This is a locally owned family business. I have been using them since 2012 for pool repairs. They are an excellent business, very friendly, and very responsive. My pump just went down and I had them upgrade my whole system. Because the pump was down, they came out quickly to repair the pump. They gave my system a total overhaul but only recommended what they felt need to be replaced. In others words, there were valves and actuators that I thought needed to be replaced that they told me was not necessary at this time. There were also a couple of items that they discovered after the pump was back on line that they repaired and did not add to the invoice. My pool was very dirty and the pool water heater did not work, I called them and they told me that they could go and check my pool in a week or two (the girl in the phone is awful), I had to call another company and pay for a service that I pay to be done every month, the pool was very dirty and all that covered the drains. After the hurricane I knew they were having trouble catching up, but after almost two weeks later, I realized that my pool was the only one not treated. I called many times and wrote, but the reception was the only contact I was able to talk to. By the third week I decided to cancel service and still no manager would be able to talk with us. I went in today to replace my pool net: the fine white plastic mesh in the one I've had for a few years had finally started ripping because I don't rinse off the chlorine after using it and I leave it out in the sun. So, naturally, I went to the back and took a new net off the rack and brought it up front and bought the whole new assembly. Before I left, I happened to mention that it was the netting that was ripping and the owner happened to be sitting there and told me "well, you know you can just buy a new net and replace it if the rest of the thing is ok" and he showed me what to do. So they just charged me for the new net and refunded me the difference. It's not a big deal moneywise, but I've got to give the guy "props" for just doing the right thing! Our Pool Heat Pump died after a long and appreciated life. After contacting multiple companies and receiving widely variable quotes, we chose Horizon Pool & Patio in Wellington. We agreed to their contract on a Thursday, giving them a down payment the same day, we waited. On Monday, I opened my blinds to see our new Aquacal Heat Pump sitting outside. The next morning, Tuesday, I saw at a truck in my driveway at 8:30 AM. The pool heat pump was installed by 10AM. Quick, efficient, and gracious explanations. I went to a local franchise pool store in Wellington to have my water tested. They told me I needed several chemicals for my pool, totaling over $80.00. I just wasn't comfortable with this since it seemed so high. I then took my sample to Horizon Pool and Patio and they told me I needed about $15.00 worth of chemicals. The one very expensive chemical that the franchise store said I needed was not even on Horizons diagnosis. I followed Horizons suggestions and the pool looked perfect in just a few days. I fired these guys and replaced them with someone who was factory trained do the work right. Poor repair job. We had Horizon's guy come to the house to install a pump that I provided. After he left, it was clear that it wasn't installed correctly. I called the installer who was hesitant to come back out and wanted to fix over the phone. I had my pool and patio resurfaced through Horizon which I am very happy with their sub contractors they used however, their pool service and follow up was sub par at best. Since our yard is fenced and I have a large dog I requested a "call ahead" so I could put the dog away for the pool to be cleaned. I was told they don't "call ahead." I asked if they could give me a day and time frame when they might come to clean the pool and that was also denied. Several times they came unannounced only to be met by my dog. Was my pool cleaned and checked? Who knows. I sure was charged. A few times cleaning equipment was left from the cleaner and I can only assume that it was dropped as he rushed to get out of the yard when the dog appeared. Ultimately the service was cancelled. The last straw was when their technician added 8 bags of salt to the pool even though they knew we did not have a salt generator. The pool was salty and unusable for quite some time. We were forced to buy a salt generator at an expense we hadn't planned for. As a result, I chose to pay over several months as my budget would allow. Their CFO, Jennifer has been over the top rude. She needs a Management 101 class on how to speak to customers instead of insulting them about how they paid their bill, how their company is NET 15, how they are a small business and not a bank, how they have to pay their suppliers. I too have a small business so I am well aware of what that entails and I certainly don't need to be told. It's a shame a few bad apples spoil the bunch. It far outweighs any good that was done. Over the last 2 weeks we had our pool deck sand blasted, when the company was done ( not Horizon) there was about 1 inch of sand all over the bottom floor of the pool. I called Horizon and spoke to a lady, she quoted me $60.00 a visit and it sounds like you will need 2 visits. I asked her if they had equipment to handle the sand, she said no problem. Somehow it just did not seem right. 3 Days go by and I called back again to Horizon, spoke to a gentleman, he said it sounds like we need to come over to see area. Guy comes out looks at pool states he thinks it will be 2 visits. On Monday they send a TECH out said he would be here anywhere from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Tech arrives at 2:04 this is on a Saturday and at 3:08 says he has to leave to be with his family. I said what do you mean, he said that he thought this would be a 20 minute job and he would be done. So, I called his boss and told him this and then was charged $60.00 for 2 get it 2 steps of sand that the Tech did, no more for $60.00. What a rip off, spoke twice, they came out once and then send Tech out not knowing what he is getting into. I just wanted the sand out of my pool. Just so you all know, it did not take 20 minutes but 6.5 hours of steady vacuuming pool. Horizon in this case had really BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

I mistakenly hired this company to install a handrail for my pool. Someone came out and inspected the area then emailed me a quote. I approved the quote and sent a deposit. They said it would be done the following week. The day of installation, the owner called and said, "I'm sorry, but this job is going to take Much longer and be Much more $$ than I quoted you." I was quite disappointed and thought it was very shady to do that, so I said, "Just send my deposit back and I'll get some other quotes." After a few weeks, I finally got the deposit back (MINUS $10!) I guess that is their "we suck and know it" fee. This is no way to do business! The owner was not at all accommodating. Plenty of other pool companies in South Florida to choose from. Do Not use Horizon unless you like being ripped off and lied to. read more

When moving from California to Wellington Horizon was recommended by my home inspector for pool inspection. Chuck Grove was wonderful and did a really good job. Therefore when we moved in I did not hesitate to call them to have my pool drained and acid washed. Their technician did a good job with cleaning the pool, but I had asked him to replace all the burnt out light bulbs in our fountains and pool while he was at it. 2 of the 4 were left hanging out of their sockets. Weeks later my pool guy brought to my attention that the spa which is attached to the pool was not acid washed. Minor fixes that I was able to accomplish with a gallon of muriatic acid and a screwdriver. Some time later our pump died and we called them out again to replace it. They replaced it one day while we were at work with the exact pump we had requested and by and large it was what we asked for. However, our pipes were set slightly too high for the pump to rest level on the concrete slab, so the technician shoved a piece of pressed wood board under it to level. Again, an easy fix as we just traded it out for a more water friendly alternative. Finally we were having issues with our fountains and our pool heater. We called on a Saturday and they said they would get somebody out next week. No call, no show for the entire week. I was lucky enough to be home when the technician finally came out later the following week. He looked at our set up and said he would not be able to fix the fountains without having his "engineer" come out. I told him I thought a faulty check valve was to blame and asked if we could just get that replaced to see if it rectified things. He said "ok". Then the heater. The technician turned the heater on and pronounced it functional. I insisted he stick around for a minute as after it got going it would over heat and throw an error code, which it did. Without any examination the technician pronounced the thermostat bad. He left and promised to call with a quote. Two weeks later while we are out of the country I get a voicemail with a quote and the technician saying he would call back to schedule the repair. Never got a call back and instead got an $85 service call bill 2 months later. $85 to turn a switch on, yep I feel swindled. We had Blue Lagoon pool come out and look at the heater where they actually took it apart and found a clogged fuel line. They also replaced the faulty check valve and our fountains were up and running. Repairs were made to our system long before I had even received the call with the quote from Horizon. There may be some decent technicians at this company and the owner is certainly a lovely man, however I can't say I have had any completely positive experiences with Horizon outside of my initial pool inspection. Go elsewhere if you want timely and professional work completed. read more

Pool pump worked fine on a Sunday afternoon.....died on a Monday morning when it had to go back to work I guess. Anyway, 2 pool repair phone calls later and no one could make it out same day to look at it. So, after watching a quick youtube video on pump repair I pulled off the motor and hauled it in to Horizon. Marty was incredibly helpful, in fact so helpful that it was more like an hour long educational session. I ended up buying a new motor. It was a bit more expensive then I could have ordered it for online, but I ended up saving on the labor and installed it myself. In conclusion, this place is fantastic. Will definitely go back again. They started with replacing my pump and resealing my lights.They changed the pump but took my check valves so my spa was loosing water every time the system shut off. then the lights filled up with water. I asked them to come back and the same problem no call back. this went on for about 6months. Then I was told that it had been to long for them to guarantee . they said they would be out the following week , so ask them not to come on Monday because I would not be there.
