are around, watch out!) one of the guys asked me a whole bunch of very personal questions right in front of the group and then dropped the ball and gave judgement, wow, that was totally unfair at this point It was clear to me that this was therapy 101 and not a Christian group.

My faith has grown exponentially since then and I love the community I've built here. The teachings are Biblical and the worship songs have sound theology, but this church is far from traditional (although there is a traditional service offered at 9am on Sundays). The services will keep you awake and wanting to learn more. Another thing I love about this church are the pastors. Chad Moore is an excellent communicator who truly loves and cares about his church, but more importantly, the people that make up the church. He makes up excellent "catch phrases" that will stick in your head and serve as a reminder of the character of God and His Church. Robert Watson will be your favorite if you're a visual learner. He teaches once or twice a series and is great at using physical illustrations to help you remember the main point of his message. Kyle Glenn is the pastor of the Tempe campus and is always eagerly waiting to greet people on Sunday mornings - whether you're new or have been going there for a few years. Kyle is easily one of the most loving and humble I've met and can put a smile on anyone's face. He's compassionate and always puts the needs of the Church over his own. If you are new to church, or have been hurt by a church, this place is definitely the place for you. It isn't small enough to make you feel like you're constantly under surveillance, but it's not too big to the point where you feel lost or lonely. Once you get plugged into a small group or ministry team, you get the sense of a close-knit community that loves each other and loves Jesus.
