It has been a while, but each time Hopsmith does not disappoint as a staple neighborhood Pub. The food is suprisingly tasty, portions are generous, and bar staff is the epitome of midwest-friendly folks! Should have taken picture of classic cheeseburger with sweet potato fries but I was hungry, so I ate it before the thought crossed my mind. Kudos to the Kitchen for creating a nice diverse menu and well presented plates. Food for value is definitely here. They keep late hours from noon to nearly 4am so never fear, Hopsmith's there for ya in those hangry vulturous hours with no compromise to the menu when food options elsewhere are not as plentiful. I also appreciate that the restrooms are on the same level as the main bar, not in the basement as is common in the City. Yes it matters so you dont miss too much Gametime during football Season! Higher sports bar, located near the Gold Coast. As far as places in the area go, it's one of the more reasonably priced, and a good deal for your money too. I got the poutine burger which I had never seen on a menu before, but was quite good and filling. A decent beer selection, plus you can get them in the big 22oz. glasses which are convenient and last you longer before ordering another. On a personal note, we came here to celebrate my brother's engagement, and the whole staff was very friendly and accommodating to our families, and helped put out a nice decorative spread at our tables. It led to a very fun and memorable night. Parking is a bit hard in the area, you can maybe find a metered spot somewhere. The most convenient method is probably taking the red line, it's just a few blocks from the clark division stop. I'd gladly come back again in the future. read more

This is a really nice place to have dinner and even party. During the week it's a restaurant with nice music, whereas on the weekend later at night it turns into a spot on club. This time we got the shrimp tacos and they were a good size portion and deliciously flavored. My bf got the tilapia tacos and they were very well cooked and the sauce was delicious. We also shared mozzarella sticks and they were super filling and enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend because the food was spot on but keep in mind that during the weekends is always packed and if you don't like somewhat loud music, this is NOT your spot. Where do I start. I love Hopsmith, I think it's excellent and I'm British so I know my way round pubs let me tell ya. Hopsmith is like the triple threat of bars, you have great beer, great food as well as great music on a Saturday night around 1:47am. It's like a classier college bar on a Saturday evening, getting upstairs is an absolute must. I just wish it wasn't a Michigan state bar, but let's be real.. nobody's perfect. I really like the tacos as well as the chicken waffle bites. My normal go to is the quinoa bowl with carne asada. Big fan of Hopsmith, it wouldn't feel like home without Mollie, Patrick, Rosa and Steele being 10/10! read more

Stopped by with a great friend here for a late night drink! This spot and the surrounding spots had tents outside for people to dine/drink in, however it got down to the 30s when we visited so we chose to sit inside. We noticed heaters but I guess they weren't an option that night- no big deal. Now that the weather is getting nicer, the tents are an awesome option and have so much space for people to spread out! Out bar tender was fun and all the staff here were wearing masks. That's always great to see as well as the covid social distancing reminders throughout. It was crazy however to see this spot so empty on a Saturday night. Usually it would be packed! The atmosphere is very chill and you could really order anything you wanted here. I got a Prairie Path beer from Two Brothers and it was simply all I wanted. My friend got the mule and she really enjoyed hers! She said it was refreshing and liked how strong the lime was. They have your usual bar food items here to munch on. We just stopped in for drinks but the nachos sounded so good. We'll be back here if we are in this area again! read more

We were in Chicago to celebrate my birthday, my two daughters and myself. We saw the Blue Man Group before checking into our hotel. We decided to grab a drink and a snack prior to shopping, seeing Christmas lights and dinner reservations. We stopped in at Hopsmith and they were packed, but seated us immediately. The server came right over and helped us with our drink selections, then we ordered their Nachos. I have been wanting to try Hopsmith for a while and convinced my friends to try it out for Superbowl Sunday! I made a reservation the day before on yelp which was easy and convenient. The location is awesome for the redline and a few other bus routes and parking isn't too bad either. My friends and I all loved our drinks, we felt like they had something for everyone which was nice. The food was also great fro the price! It is tough to find a fun sports bar with quality food and Hopsmith definitely has that figured out. Our waitress was also awesome, checking in on us often, and even split the bill between all 8 of us at the end of the night. Overall great atmosphere for a game night or just a relaxed night out. Here's the deal... I attended a work event. It was a packed upstairs bar. The staff did their best. Good beer and good finger food. The night went on. The crowd thinned out. It was time to leave, but my coat was missing. In the same location was a coat that looked and was sized the same, but not mine. I asked the staff and they were incredibly supportive. Louie came to the rescue. He recognized that the remaining coat was possibly the owner of the person who inadvertently took mine. He took the coat, took my number, and text me he would be on the outlook. I thought I was out a nice coat. Later that evening I received a text from Louie that my coat was retuned. WOW, just WOW! The attention to detail and truly great service was impressive. To the owners of Hopsmith, you have a good staff and really great coworker. Give that guy a shot and a raise! read more

Of course it's icy cold and delicious but what will surprise you is how positively fresh and yummy the wraps and tacos and salads are at Hopsmith. She has such a great personality--super friendly, easy to talk to, and made us feel right at home from the moment we sat down. She was really attentive without being overbearing, and you could tell she genuinely enjoys what she does. It's rare to find someone who brings that kind of energy. She definitely made our experience better, and I'd definitely recommend sitting at her section if you're at Hopsmith! read more

My group and I went to celebrate a friends birthday. Not going to lie our original plan was Shenanigans across the street, but after seeing the line we decided to venture across the street to Hopsmith. We were graciously greeted by the bouncer who was a very kind fellow greeting everyone with a kind wave into the establishment. But once we ventured upstairs I was quick to realize why the line was so short. First off, the standard of cleanliness was subpar. For example I had the relieve myself in the restroom and the urinals were covered with vomit!!! This was not cleaned for hours. This level of disrespect toward the patrons in the establishment to not clean the bathrooms is seriously concerning as that is the way that they would like to present themselves to the public. Another qualm that I have was the crowd control. I know that I mentioned there was not a line prior, but it seemed that people could've gotten in with a Subway gift card as an ID. It was not just packed it was in fact crammed. One member of my group had to use the restroom and it took the 20 minutes to walk maybe 20 meters. The bartenders were not equipped well enough to properly service these patrons of the bar. The time to get a new beverage were outstanding, and you would think at the price point that they charge that there would be some urgency to serve everyone in a timely manner. The only reason I give this place 2 stars and not one is simply because it is the holidays and I am feeling quite festive. I would NOT recommend this experience for anyone read more

I had a very positive experience at this place. All of the staff that I interacted with was super friendly and helpful at advising what to order off the menu. They have a wide selection of beers on draft. It was super easy to find something to my liking. Also their fries were AMAZING! I even had to take some home because I was so full and ended up eating them later, COLD, out of the fridge and hold onto your seats because they were still great. I know. Unheard of. But yes. They survived refrigeration. The set up of the place was also really neat. I loved the upstairs portion-- lots of windows that gave it gorgeous lighting during the day. read more

I love this place that is located near other burger and bar joints on Division!! Their burgers, even the plain, regular burger, and French fries are awesome. A handsomely large beer list. I came here for the first time on a Wednesday at 8:15PM. Here's a few tips: make a reservation, ask your server for daily specials, sign up for rewards program! There is a bustling bar/restaurant atmosphere. Our server was so sweet, and explained the daily special- which was half off cocktails, and .... you had me at half off cocktails. Noise level was high and half the time I couldn't hear what our server was saying. This place is best when you just want to shoot the sh** with your friends. The food was actually decent for a bar. I ordered a salad (I can't remember which one) and remember it was drench in dressing. Other than that, I loved it. Note to self: order dressing on side. My husband ordered the burger and gobbled it up. One thing that we ordered that we did not care for was the wrap with Brussel Sprouts due to taste. I am defiantly coming back here. Such a fun place. I hadn't visited in a few years, but some friends and I went to watch a football game this past Saturday afternoon. The staff were all super friendly and helpful - our waitress did an amazing job keeping our orders straight with 12 people, and everything was timely. I had it Nashville Hot. YUM! It was SPICY but soo so good. The chicken itself was juicy with a nice light crunchy exterior. The sauce seemed like a mix of Nashville hot and buffalo wing sauce, which I thought was really good. My significant other and I visited Chicago for the weekend and Hopsmith opened up early on Sunday for the Women's World Cup Final, which was our main reason for checking this place out. They were also just a few blocks away from the hotel we were staying at. They have a very large draft beer selection and quite the array of TV's as you walk in, so I at least knew that I was going to enjoy watching the world cup final here. We sat at the bar and ordered some coffee to start the morning with. We placed an order for the cinnamon roll to start with and we relaxed and enjoyed the game. The cinnamon roll came out and it was piping hot. It was also raw in a good way, very gooey. We scarfed it down in a matter of minutes which was probably a terrible idea, but I enjoyed every bite of it. For some reason, I was craving breakfast nachos, so I ordered them. My significant other ordered the breakfast tacos. Now, I am not sure who came up with the menu here, but when the food came out, it was quite astonishing. There were 3 tacos on the plate and my nachos could literally feed four to six people. The funny part as that they were both nearly the same price. I did my best with the nachos, but it was an impossible task. We eventually switched to cocktails and we both loved the Fat-Mosa. I highly recommend this drink. It was awesome. We enjoyed our drink through the entirety of the World Cup. The best part was that the US won the tournament! Overall, I'll definitely come and check out Hopsmith again. The food was good, not my favorite, but definitely enjoyable, and the beverage selection was also excellent. That Fat-Mosa for brunch is where it's at. read more

Went there in late June of 2018 and noticed their Chicken & Waffle bites. They are definitely the best chicken nuggets/bites in town (so far). Juicy soft and powdery, they make a great taste for a meal in and of itself. The sauce is also great.
