Eclectic and such a cool store! Just happened to be in Waukegan and strolled by this gem of a store. They have jewelery, clothing, wall hangings, incense, crystals, wind chimes, products from India and Asia. It's got a bazaar kind of vibe to it and quite unique vibe almost like a hippie throwback to the 70's. It's friendly and inviting!

Has cheaply made trinkets and other junk. There's also clothing but who knows what kind of quality. Basically it used to be a better mall when it had actual stores people heard of, instead of whatever it is they have. It's more like a Mexican flea market. There's a lot of family owned businesses inside, mostly selling clothes and trinkets. An interesting history about it. The mall opened in 1965 as one of the first in the Chicago area, and at first it was quite successful. It was also the first enclosed mall in Lake County. Soon newer malls opened and it was in trouble. Montgomery Ward was the original anchor. The 1980s was bad as they and other stores left. It's now a Home Depot. There's a lot of empty space. A lot is clustered together at one end. The stores include jewelry, makeup, and cheap stuff. Good that it has found a way to remain open, but it needs lots of help. It's located on Belvidere Road at Lewis. They're open daily from the morning to evening, but many stores have erratic hours so it's like the hours are a suggestion or whatever.

Same ol' hoodies, Sweatshirts, t-shirts, keychains and water bottles. Saw some Navy UA Hats, but were the fitted sizes. Prices were still a little high. Technically this shopping emporium is in suburban Rosemont, and hardcore shoppers from out of town have been known to make some last-minute purchases here before flying out of nearby O'Hare Airport. Most local shoppers drive here, and grouse about the cost of parking to shop here. We arrived via the free shuttle bus that makes a circuit around Rosemont hotspots and connects to the Rosemont CTA Blue Line station. We are not huge shoppers, but we enjoyed checking out a variety of stores and eyeballing the public art installations. There were deals to be had if you wanted them. We also enjoyed a couple of free treats from the wonderful chocolate shops, and there is a decent food court if you need a bite to eat. Amazingly there is also a 7-11 where you can get a beverage or snack, and the prices seem to be the same as those in standard 7-11 stores not embedded in shopping emporiums.

Customer Experience - Ross Waukegan, 1301 N. Lewis Ave To…read moreWhom It May Concern, I am writing to provide feedback regarding my recent visit to your Ross location at 1301 N. Lewis Ave, Waukegan, IL, on Sunday, January 26, 2026, approximately one hour prior to closing. Upon entering the store, I immediately noticed that the entrance area was slippery and unclean, creating a potential safety hazard. I nearly slipped in the doorway, which I found concerning, as most Ross locations I have visited typically have either a security officer or a store associate positioned at the entrance to welcome customers and maintain a safe environment. Once inside, I observed several issues impacting both safety and customer service. The store appeared disorganized, with numerous items out of place or lacking price tags. While I understand that this was during the last hour of sales, I was surprised by the lack of floor support or proactive assistance for customers. As I approached the checkout area, I noticed a significant line forming around the jewelry counter. I requested assistance from two store associates who were present but engaged in a personal conversation. When I asked them to assist a gentleman who was handling a line of more than eight customers, one associate informed me that staff members were on break. As someone with over 28 years of professional experience in customer service, leadership, and retail across multiple industries, I am aware that employee breaks are typically scheduled so as not to impact customer support or store operations. When I asked for her name and position, the associate refused to provide her name, stating only that she was a manager. Her demeanor was dismissive and unprofessional, which negatively impacted my experience and, I would argue, the overall morale and performance of the store. Eventually, another associate, who was on break and wearing her name badge, came to assist at the front, and I appreciated her effort. However, the initial interactions left a strong impression regarding the importance of staff accountability and professionalism. We are currently in a challenging economic environment, and every dollar spent by customers is meaningful. When a store does not value the hard-earned money of its clients or fails to provide the level of service customers expect, it risks losing them. Poor service can create a domino effect, ultimately impacting sales, customer loyalty, and team morale. I respectfully encourage your leadership team to reinforce policies regarding staff engagement, customer service, and floor coverage, particularly during peak or closing hours. Customers notice how staff are treated and how they conduct themselves, and these interactions directly influence repeat business. Providing the level of service one would expect as a customer is not just courteous -- it is essential to maintaining a strong, loyal client base. Thank you for taking the time to review my feedback. I hope it will be received constructively to support positive changes in staff conduct and overall customer experience at this location. Sincerely, Qiana langston

Number one I think the old school aesthetic that really makes it feel Homie and less like a modern factory. Also, all the people who work here are so super nice and there's always a lot of people working here so this looks like the opposite of any other department store Also, during Christmas, they will wrap anything that you buy there for free and you even get choices which is so incredible because no place offers that anymore outside of Neiman Marcus They always have something good to select from and when I first started shopping there in my 20s the younger section was always very much on Trend. They have some really good brands that they care that you can also find at Nordstrom for example, you can find UGGs Nike Adidas coach, great beauty and fragrances, etc. I'm not giving them a perfect five stars because I do wish that part of the store had been renovated over the years or just kind of updated would've been great And also for people who don't know, they also have their own credit card and if you need a department store credit card, they actually charge you 0% Not sure if that's still the case today, but it was back then so what that meant was as long as you paid the minimum they didn't charge you any APR or finance charges.

With Hawthorn 2.0, I'm quite excited for what is to come. It looks like there will be a fresh set of solid anchors like Perry's Steakhouse, AMC, Dave & Busters, Macy's, etc. If this develops similarly to Randhurst, this would be a great spot to gather in Vernon Hills. Even before this is complete however, Hawthorn Mall has retained more quality tenants and has an overall cleaner and more modern look than some of the other indoor malls nearby. The day it did, I was overjoyed. The sales associate, who had to search to find the last one in stock, was helpful and I left the store on cloud nine. That evening, when I unboxed my purse at home, my heart sank. There was a visible piece of damaged leather on the front. I looked up the Rosemont store number online and called it, not realizing it connected to a general customer service line. The representative was kind and reassuring -- they confirmed the purse was still available in other locations and told me I could bring it back the next day for an exchange or to have one ordered from another store. I felt relieved and went to bed thinking it would all be sorted out easily. It was not. When I arrived at the store the next day -- tags still on, purse unused, receipt in hand -- I was met with a very different experience. The manager immediately told me that calling customer service had been 'my first mistake,' that the sales associate should have given me his personal number, and that the overseas customer service line was not equipped to help me. This was my very first purchase at a Gucci store. I had no way of knowing any of that. His tone was condescending and I felt as though I was being accused of something rather than helped. The sales associate who had sold me the purse the night before did not greet me or acknowledge me. He examined the purse and initially acted as though he could not find the damage -- even though it was clearly visible on the front. I had to point it out myself. No apology was offered. The manager continued to tell me I should not have listened to customer service. To make matters worse, it was discovered during the visit that a second identical purse had been sitting in a drawer at the front of the store all along -- meaning a simple exchange had always been possible. The night before, I had been told it was the last one in stock. I ended up in tears. I was embarrassed and heartbroken. This was a $1,200 purse and the most special purchase my bf made for me. I was not asking for a refund or anything beyond what I had paid for. I simply wanted a purse without a defect. I am not someone who will say I will never return -- I love quality and I appreciate the brand. But if Gucci has a customer service line, customers should be able to trust what they are told. And if a customer walks in with a legitimate concern on a first-time purchase, they deserve to be treated with kindness and respect -- not made to feel like a problem. For a luxury brand at this price point, that is the bare minimum.
