This restaurant supplies mainly to the Premier Inn next door, but as pubs go (and hotel pubs at that), this is definitely an example of what good look like.
The interior is quaintly decorated (fake beams and an open fire) and immaculately clean. The large space is cunningly divided up to create little sub-rooms, booths and dining areas; which are perfect if you don't want to feel like you're sitting on top of the next table or require a little bit of privacy (for work or romance.... either would work).
There's a bar area too, so you can drink your aperitif first on the leather sofas and then move on to the main restaurant.
The menu isn't going to win any awards, but that's not to say it's not good - it's just what I would call standard pub grub.
I had the pate & toast to start, which was a decent-enough portion of pate that I had to ask for more toast. The main course was a very good rump steak (tender, rare and minimum sinew), served with chips and salad garnish.
I'd opted for the £20 add-on menu to my hotel stay, so I got a two course evening meal, glass of wine AND full (all you can eat) breakfast all included. Bearing this in mind, this place offers very good value indeed.
The service was provided by a very smiley and helpful waiter who was completely unfazed by all our table's demands, he even helped me out by giving me my Courvoisier coffee to-go! (My hotel bed was calling....).
It's a bit off the beated track to go especially, but if you live in Luton/Dunstable then it's a very decent pub for dinner and definitely won't break the bank. And, if you're staying at the hotel, don't even think of looking anywhere else! read more
