Horizon Technical Consultants is a third-party test center, for educational and professional certifications. A benefit of using this location is free parking in the building's underground garage. This second-floor location is comprised of three rooms: - an office for check-in, with small lockers for personal belongings. - the main test room, which has a few aisles of computers and cubicles with privacy walls. Each cubicle is equipped with headphones, to reduce ambient noise. - a unisex bathroom with ADA grab bars. Personal effects -- including phones, wallets, watches, and keys are not permitted in the test room, and must be stored in a locker. As a result, try to bring as little as possible to the test center. I had no issues with this test center. The administrator was polite; the computer, monitor, mouse, headphones, and bathroom were all clean. I would recommend arriving at the test center at least 30 minutes before your exam, to take care of any pre-exam logistics. read more

I should have read the reviews before booking this testing location to take one of the biggest exams of my career. This place is a joke. Pervez and the owner were extremely condescending, and verbally attacked me because their information is misleading. The ONLY reason I selected this location is because it clearly states "Free Parking" which recently changed according to them. I called the office after being instructed to move my car to see where I should park. Pervez yelled "Move your car before they tow it, park on the street". Understood, but why does your website say its free parking if it isn't? Places like these rely on people being nonchalant when these things should actually be updated instead of being brushed over. People pay a lot of money to take these exams, and the owner makes millions (this is what he told me) off of these contracts with these companies. Then you're rude to me (Pervez) over the phone and don't take accountability of an error? When I get in the office, he again very rudely says "Turn off your phone" which was inside my bag. As I'm turning off my phone I respond to him "You're being very rude". He replies "I'm being rude? You're not taking this exam here." We go back and fourth for about 5 minutes as to why I'm rude lol, and how I cannot take the exam even though I'm on time and complying with the requests. The owner, who I didn't get his name actually sided with him saying he had me on speaker and I was being rude to him in regards to the parking. Sir, your testing site advertises free parking, when in fact it is not. And when I say something about it I'm told I cannot take my exam anymore. The proctor Pervez also told me they didn't care about my service or my voucher which is what I used to schedule the exam through my company. The worst part of it all is they added a case to my appointment stating I REFUSED TO TURN MY PHONE OFF, which was a complete lie. I already filed a complaint with the company I used to schedule the exam. Luckily, the company allowed me to reschedule my exam with the same voucher. I will find out how to file a complaint against that proctor in particular because I've never received such sexism, and racism. Please schedule your exam elsewhere, and good luck! read more

I took my PANCE at this location and I had a good experience. There is a parking lot in the back which is great. Once you enter you go to the suite and they have very clean protocols with covid and you get your temperature checked, you sanitize, and you sign in. There are several computers between each test taker. There are noise canceling headphones at each cubicle and dividers between each person as well. You also get your own locker for valuables and a place to put snacks for those taking long tests. There are bathrooms at the end of the hall which are single person and were clean. The proctors were very nice and professional and very helpful. It was a very relaxing testing experience and I would 100% come back to take another exam here. read more

I was grossed out because there was hair and eraser dust on the table & dust on the keyboard. Shows you how much they sanitize & clean their equipment. They provide you with noise canceling headphones. I tried to use them but they didn't work for me. I still heard every everything & they gave me a headache. And who knows the last time they cleaned them either?! The lobby/office is very small & there were a lot of people there to take different tests so it was very cramped. The woman was nice, just very disorganized. If you get there before your scheduled test time & there's a computer available, she'll let you test early. I didn't like that she told people not to take breaks so they would be finished faster. I was taking a 300 minute test, I need some time to blink, breathe, or have a moment to myself! The computers are relatively new, they have Windows 8. They could use better furniture though. The tables are those plastic folding tables you use for BBQs in your back yard. If you erase too hard you'll shake the whole table & disturb the other people taking their test next to you. I've never been to a testing center that made me take off my watch, but that wasn't a big deal to me. I just wish they had a clock on the wall so I knew the time & wasn't just guessing. If you get here early enough you can find decent parking. Street sweeping in the area is on Thursdays & Fridays. (Keep that in mind when scheduling your test!) The entrance is around the corner on 70th Road. Honestly, if it didn't look like someone took their shed or garage & put some cheap tables, chairs, & computers inside, I would've rated it higher. read more

The absolute worst experience. I am not certain how this "establishment" is an authorized PSI center. Upon entering this small, cramped 2nd floor room, we were literally pushed and shoved in without apologies. The office is completely unorganized and in disarray. The lady who runs the facility is unprofessional, obnoxious, rude, and tactless. The equipment is not sufficient for exam taking as it continuously freezes. The rooms are unsanitary to feel any sort of comfort while waiting or testing. While beginning to start my exam my computer froze, I requested assistance, the lady came in and had a fit; after a couple of minutes, unbeknownst to me, she started my exam for me and did not advise me. After several seconds of trying to regroup and not knowing my exam had begun, I asked if she started my exam and I was then verbally abused and berated. I was called illiterate in the exam room, which clearly, I am not. I was told I did not belong there, and she was not there to teach me computers or do my exam. I held my composure while being completely degraded and demoralized by this women. I was asked to step out and put into a small office where we exchanged words. Upon me telling her I would contact the BBB I was not allowed to continue my exam. She was literally screaming at me while other test takers were testing. The lack of professionalism, the lack of care or concern for other's was put in the forefront. I was helpless and had to accept her erratic and outrageous behavior. Her careless nature, her disregard, her condescending tone, and aggressive approach should scare anyone considering this test location away. The issue began with her equipment not being adequate and resulted in a verbal attack on my ability and education. Consequently, I was forced to forfeit my exam. I reported this incident to several organizations and as I was told investigations will be conducted. This is a very scary environment and her actions, her demeanor, her aggression, her manic behavior did not go unnoticed. In this day and age, her slurs should not go without being reported. I hope my experience never happens to another and I certainly hope none of the other test takers were negatively impacted by the incidents of the day. read more

I came in last week and waited over half an hour for the old man to let me start the exam. I came in on time for my exam. Even 10 minutes early. But the old man is so slow and addressed 6 other people before me. They weren't even on line like I was. I was 2nd in line, but seen last. It seems like he doesn't care. I wish I would have read the other review on here before I took a professional exam at this place. Let's talk about my experience there. The woman was rude the minute I got in there. She was absolutely unorganized. The computers were not even set up for those of us who came in to take exams. Then she made a point to tell us that we must be quiet and that we could nit even talk in their small, dingy waiting room. We then went into the small, cramped computer room where we practically sat on top of each other. As I sat there trying to concentrate on my exam that I needed to pass (obviously), I had to put on my headset just to block out the noise coming from not in the room but in the waiting room. Even with the headset on, I could hear doors opening and shutting from the other room, the woman speaking to other people, laughing, the phone ringing and so forth. At this point, I became extremely annoyed because I paid a lot of money to take my exam and I expected to be in a quiet atmosphere in which I could concentrate so I got up, took off my headset, opened the door to the waiting room and the the woman and two other people were still laughing loudly. I told them that I paid a lot of money to take my exam and that they were being too loud and it was disturbing. The two other people apologized whereas the woman just gave me an attitude. I then went back into my exam being that I actually had to take time out of my exam to explain this to her. She then followed me in there and told me to put my headset on. I told her that I did have it on but I had to get up to talk to her. She then put on the headset and told me to talk to her, I didn't say a word because I didn't want to distract the other people that were crammed into this tiny room. She then said that I must have "bionic hearing" because she couldn't hear me. I told her thst I didn't say anything that's why she couldn't hear me. She then made it a point to tell me that there was a doctor in the other room taking an exam and his she hadn't complained about the noise. I said to her "I'm sorry I didn't realize that just because she was a doctor that she was better than me." She then stormed out of the room. When it came to the end of my exam and time for me to leave, she just had to bring up the doctor again. I just plainly told her that I didn't care what she does and why she was there and that she was no better than myself (or the others that were there) and my purpose ( and their purpose) of being there. I don't know why my review seems to have gotten filtered out before, but here goes attempt number two: I was at Horizon Technical Consultants recently and this is what I have to say about the place. First of all, the business is located at an area that has plenty of free street parking nearby. The premises were clean and tidy. I especially appreciated that the bathroom was clean. There were two testing rooms, one smaller room and one larger room to the back. All testing stations had plenty of room to comfortably take the test. I was also provided with a comfortable noise cancellation headphone and some writing equipment. The computers seemed new and in good working condition. There was also a locker provided to keep my belongings in. The staff were friendly and accommodated to my needs appropriately. Overall the business seemed very well kept. Please be aware though not to take a bulky bag to the test if possible. My handbag is pretty large, and even though it fit in the locker, I did have to sort of stuff it in. I read some of the previous reviews, and I have to say I did not encounter the problems the others spoke of. I know that test day experience is unique to each individual, but I had a positive experience at Horizon Technical Consultants. I would recommend this place to others. read more

The guy who was administrating the exam was very disrespectful and rude to me. I told him nicely if he could please lower his voice because I was not able to concentrate on my test that I paid for and he said you can leave if you don't like it. I lost complete concentration and was not able to take the exam with confidence because of him. This is unacceptable and not fair. Went to this testing center recently to take the CompTIA A+ exam. Staff are accommodating, friendly, and efficient. Testing amenities including computers and lockers are all in excellent condition. The testing room is reasonably quiet, even with multiple test-takers present. Noise-cancelling headphones are also provided to increase desired silence. It is what you make of it. I've definitely been to better testing centers, but this one gets the job done. It's not the cleanest, nicest place but that also makes it far less intimidating. Don't be surprised when you walk into a dingy, cluttered office. BUT I can't complain too much because I was able to comfortably take my test. The woman at the front is direct and friendly enough. I don't understand why people make such a big deal about her. You're not there to have tea and cookies with her. You're there to sit down and ignore everyone and everything but your exam for however many hours. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR THE HEADPHONES! My experience unfortunately lives up to the other poor reviews on here. I've since reported this place to my proctoring organization, the BBB, and the organization for which I was taking this certification through. This is my formal complaint sent to the above mentioned organizations: Good morning, I am writing to communicate several concerns regarding my experience at one of your testing centers this past Friday. Quite frankly, it was the worst testing center I have ever attended, and I think it's important that Kryterion (and ISSP) is aware of with whom they are entrusting their reputation. I scheduled the ISSP-SA exam to take place on Friday, August 3 at 10am at Horizon Technical Consultants--7060 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY 11367. When I arrived, I was immediately taken aback by the stench of the office and the surrounding filth. The office was poorly-lit and smelled like a mix of mildew and human feces. The restroom had cleaning products piled in the corner, but it looked like no one had cleaned it--or the office--in quite some time. The entire center was dusty, disorganized, and full of stacks of papers--something out of an episode of Hoarders. I was greeted by a man who seemed friendly at first, but very flustered and certainly not familiar with the testing procedures or the computing systems. I showed him my registration confirmation, along with the testing code, and he had a difficult time understanding which test I was scheduled for, and how to sign me into his system to begin the exam. English was clearly not his first language because I could tell he struggled to read. When I gave him my credit card as a form of secondary identification, he held it upside-down and nodded his head. After several minutes of waiting (and offering him random suggestions), he finally got my test up and running. I locked my belongings up, and grabbed one sheet of paper and one pencil per his instructions. The pencils were all missing erasers, not sharpened recently, and many had bite marks on them. He then lead me to the back room where two other tests were already in progress. The computers were set up with no partitions between most of them ( I saw only one paper/plastic partition towards the end of the table), and were sitting on flimsy plastic picnic-type tables that shook whenever someone else moved or wrote on their scratch paper. The computers were very slow and froze on me twice--luckily only for a couple of seconds at a time. This room was also filthy. The equipment was sticky and dusty, and the smell of the front office carried through. Halfway through my test, the administrator came in and shouted that he had to take away my scratch paper and pencil because they weren't allowed. I was quite confused because he gave them to me in the first place and I didn't remember reading that this was prohibited anywhere in the ISSP candidate handbook or the Kryterion testing rules. I didn't want to risk upsetting him and jeopardizing my test (at this time I felt ZERO trust and I had no idea if he would retaliate) so I just gathered back my focus and resumed my test without my scratch paper. Luckily, I passed my exam; however, upon completion, I was concerned that the test administrator's incompetence would result in my scores not being recorded. Fortunately, ISSP has confirmed that my test score was received; however, these feelings of disgust, confusion, and dread should not be experienced by anyone taking an exam at any proctored test center, ever. Great Place to take tests. Computers were new, room was comfortable. Had free lockers that you could place your things while you test. Above all, service was the best. I was in a jam to get my unofficial scores to a school with a short deadline. Shaminny was very helpful and went out of her way to get my scores to the school on time! Was also very kind in following up with me to make sure that I received a copy as well. Would definitely come back if I needed to take another test. Highly recommend! Also, not far from Queens college so there is good parking just down the street. read more
