I wish they offered better, healthier options, and spent a little more money on the food budget. Other than that, the management is excellent, always on top of things, and they have great communication with the family which is so important. They also go above and beyond and do things like look for my Mom's remote, when she thinks she has lost it for the 10th time, help her organize, and just sit and laugh with her. In fact, the building used to be where the nuns lived. They've since expanded and turned it into an assisted living facility. I placed my mom at Tree of Life, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The owner, Tina, always keeps me updated on my mom's health and well being. She and her staff treat my mom like family. Tina goes above and beyond the call of duty. She drives my mom to doctor appointments, when my mom ended up in the hospital, Tina came to visit her everyday, and Tina even brought her a suitcase of clothes when she asked. I am so impressed with the personal attention my mother has received. Residents receive 3 meals a day, plus snacks. They also enjoy daily social activities like sewing, painting, gardening, playing cards, baking, etc. There's even weekly field trips. The residents all get medical alert bracelets, so if they ever need some help, all they have to do is press that button and staff will come help. They have a beauty shop on site, plus an elevator to each level. The place truly feels like a home. All the residents and staff are so welcoming. I would absolutely recommend Tree of Life Assisted Living to other families.

We had been to visit other facilities in the area and this on looked very nice. The grounds were well kept and the apartments were light and clean. It had a great looking dining room and many activities for mom to enjoy. We both agreed it was the best. I spent 3 months away from my home getting mom moved in and adjusted to her new home. I went back to California in October telling mom I would return right after Christmas. She was healthy and doing fine at the end of October. On November 16 I got a call telling me that she had passed. Of coarse I was devastated and returned to Edgewood on the 17th of November. I was told that I had 3 days to move her out of her 2 bedroom apartment. I tried to talk to the management and called a number of times to try and explain that this was not even possible. I had no where to stay except in her apartment and needed to make arrangements for her memorial, as well as figure out what to do with her things. It was the beginning of winter which I was not used to being from California. It was so upsetting to me and I wasn't doing very good. What with the blowing snow, cold and major grief as well as shock over the loss of my mom I needed to explain that it would take me longer than the 3 days they gave me. She had a full apartment. Furniture, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms all filled. I knew that she had paid through the end of November. I was told that she was on a "sr waiver" and that stopped paying the day she died. I called every agency for help. Finally her social worker got in touch with me and told me she was self pay for the apartment rent. Tand had an attorney call. I was told that the sr waiver covered extras so I had until the end of November. This all happened over thanksgiving week so I was throwing so much of her stuff away. I had given away both beds and packed her van with the important things. I had no where to sleep because the beds were gone. I had been treated so badly I was literally sick. The management had told me point blank I had to be out. It was a nightmare. Because I am disabled i didn't have extra money to get motel rooms. It cost me my monthly check to fly there. I ended up getting her memorial together on dec 6. I was living homeless for over 2 weeks because I was told that I had to go. I had many friends in the area still that I had gone to high school with and they graciously helped me out and let me stay with them. But Edgewood's management didn't bother to get in touch with me to let me know I could stay until the end of the month. This made my moms passing even worse. I was so stressed out that I spent most of the time crying and shaking. I did get almost everything out by the end of the month. I was told that habitat for humanity would remove the 2 dressers and 1 vanity that was left. I was shocked when I gOt a call on December 11th and was told that I was responsible for rent through that day because "the furniture was still there". Edgewood had locked up the apartment so habitat could not get it out. No one bothered to tell me this. The management at Edgewood was so cold and non responsive throughout this horrible time in my life it still shocks me. One would think that when your dealing with this type of population you would know how to deal with families experiencing loss. I was treated so badly by these people that I am still dealing with the repercussions of PTSD. I miss my mom horribly. She was very healthy and vibrant with no issues at all until she just died. If your considering moving a loved one in there I would suggest you contact an attorney and get their death policy in writing or this could happen to you. I am sick to my stomach as I look over the bill that I just got in the mail. They are charging me "room, board and amenities". I find this disgusting and wrong. What type of amenities and board was she using considering she was dead. Shame on you Edgewood. I do need to say that the nursing and kitchen staff were kind. It was the management that were horrible.

My father has been in this facility for nearly 9 months. I am extremely displeased with the…read moremanagement and all aspects of Woodcrest for the following reasons: 1) Misleading and dishonest marketing. Facemasks were not required for the initial meeting presenting a friendly, congenial atmosphere. After they got your money, masks were militantly enforced with rude interruptions by staff during visitations. The general manager, Gail Rucks, even threatened to call the police if I tried to visit my 93 year old father again. When I asked for proof of state mandated masks, all she could produce were MDH and CDC "guidelines". In spite of the strict enforcement for visitors, staff members have been seen without masks in this facility... 2) High Cost. Woodcrest prices were 43% higher than prices that I received for identical services (less memory unit) at a nearby senior facility. 3) Poor Patient/Staff communication. My father called a staff member by phone from his room and could not understand him. The staff member said he would stop by, but never did. This also represents a lack of integrity. 4) Confusing Facility Layout for Visitors. My father's senior friends find it difficult to navigate from the Main entrance to his room. Woodcrest staff members have refused to bring my father to the entrance, or escort visitors to his room so his friends may take him out. This has significantly limited a 16 year relationship with his lady friend. 5) Cheap and Poorly Maintained Landscaping. The memory unit's enclosed courtyard was nearly devoid of trees, flowers, and shrubs, and looked pathetic. This is the only space where residents can, with permission, get a breath of fresh air. My wife provided a professional landscape design at no cost. Additional plants were installed, with my wife's help, but I have not been back to see it. 6) Disposable Dinner ware. One might think that the most expensive senior facility in the area could serve meals on nice, reusable dinnerware, but this is not the case. They use cheap, disposable, environmentally unfriendly plates and cups. My father complains of cutting through the styrofoam with his knife.

First she had another resident of the memory unit come into her room and manhandle her. To which Gail said that what our mother said was mostly lies of what really happened. Talking to the wonderful staff we found out that this same lady had manhandled several other residents. The staff told Gail that this lady needed more care than what they could give her. But Gail said who would be paying for the room then, we need the income. SAD!!!! When money means more than the safety of the residents. As we came to know the staff and talking to them about different things we understood why the turn over rate was so high. Nurses cried as they told us different things, like how Gail would yell at them in meetings and told them not to document different things that should have been documented. We had several meetings with Gail and the head nurses. We didn't get to far into one of the meetings when my brother told the ladies that when they would like to start telling the truth about things to let him know and he left the meeting. We have caught Gail in so many lies it was just unreal. But anyway this is what really crushed us. Our mother passed away on Monday the 27th of June. Today June 29 my brother went and turned in our keys because we had everything out of our mom's room. The only one that was in the office was Gail. All she could say was thank you for turning in the keys. Nothing like, sorry to hear that your Mom passed away, no, you have my sympathy NOTHING. The woman has no heart. Trace, the secretary came just hours after mom's passing with hugs for all of us Josh, the super nice maintenance dude, even talked to me about our mom. But the head lady, Gail couldn't be human for one minute. We have heard that Gail's contract is up in a few months. The best thing that the CEO could do is not renew her contract.

The cupboards are old and doors do not close tight. The sink is outdated as are the countertops. Now they want each resident to check in when they come in and go out. It's ridiculous.
