I have taken more than a month to settle down before writing this review, so I can offer…read moreinformation that is helpful, and not hot-headed. (Yes, I can laugh now!) Our HOA hired Show Me to clean up the scrub that was hanging in the retention pond, and specifically, an area where the outfall was blocked by a small, downed scrub tree. The fellow who gave us the estimate did not see a need to walk five houses down from our address to view that specific area. (Indulge me as I remind you it is the "Show Me Tree Service".) He seemed confident it would not take more than a day. He was on time, courteous and explained how they would tackle the job, which included putting a boat in the water to drag branches out and onto the easment next to our house. Sounded like they had done this before. If you are considering hiring any tree service, I recommend the following: Get it all in writing. Never pay a flat day fee without knowing how long the day will be, whether it includes breaks, and how long those breaks will be. Is the clock ticking while they stand and scratch their heads because the guy who gave you the estimate never communicated the specifics of the job to the foreman? Is transportation time counted as part of that day? If it is, how much time is it? Ask how/if the day rate is re-configured if a machine should break down for half the day ( and yes, they have to come back another day, which means more transportation time chipping away at the clock). If you say you have a boat you can put in the water, will you actually use the boat? What circumstances would make you decide not to use the boat? Be sure to mark all the trees you do not want them to touch- even if you think it is far away enough from the job that they couldn't possibly make that mistake! Waiting chainsaws=itchy fingers! See photos below of 4 year old tree that was originally naturally landscaped to the ground to help obstruct the "lovely" view across the way. This tree was nowhere near the retention pond they were contracted to clear (one foot from my fence), and it clearly wasn't "scrub". They did, however, leave scrub trees that were right on top of the water. Oh, and the excuse for why THAT particular tree was shaved and garbage scrub was left? He didn't know. He thought he was here to "clean up" the retention pond near our lot only. They were nice, courteous, and on time. It did not make up for the poor communication, disorganization and an awful lot of standing around. I blame myself because the signs were there. Ask all the questions and heed all I suggested above and you may have better luck. We cut our losses.

Show Me Tree Service did work at my home on June 20, 2023. They…read more removed the trees, they removed the debris, but didn't grind stumps. Unprofessional and unorganized. On their business card it clearly sates stump grinding so why my stumps weren't is puzzling to me. The required work was not completed with reasonable skills and care using materials of suitable quality. The work was not completed to the standard to be expected of a reasonably competent professional. They failed to fulfill my statutory obligations. After the River Oaks Outdoor team "completed" our project we found the job was not completed as laid out in the contract. River Oaks Outdoor took no responsibility in proactively correcting their work and offered no apology for their cut corners. Very specific instructions, measurements, and even drawings were provided for this project…read more Unfortunately, Mike completely disregarded them and added design elements we did not ask for because he "thought we'd like it." The result was not what we requested, and I ultimately had to go outside and remove what he installed and redesign the rock bed myself using the measurements I originally gave him. I gave him $900 for a sod order, but shortly after receiving the payment the order was cancelled by him because "we aren't ready" when really it was because he kept saying he was coming to do work then not showing up or communicating he was no longer coming as scheduled. Communication was very poor. He frequently did not show up when he said he would and did not notify us when he wasn't coming. He also brought his uncle to pour concrete. They stated they would coordinate rerouting the sprinkler line, but that never happened. When he turned on the sprinklers, I specifically asked him not to turn on zone 4 because the new concrete was there. He turned it on anyway, which cracked the brand-new concrete. At that point our yard was left dug up, rocks were placed in areas we never requested, and the overall condition of the property was messy. We decided it was best to part ways. When I requested a quote for the work that had already been completed (trying to be fair), and to use the $900 cash we paid for the SOD that was canceled by him. He initially said $425 would be returned. Shortly after, he changed that and said I should give him an additional $100 because the work was "hard." then he eventually tried say it should just be $225. So ultimately, he wanted $675 to half way grade the back yard and lay rock where we didn't request it. It has now been three days of being told the refund would be brought to our home, and he still has not refunded anything.
