July 24, 2025. The golf course is short with narrow fairways. Par is 71, I scored 67. I played from the Blue tees, yardage is 5951 with a 69/114 Rating/Slope. Overall the golf course is soft and damp, a lot of water is applied to the course, your ball will 'plug' in the fairway and around the greens. The greens are extremely slow but they're healthy, unfortunately other golfer do not repair their ball marks or repair their divots. It's a one and done type of golf course. read more

Don't bother. Course was in poor shape, most holes wet and soggy (80 degree day) Very poor maintenance, they took out all the traps to have less to do. Greens were as slow as I have played, looked like fairways. No restaurant anymore, no bar, no restrooms, but dirty porta potty. You can't ever go into the building. But worse of all was the political crap in your face! Signs where you check in promoting crap like "infowars" and Alex Jones, the idiot who claimed the school shootings were faked. Even a conservative Texas jury found he lied. These people support the Trumpers who attempted to overthrow our government! No reason to give them money for a poor course. The best way I can describe this place is as like a family. I'm not afraid to ask questions. The staff is more than generous with its patience, and always willing to help you to have the most pleasant game experience. Case in point: my wedge busted while I was out on the course. Without hesitating, the staff was willing to provide me a spare, no questions asked. There are few businesses out there that treat you as part of the family. I immediately felt unwelcome when I walked through the doors of the clubhouse because my group and I were asked to rush through our game. We were confused by this because the gentleman at the front desk was referring to a group who would start until 3 1/2 hours after our Tee time. The was course was also very poor. In my opinion this is one of the best disc golf courses in my area. The long fairways and short fairways give it a nice mix of holes. They offer golf carts and a round of 18 for only $17.00. Not too shabby. There is a nice selection of Beers and booze as well. If you have any concerns Alex the owner is very knowledgeable and is there to answer all you questions. Beautiful course, horrible customer service. Called in for tee time, they couldn't help because they were busy,I said that was okay. Called back to get on waitlist-- he said ok then was going to hang up without getting name and number, I asked politely if he would like my name and number- he said no, he was going to make a call to not help us? Said my phone reception was bad. Called again to try to find out why he wouldn't help us, was it something I said, can I clear it up? Blamed me for bad phone reception, couldn't hear me and told me he didn't care about people coming to their course, started yelling at me and to spare him? I tried to let him know this is bad customer service, tried to talk this out with him. The employee did not want to help and kept talking over me then hung up. I am still so confused by this interaction. Makes me that someone would think this is okay. The course itself is beautiful, nice golf carts. I don't recommend the food, I have witnessed their cook grabbing a hotdog with her fingernails. read more

Have you played here lately? Such a gorgeous course and you will need a cart to go over the bridge while playing the back nine holes. As a regular golfer myself, I have played all of the WA courses and this one wins the prize. I can't wait to go again! I thought it was strange to have a championship golf course in Port Orchard...but here it is. It is very affordable. 18 holes. Well maintained and peaceful. Great signage. They also have a good driving range. Here's what they say about their 'back nine' (last 9 holes of play): We call it "The Wild Side." All kinds of varmints are back there; clubslingers, hackers, boozers, gamblers, or in other words golfers. :) They are known for their marshals on horseback. It's a fun thing to see. read more

Was treated rudely straight from the start, saying that there were "foreign professionals" coming to play later on in the day and they were very afraid they would catch up to us and get annoyed. Course wasn't in very good shape, first hole green was flooded and almost half the greens had dirt patches everywhere. Not a very good course but good layout for a course. read more

I played in a tournament today. The course is in decent shape. It's tight, short, and has nice variety of hole design. Here is the rub - they are asking $59 summer weekend to play. This is a $40 at best golf course. If I wanted to play a course for that price, I would choose The Home Course, Gold Mountain, or McCormick Woods. read more

This is one of my favorite courses. Although I'm an average golfer and find this course to be very friendly and challenging. The course is usually in excellent condition and surprisingly even in bad weather, is pretty well protected from the winds (maybe I just picked the best days of the year but doubt it). This course has so much potential but it's unclear if the current management has the vision to make that happen. The good: The course has character... big trees.. some shape and undulation in the fairways... not miserably difficult.. a nice golf vibe.. The price is fairly good when you consider cart comes with the green fee, which you will need on the back nine. The bad: This might be the last course in Washington that doesn't have online tee times. You literally have to call. Their website? tells you very little. The practice range has grass tees (good) but they sell one size bucket (small) and charge what everyone else charges for a large ($10). I played there last month and two (maybe even three) greens had large disease spots. Big brown dirt patches. The greens that didn't have problems looked reasonably good. I was told the current owners/management inherited the course and they aren't really into golf. In fact, it sounds like they are more excited about disk golf on the course than golf. Summary: A couple of people I met who do play there regularly love the course BECAUSE it's not run well. They like that they can go out there most days and it's wide open. (trying doing that at any of the other courses around Horseshoe Lake). If you could walk it, and you could play for $35 or less, this is a good course in that price range. $45-$48 w/cart is still good. If you go out there with low expectations, and just want to bang the ball around, this is a good course. read more

The last time I went in here to have dinner I watched the server take food off my boyfriends plate and eat it, then continue to bring it out here. Also I've had friends buy the bartenders shots and they drink back there. I would be careful if you go here to eat, just watch yourself. But I know I will never return! read more

The course is beautiful, challenging and well groomed. I give it that...The down side to this golf course are the golf carts are not very well maintained and crap out on the bigger hills. The course is also not very well marked. It's easy to get lost on the back nine. The score cards were made from typing paper. Very Sub Par (No pun intended) I also was double charged and it took several calls to get the charges reversed. Don't waste your money there are better courses in the area!!!! read more

Played here for the first time on Saturday. It was my first round of the season. (I know, what took me so long?) The course did show some need of maintenance but over all it was entirely playable. It was short. There were no overly long par 5's and plenty of short par 3's. The Par 4's were short and I was hitting short irons to the green routinely. It was not crowded and we played our round with no pressure from behind nor were we held up much by the group in front of us. The price was reasonable ($59 for green fees and a cart) The greens were slow, which I never really got used to, but that's my lack of adapting to the playing conditions. This could be a challenge if you walk the course, the back side has some real distance between holes and the cart paths are pretty steep. I think cart is needed on the back side. There were plenty deer wandering about too. It is nice that there was only one house that I saw bordering the entire course. read more

Played the course on Thursday, July 23, 2015,. On the positive side, the course was in good shape. The greens were well maintained and the fairways clipped appropriately. We showed up early to use the driving range but it unfortunately was closed. On the negative side, the man in the pro shop was as rude and unaccommodating as I have ever met at a golf course. My friends and I have been using a "Golf Card" to visit courses we otherwise wouldn't see. In this case we drove about 50 miles to play this course. We were told in an extremely rude manner by the pro shop employee that their contract "required" them to charge each player an extra $15 for a cart fee whether we used the cart or not. We knew that a cart is mandatory for the back nine, but we assumed we could either walk the front nine once or twice to offset our "Golf Card" fee. In our case with 3 players we had to pay $45 for 2 carts. If we had 4 players, the cost would have been $60 which is more than any other customer would pay. Anyway, those of you who are using a Golf Card, be prepared to pay this extra fee even though it is not printed on your card. 07/25/15 I contacted Tacoma Dealsaver who is in charge of the Golf Card and the contact confirmed that there is nothing in the agreement that requires Horseshoe Lake golf club to demand a $15 fee for an unwanted goifcart. In other words, we were lied to and cheated out of a total of $45. If you are using a golf card, don't be bullied into this "fee" if you don't want to use a cart. You of course will have to play the front 9 twice to get your guaranteed 18 holes. read more

Horseshoe Lake is a terrific place to play golf. The fairways and greens are in great shape, everything is well-maintained, and the scenery is BEAUTIFUL! I like the variety offered, different challenges on each hole. We also had lunch here a couple times. The food was GOOD and reasonable priced. Sunny Saturday, late morning start, obviously no marshal, took us 5.5 hours to play 18 holes. There was a SIX-some playing as a group in front of us and even they had to wait on a group in front of them many times because it appeared to be a grandfather, father and two young sons that were being taught the game. There is something wrong when you have to sit and wait for every shot. The course was in decent shape and perhaps even surprising for August, it was way too damp. I have one approach shot literally STICK into a green. Lots of pick up and clean ball due to mud on the ball in the fairway. Will not be back, very disappointed. read more

Horseshoe Lake is a fun golf course! I live close by and play here frequently. The staff is friendly, the course is well-maintained, the pace of play is pretty fast, and the layout is friendly for higher handicap golfers--not too long and only two bunkers in play. Yes there is some water, but just the right amount of challenge for a fun round. I buy their annual golf card which gives you four free rounds and a reduced rate for the year. It's reasonably priced regardless. read more
