We visited Tower Lanes on Saturday night for bowling, mini golf, and food to celebrate my son's 15th birthday. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing across the board due to a complete lack of oversight and management. During bowling, there was no enforcement of basic lane courtesy or policies. Other bowlers repeatedly ignored turn-taking etiquette, which significantly slowed our play. Because we were practicing proper courtesy while others were not, we lost time -- and since bowling is charged by the hour rather than by the game, we effectively paid for time we couldn't use. No staff intervention, guidance, or monitoring was present. The mini-golf experience was similar. There was no supervision at all. People were going out of turn, grown adults were touching and interfering with the decor, and multiple individuals were in the water features, which felt unsafe and completely unmanaged. It was chaotic and disrespectful, with no staff stepping in to maintain order. To make matters worse, within hours of eating at the on-site restaurant, my 15-year-old son became violently ill with repeated vomiting and diarrhea for over 20 hours straight, resulting in a nearly five-hour visit to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital ER the next night for dehydration and uncontrolled vomiting. I also became ill, though less severely. The common food item we shared was ground beef (patty melt and nachos). Both of us ate the nachos and we were the only two that got sick. When I called the next day to notify the restaurant, the response was immediately defensive, with no concern expressed and no offer of a refund -- I had to ask. I later learned the manager I spoke with oversees both the restaurant and entertainment operations, which unfortunately aligned with our overall experience. I understand that businesses get busy. What's unacceptable is the absence of basic supervision, customer care, and accountability across every part of the visit. This place is the spot! Recently came here for a triple date night with friends and we all had such a good time. They've clearly updated the outside of it but the inside is giving traditional 90s bowling alley vibes (which I love). The building is divided into two main areas - one with a ton of lanes (obviously) and then the other part is a really cool mini golf course with water features and everything. I'd love to come back here with my kids during the rainy months, because they'd be all about it. We got there right before a crazy rush thankfully and were set up with a lane in no time. Prices are kind of all over the place dependent on what day and time you go, but split between the three couples, it was super affordable for a date night activity. They also have a restaurant with traditional American offerings. We tried the nachos (delicious) and also the chicken bacon ranch quesadilla (also really good!) Nothing out of this world but still good and decently priced. Another bonus is that they have a full bar. It's on the smaller side, but a bar all the same... And really cheap! A pitcher of beer was like $13 which really is not bad for these days. Our first time there,and it was GREAT. It is a hidden gem. Melissa that bartender/sever. One of the best Bloody Mary's ever. We got the club sandwich on sourdough. Came here for a fun night of bowling before our dinner reservations and sadly it was a really disappointing experience. We checked the open bowling times online (to make sure we didn't arrive during league times) and found they have open bowling Monday - Friday until 4 pm. We arrived on a Friday at 2:30 and were told the bowling was over bc it was now time for the leagues. Not only did the website share different info but there is an information screen that shares the same (incorrect) info above the cash register. The woman working could not have cared less that they were advertising false/outdated information. No apology, no care or concern... just a blank face. She said "we have new hours for Fall". We then opted to do the mini golf, which was over twice the price, so a bait and switch. Would have been nice if they offered a discount on the golf or honor the price of bowling, but they were just unconcerned in every way. Or even just an acknowledgment of the issue. The mini golf was a major letdown if you're not a child. Every course was basically the same over and over with no whimsy or creativity, just fake green turf and some felt sand traps. Super easy holes, we were done in about 15 min. It was very humid in there (they have a little waterfall at one of the holes) and I had to lug my purse around and our rain jackets from hole to hole. We asked if there were lockers so we could try to enjoy the mini golf and put down our stuff but the woman just said "you can only pay for the lockers on a yearly basis". It was meant to be a fun celebratory time but just ended up being an unenjoyable hassle. We'll go back to Chalet Bowl in Proctor from here on out... it's much more adorable with way friendlier and welcoming staff. read more

Tara Lane is OK. It's in a very sketchy neighborhood, I had to walk past a person arguing with themselves as I walked in the front door. They have some weird set up to wear if you are in LA next to somebody else, the two of you are sharing the same quarter circle of seats. It makes it very awkward. They charge by the hour and it's a pricey hour. Makes you feel like you need to speed bowl in order to get your moneys worth. The lanes are nothing to gloss about, it's a small cut rate bowling alley. For example, I knocked down nine pins, the pin collector picked up the sweep, and then it deposited two more pins onto my lane. They tend to crowd people into lanes, we had groups from 6 to 11, and nobody else on the outskirts. You know you can spread us out a little bit. Especially with that wildly uncomfortable seating arrangement you have. The food in the restaurant was no better. I was excited to find corned beef hash on the menu, only to find it deposited on my plate two flat slices like he came from a giant chunk of processed whatever the hell. Customer service is great, the people are very friendly, it's just a very piss poor product they are delivering. read more

Came here on a Friday night with the work crew for food and some mini golf. Had every game on, great affordable food, fantastic staff, and some rad mini golf. Friday night isn't open bowl until later so it wasn't busy at all with food and playing golf. Give your self a hour to play and a hour to eat. read more

We love to come for family bowling night. I have been coming here since I was in elementary school. I love that I still get a lot of the same joy I did as a kid when I come through the front doors. Mini golf is fun for the kids when they burn out on the lanes. The arcade is a money pit, but they love that too. I miss the pool tables and the 24 hour late night bowling after work with my bartending family. The bar and restaurant close too early in my opinion. We came in around 10:30 and they had already done last call. Overall this is a fun place for family or adult time. My only real complaint is the dirty fish tank smell in the mini golf area. I feel like this place is a hidden gem. Here's why, It's clear as day and obvious this is a bowling alley. What's different? The arcade alone far exceeds majority of the local bowling alley's(round 1 isn't included here). It's not Dorkys but it doesn't disappoint for not being the primary activity. The hidden gem is the huge 18 hole indoor mini golf ! It has all the things you could imagine, a waterfall, cave, fountains, bridges!, it's WILD lol And all lit up and the total ambiance is like you've traveled to a vacation destination. The cost per minute of entertainment(if that's a thing) is incredible value. It's typically $22 for myself and my daughter to play the course. We have so much fun and typically take are time while being mindful of anyone behind us. We order food and drinks from the bar and leave them at the table next to the course. We're always laughing and really spending quality time during this activity. If you haven't been here I'd highly recommend checking it out just for mini golf . The restaurant food is traditional along with pizza. I've had their breakfast, pizza, nachos, fries, mozzarella sticks, and I'd say stand alone the restaurant is solid. I'd say the pizza is quality of a stand alone pizzeria which was actually surprising. I'd just say above average for all the food I've had. Don't go here on weekends, they have a strict 1hour limit and will end your game right in the middle of it. No time to have fun! We had a party of nine , rented 2 lanes and shoes $125 per hour, I don't recommend if you have a large party this 1 hour time limit is maybe good for a party of 3-4 (you could possibly get 2 games in if your fast enough ) We easily spent $350 on food , arcade and bowling. We won't be coming back just because the game ended before we even finished, this really drained the fun so disappointing. read more

Tower lanes is a great place for recreational bowling--it usually has lanes available for open bowling. Tower is popular for families as they also have miniature golf; though the serious bowlers may have to educate adjacent players of bowling etiquette. read more

Just another wonderful classic alley preserved for hopefully the next several months or more (these old alleys have been gradually closing around the country the past 10+ years). The entry and scattered around you'll find a plethora of old bowler portraits and bowling memories spanning several decades; the classic local pro himself included, Mr Earl Anthony. B&W photos always have that nostalgic charm. They also appear to have remodeled recently which I don't ever recall the past few years, so weird. Am I going bonkers? It's a really nice clean facelift, though. Family-friendly, neat little arcade and putt golf section. Sunday bowling is one of the best values in the Puget Sound region. I did some fun chill 3 games with some good lanes, despite next to a rowdy bunch of dudes throwing house balls at 300 mph. Covid has me seeking out new activities to pass the time and one of these is mini golf. We were bored and in Tacoma, trying to find something to do. My partner said "How about mini golf", I said there's no mini golf in Tacoma, but google told me I was wrong. Not sure I've ever driven by here before, but I had no idea that indoor mini golf existed here, from the outside it just appears to be your standard bowling alley. I'm still confused about who can bowl right now and I originally thought the mini golf would be closed because it was indoor, but was surprised to find that it was open. For 8$ each you can be entertained for an hour or so. Staff takes precautions to wipe down every part of your club and ball. We went mid day on a weekday and while there were a few people around, it was not crowded. Of course masks are required. Many people seemed to feel comfortable taking their children. The course is 18 holes and has some water features, nothing too tricky, most holes were Par 2. I liked it because I beat my partner by a significant amount, but that's because he kept going in the "water" and the "sand". It's worth checking out if you are looking for something to do in the area. The restaurant is also open, but the arcade games are closed. read more

This is the first time I've eaten here. We've been here before for mini golf and had a great time. The waitress was very nice and attentive. I was very impressed by her because it seemed like she was the only waitress in the restaurant and she was doing great! The club sandwich was tasty but the fries were by far the best part of the meal. Everyone at our table agreed. My brother in law got the bacon burger with garlic fries, and sadly regretted the garlic fries. The garlic was incredibly over powering in his opinion. So far I've only gone here for mini golf and had so much fun. I got there a bit before the evening crowd so there was no wait to play and not many people were in front of us. We could chill and go at our own pace. I am a lover of mini golf and usually do ok but this place got me. There are no spinning wheels or things but little "sand" traps, odd sloping, and placement of the holes are thing i don't see a lot at other mini golf places. It was a lot of fun to try and super frustrating to kept over shooting everything. Haha i did not win this game but i makes me want to go back for sure! They also have bowling and a mini arcade there but the line was too long for bowling and I'm not much for arcades. 10/10 would recommend read more

My family had a great time except for the food at the restaurant. we ordered a burger dip which looked like it had been sitting at the bottom of a freezer for 20 years. the taste was awful and it looked just as bad. the military took me all around the world and I've eaten some horrible things. It was quite busy for a Sunday afternoon. We intended to bowl but settled for family putt putt. They have small plastic golf clubs for my toddler. Annoyingly he threw his golf ball in the waterfall so we had to cross all the holes to get him a new one at the front. The last hole takes your ball and then you return your club to the dirty bin where you rented them. Tons of parking out front. There is a place to dine in and an arcade room as well. We like going to Tower Lanes because it is near our house and the daytime guy and the daytime bartender lady are super nice. It can get really crowded, however, and there isn't really much you can do about it. They have leagues quite often, so we haven't quite found the perfect time to go. Good kid friendly business, and they open at 10 am! If you have kids you know that waiting until 1pm for things to open on a rainy day can be pretty brutal. Tower lanes is the only bowling alley in Tacoma I've found that opens early. They have special light weight balls for kids as well as the rolling ramp for really little ones. I played with my toddler and 1st grader and we all had a good time. In addition to bowling they have a restaurant attached, I didn't get a chance to try it but it looked like a nice diner style place. They also have an arcade attached. read more

So fun to take kids during Christmas break. Entertained a 6, 9 and 14 year old. Indoor putt putt course was perfect for the winter weather and not too hard to frustrate the little one. Enough fun games in the arcade for at least 30 minutes of entertainment. Prize machine is frustrating to figure out but I thought the kids were lucky to even have it as an option. Perfect early morning place for a good diner breakfast. We tend to go at 7 am on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. The server on shift for that time is a superstar. She remembered us after our first visit and keeps our coffee topped and remembered my wife's coffee preferences. The food is old school diner food. So far, the biscuits and gravy, the chicken fried steak, and the corned beef hash have all been perfect. The food is big, the price is reasonable, and I never leave hungry. We are visibly transgender, so we know that some of the older clientele occasionally stare, but so far everyone has been very nice. The waitstaff never even blinked, or treated us differently. It's actually been great, and we've had no issues. We've been able to use the bathrooms with no issues at all. All in all, this is exactly what I want out of a diner breakfast. Nice casual place to bowl. We got there about noon and there were just a couple of open lanes, so we were able to get one without a wait. The lanes are in good condition. We didn't have any problems finding the bowling ball sizes we each prefer. We ordered a pizza and nachos, which were both generously sized. The shoes were a bit worn, so I'd recommend sizing down if you're usually between sizes. It's a very family-friendly place. read more

Went out with friends for a fun evening. We arrived a little bit before happy hour, bowled a game, and decided to stay for one more. The staff were friendly. There was a small issue with some teen aged boys... the staff held to their rules, and word. They ended up bouncing the guys so that we (somewhat sober grown ups) could have a good time with no trouble, or attempting to break the lanes.
