Lovely farm in Houston! We came here for some adult and children cooking classes which were super fun and informative. We tried the fresh focaccia bread in the Pop Up Shop and it was delicious! Highly recommend you look up various events and check it out on a nice day! read more

I was volunteering in the area on a Saturday morning and stumbled upon this magical place.. I'm so glad I did! Hope Farms is a beautiful 7 acre farm that has a stand every Saturday from 9am to 12pm and they sell fresh produce picked that same morning. We came towards the end of the market so there wasn't much left but they gave us some great deals! We got 3 boxes of peppers for only $5- they were so fresh and delicious! We walked around the property and there's a lot to see. There's flowers with lots of butterflies, rows and rows of leafy greens, chickens (apparently not enough to sell eggs, but maybe in the future), and even bees in the very back! There is also a gorgeous barn that would be nice to host a gathering at- not sure if they rent it out or plan to in the future. It was such a nice surprise to find Hope Farms- much needed to address the food desert in the Southeast community! I would love to come back earlier in the day to see the whole selection of goods to choose from. read more

If you want true freshness, this is the place. Hope Farms is an inspiration to take care of our bodies with nutrition and create our own meals. No planes, trains or boats to get the abundance that Hope Farms provides. The Saturday market allows you to stock up for the week. The happy staff is amazing and truly care for the farm's production. Today was my first time volunteering here for community service hours and I enjoyed it! I wanted to do something different with exploring to see what was out there and stumbled upon hope farms on yelp. Let me tell you with Houston weather you'll definitely be putting in some work but I enjoyed every minute of it! Tyler and the rest of the crew were supper friendly and also gave a few tips on how to plant . Would deff be going back to volunteer read more

As a resident of the Sunnyside area, I frequent Hope Farms. I enjoy the help from their staff and have even spoken to the farmer. They often have recipes of think that are in season and the ingredients are available to buy that day. My only issue is, many Saturday mornings I don't see the demographics of the surrounding neighborhood. As a garden in the heart of Sunnyside I believe the residents should benefit from the convenience the most. Many residents are low income and rely on SNAP benefits for grocery assistance. There is not much advertisement in the community as there clearly is more in other demographics of neighborhoods. On the plus side Hope Farms does accept EBT and they offer a discount for those living in the surrounding community. Other than needing a broader approach to advertising to those who need it most which can start with small businesses surrounding the site of the garden. read more

Hope Farms is a 7-acre urban agricultural operation designed to grow fresh, affordable produce in the midst of a Houston "food desert" while training and providing small business incubation, co-op services and workforce readiness for U.S. Veterans, preparing them to be urban agri-preeurfrs. Hope Farms is a critical component in achieving Recipe for Success Foundation's mission to mobilize the community to provide healthier diets for children. Our Farm Stand Market is open each Saturday, providing organic seasonal produce freshly picked that morning. Weekly farm share subscriptions are also available.

Established in 2016.

Hope Farms is a project by Recipe for Success Foundation, which was organized in 2005 to combat childhood obesity by changing the way children eat and making it easier for communities to provide healthier diets for our children.

Recipe for Success Foundation was launched in 2005 by Gracie & Bob Cavnar to lead the way in combatting childhood obesity by changing the way children understand, appreciate and eat their food and by helping the community provide healthier diets for our kids. In just a few years, our hands-on curriculum grew to the largest outreach of its kind in the nation, empowering over 4,000 children each and every month with our evidence-based, signature Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education™. Other initiatives, like the VegOut! Challenge, Farmers MarKIDS, Hope Farms and Eat It! Food Adventures, promote a culture where nutritious food is shared, appreciated and celebrated in Houston and nationwide.

I witnessed horses being abused in "training" at Solstice Farms. For ex, the so-called "trainer"…read more repeatedly and violently yanked on a horse's mouth one day, which is obviously counter-productive for training dressage horse. The old saying, "Abuse begins where knowledge ends," is applicable here. I was there when a horse put his eye out in his stall. The stable owner (Marie Morgan) did not ensure that the stalls were safe. Another horse died, but I do not know the circumstances surrounding that occurrence. When my horse got scraped up in her stall, the owner could not have cared less, and seemed more annoyed that I was concerned about my horse's welfare. One evening, I went to check on my horse, and Ms. Morgan threatened to call the police on me for "trespass," even though I was a paying boarder. One day, Ms. Morgan decided to put rocks in the barn aisle, which could have caused stone bruises. She left them there for months. Another act of high strangeness was when she put stalls in the covered dressage arena - an arena that was supposed to be available to boarders for riding. When I asked how long they were going to be there, she informed me that I had to leave her barn (a breach of contract). I would not recommend boarding or training at Solstice Farms. I do not think it is a safe environment for horse or rider.
