While I understand you were busy during the summer with people on a wait list and trying to get them with a therapist, what I didn't like was that no one called me to give me any updates as to when someone would call me. Every time they gave me an approximate date, that date would go by and no one would get back to me. Then I would call again, and get no response. Finally someone called me back and said "based on my review (I assume on Yelp) they have decided I should go somewhere else for therapy". All I was ever asking for was that someone keep me posted on the timeline for expecting to be assigned a therapist. I was told one thing, and then that changed to another time, and then that date passed. When a prospective therapy client is in urgent need of help, that is no way to treat them (by rejection). I may have been impatient, but also I think CIP should improve its communication with its prospective clients. After all the cost share fee (mine was $45) is still alot of money if you pay weekly. I think CIP is very unprofessional, and cares more about their organization and their interns and staff than about the people they serve, who they also charge for services

Then the s**t hit the fan and I learned that talk therapy appointments were doled out like gold. I could get in to see someone once every 6 weeks or so, but weekly? Only if I wanted to call with my weekly crisis and beg to see a therapist du jour, retelling the whole ugly story anew each week until, whoops, time's up! Sometimes in the midst of a storm there's a calm moment and you can see clearly enough to say "I'm sorry you went through all of that schooling only to work for an organization that thinks it's acceptable for you to provide appointments once every six weeks to people in crisis." Then you listen to the dead silence on the other end of the line and then you act. CIP was there for me when I needed them. My initial call was met by an intake counselor with an ear for listening. She then set up the weekly appointments I felt were necessary. It's not a perfect situation: As others have noted, these are therapists-in-training. All sessions are audio taped (with your prior consent) and reviewed after the fact by a licensed therapist who then discusses what they hear with your trainee. On the plus side however, you actually may benefit by having both a licensed therapist and a trainee working to help you (albeit, the licensed therapist is in the shadows, never to be seen by you). You also benefit by getting actual weekly therapy appointments with the same therapist in training. Further, you get all of this on a sliding scale which is based on your personal income and circumstances. There's some paperwork to complete but it's not onerous and prices seemed reasonable (I was paying $65 per session). I'm happy that I don't have a current need for CIP's services but I'm not foolish enough to think that I might never need them again. They perform a great service for the community and I hope they'll still be performing it again, when the need arises.

In other words, there was absolutely no major issues that I sought help for. I simply see mental health professionals as potentially so much more as a way of preventative and health support. I prayed for someone exceptionally well trained, skilled, and experienced. I also had the need for someone highly sensitive, brilliant, and quite spiritual (not religious at all). After just the first session with Nancy, I knew that I had found the right person with all these qualities. What I soon learned is that Nancy is also an extraordinary listener and communicator. I've even told her that sometimes listening to her choice of words, her construction of sentences, and manner in which she delivers her communication is literally music to my ears . . . even at times a work of art. It was always my choice to bring my girlfriends to Nancy with me for couples work early in a relationship. I knew that having Nancy, as a support resource, would not only benefit me and the growth of my relationship, it would also provide a resource for my girlfriend(s) individually if and when they needed support. I was in a steep experiencing mode with women from 2003 through 2010 and brought each relationship to Nancy from the get-go. Nancy provided unique insights and suggestions for my budding relationship(s) and the cycles that each relationship progressed through. I was always willing to look deeply at myself with profound honesty and accept any meaningful feedback that was presented to me. In those instances, I was told that I was able to change myself for the better very, very quickly. Having Nancy as a truly great associate for transformation is invaluable when one strives to become a progressively better and more evolved person. Hence, why I have never written a review to give a zero rating! As of September of 2025, I have been a patient of Celena Fine. Once again, my current provider up and left without notice and I was never notified! I was actually in desperate need of her care as I was in the ICU and the hospital staff had been trying to reach her. Upon discharge I had to make a follow up appt with a primary and I was scheduled with Celena. BEST CRACKER JACK BOX PRICE EVER!! Not only is MCHW the luckiest it's ever been to have found Celena, but so am I and I'm sure I can say this for all of her patients that now have been transferred to her. Plus, the office has a new aura and ambiance as well! They seem HAPPY with smiles and it has to be hearing Celena laugh all day! Her laugh is so contagious that I wish she could prescribe that because 30 min of hearing it, my pain is gone and my mood has shifted to reach the stars! Without going into a storybook of my health, Celena has taken time to get to know me as her patient and my super complicated health journey with such attention to detail that no other PCP has ever done for me. I've never felt rushed whether my appt is in person or over the phone and for the first time I can trust a Physician knowing that it's ok to let my guard down and hand over my worries because Celena literally has made me feel and see she has my best interest and loyalty in the palm of her hands. Doctors who would ask me for medical advice (I work in the field), cancel 8 months worth of appointments which they made me schedule to get a medication I've been on for 18 years, then told me I can't sue them bc of this or that, leadership that couldn't enact meaningful change, phone numbers that wouldn't work, telephone staff that would never pass the patient's message along to the provider, and at one point, a dismissive medical director who was probably a great administrator, but utterly lacking in bedside manner. No wonder the turnover was so high and the place was a mess. BUT, the one shining beacon in the medical department, the reason that I stayed, and I'm sure at least part of the reason the practice has made a massive turnaround to the positive, is PA Celina Fine. She is one of the best providers I've ever had, and I have had an army of them. Celina is kind, professional, clearly passionate about medicine as a practice and an art, and she always listens to the patient and makes them (or me, at least), feel heard, understood, cared for, and safe. And a lot of times, I feel that's as important and as positively influential on a patient's health and well being than a particular diagnosis. People want to be heard and taken seriously. It's as important to one's well being as anything else, imo. I never feel like she's trying to push me out the door, if she doesn't know something, she researches it. She comes in already having looked at your chart (that's how it should be, yet never is), she always follows through and follows up, she's invested, kind, and is great at connecting to the patients. She's also a patient teacher (when trainees have been with her in the room). Her bedside manner always puts a smile on my face, and I have severe medication resistant depression, so that's really saying something. She's the sort of provider you hope walks into your room, and I'm so happy she stayed on. Things started to improve after she started and I bet that's not a coincidence. Other positive things: Cassandra, who answers the phones, is an absolute delight. I always feel lucky when I get her on the phone. She gets things done, does what she says she will, is very professional, and simply has great, positive energy. Maya at the front desk (I think she's new) is also wonderful. Very personable, thorough, and kind. Something that has always been great, even when the medical side of things was a hot mess, was their behavioral health dept. Jamiyah is incredible. I absolutely love interacting with her. I bet if she worked in the medical dept, she would've fixed that place up years ago. I don't know what she gets paid, but that woman deserves a raise all day, every day. Emilia is a wonderful psychiatrist. You can tell she's so invested in your well being. She's kind, earnest, and very smart! My other doctors are often impressed with her knowledge of the newest pharmaceuticals as well as her extremely perceptive plans of action for her patient (me). I also simply enjoy talking to her. If I could talk to her every morning, I'd probably not need as many antidepressants! She's so encouraging and supportive, and if she were my guardian, I'd probably need a lot less therapy.... which brings me to Julie Morris, who is one of the best therapists I've ever had in my 15 years of therapy. She is simply awesome. She honestly makes life just a little more worthwhile. I'm very lucky to have found her. So, if anyone makes it this far: Celina Fine - 6 out of 5 stars Julie and Emilia - 6 out of 5 stars Cassandra, Jamiyah, Maya - 5.5 stars (though Jamiyah is prob 7/5 all on her own) General practice - now a solid 4 and climbing its way from a traumatic 0.5.

They worked to manage my meds very hard and when I emailed them, they, or someone from the office, would email or call me back in about 30 minutes or less. I think I have been seeing them for my meds for 6 or 7 years and I fully recommend them. Simon is the behind the scenes man that runs the TMS machines that will help relax, bipolar, PTSD, paranoid, schizophrenia, effective disorder, anxiety, depression and many other mood disorders. She explained that it only works 60% of the time and I would have to come 5 times a week for six weeks. She said it would be most effective if I am consistent and don't take breaks. I cleared my calendar and committed to the treatments. Halfway through, without notice or explanation, she told me she would be gone for a month. I told her I had committed to this time and she said only that "it couldn't be helped." I asked if someone could cover her and she said "no." We would resume when she came back and she would add extra sessions. I told her I had already made other plans and she just shrugged and repeated "it couldn't be helped ." Clearly, her time was more valuable than mine and, as a patient, I came second. I've never known any doctor, especially a mental health doctor, who didn't have a backup in case of emergency and would abandon a depressed patient. We finished treatment and it didn't help me at all. She said she didn't know if it was because of the break or if I was part of the 40% who didn't respond. She said we could wait a while and start over without any breaks and i said "no thanks." It would mean another huge commitment of time for me and more income for her. I found her practice to be very unprofessional bordering on malpractice and would not recommend her.

I saw Dan Neuharth for a little while, and unfortunately, my experience was not very good. Since…read morethere's limited information about him online beyond his own website, I wanted to share my personal experience in case it helps others on their path toward healing and self-discovery. Therapy can be a major emotional, financial, and time investment. After some reflection, I've come to realize that I left my time with Dan feeling worse than when I began. A subsequent therapist I saw was shocked and concerned by some of the things he said to me. In hindsight, it often felt like the focus was more on him than on helping me. There were moments in therapy where I felt manipulated -- especially after sharing something vulnerable. Dan came across as thin-skinned and reactive, and at times I noticed flashes of what felt like intense anger. On more than one occasion, he spoke very harshly about people he disagreed with or perceived as less intelligent. I didn't fully recognize it at the time, but now I understand just how unsettling this is coming from a therapist who is in a position of power. Looking back, it struck me that so many of Dan's behaviors seemed reminiscent of the negative traits often associated with Donald Trump, including a lack of emotional attunement, more limited compassion, a certain sense of entitlement, and the rapid onset of anger -- at least in my experience with him. Additionally, he would imply what words I should or shouldn't use, and was intense about it. He often stonewalled when he disagreed over relatively minor topics or terms. This felt controlling rather than constructive. Also, he ran late to sessions and was frequently disorganized. I looked into his educational background and found that his psychology degree appears to have come from a for-profit school with a high acceptance rate. A basic search returned poor reviews of the rigor of education there. I could be wrong, and this alone isn't disqualifying, but it added to my concerns about the level of care I received. Over time, it started to feel like Dan struggled with internal confusion or unresolved issues that were being projected onto my work. I believe this affected my ability to gain clarity and feel grounded. After therapy with him ended, those effects began to fade -- but it took time. While I can't speak to Dan's motivations, I've wondered why he chose this profession -- especially with a focus on narcissism -- given the new understanding I have of his conduct. If you are seeking help with narcissistic abuse or trauma, I would advise being cautious. This is simply my experience, and others may have different ones. But based on what I went through, I believe there are better options out there -- especially now that remote therapy has made high-quality care more accessible. There are many ethical, helpful therapists out there. Unfortunately, there are also some who can do more harm than good. Trust your instincts and take care of yourself.

I wouldn't be writing this review of Dr. Dan Neuharth if I hadn't just come across a very negative…read morereview of him, written on July 12, 2025. I don't like publicly outing myself as a former client, but I just cannot let that bad review stand. IMHO, Dr. Neuharth is such an outstanding therapist!! Basically, the short version of what I want to say is that every negative comment made by that reviewer, would be accurate if it were flipped to the reverse. In my experience, Dr. Neuharth is exceedingly respectful and caring. From the first minute of the session to the last minute, he is alert, interested, and totally focused on you, the client. He is exceptionally supportive. He is not reactive or defensive, but routinely invites feedback and criticism. This is extremely healing to people who had to be vigilant as children never to criticize parents. Negative reviewer stated, "Lack of emotional attunement." The opposite is true. Dr. Dan is extremely emotionally attuned. You can see this, in his demeanor, in an interview he did on Dr. Les Carter's "Surviving Narcissism" YouTube channel, and in a talk on RECAMFT YouTube channel entitled "Working Effectively with Clients Raised in Narcissistic Families." It's hard to find a good psychiatrist these days who makes you feel…read morecomfortable and welcomed right off the bat, but Dr. Blaustein is friendly, warm, welcoming, and immediately puts you at ease. He is extremely attentive and demonstrates incredible intelligence, compassion, and sincere care for his patients. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Blaustein and would definitely recommend him! I even referred my younger sister to him and she's also so appreciative to finally have found a wonderful psychiatrist and is a big fan of Dr. Blaustein too!
