I've been to this clinic a couple different occasions and I think it may help me again in the future as I sustained a TBI ( Traumatic Brain Injury ) and an addiction to opioids so they offer a dual diagnosis program. The MOST IMPORTANT thing ,however is the amount of Prescription DRUGS they dispense very Carelessly!. they have my young 22 yr old niece over 15 medications. This place was an awful experience for me. I was suicidal with horrible depression and anxiety. They mixed people like me with schizophrenic and dementia patients in the same unit. Oh, and when patients weren't "compliant," meaning they complained about something going on in the unit, staff would threaten to put them in a worse unit. Not because they need more care or something. It was because they didn't want to deal with said patient. We had a lot of group "therapy" and I would say half of it was music "therapy." Several music "therapists" would simply put a speaker on one of the tables and take song requests. I needed to be somewhere quiet, but they would constantly discourage staying in your room so I had to sit through songs blasting and patients singing along. This happened almost everyday I was there. I was a "good" patient so they liked me a little too much. Staff would complain about patients right in front of me and make fun of them. Even though now I know they weren't talking about me, this made me feel so uncomfortable and unsafe there. I'm not saying there weren't good staff who cared. I can't remember their names as I was hospitalized back in January of 2024 and this experience was very traumatic for me, but some actually seemed to care about their patients. However, that does not negate the fact that this experience was terrible. With decent insurance, I still had to pay $2000 for a week in this mess. Oh, and when I was getting out to go to an IOP program because this experience was NOT working for me, the day before I left they presented me with my bill which I CLEARLY couldn't handle at the time. They had contact with my parents and totally could've told them or simply sent me a bill after, but no. Clearly, money is what's most important to them here. If you have a choice of which mental hospital to go to, do NOT go here. read more

Was here as a teen in the early 2000's, and I remember it like I was in hell. The doctor's didn't care, the staff were incompetent, and all they want to do is drug you up so you shut up and sleep. My roommate literally pooped into his hand and used it to please himself, and it took over 10 minutes of me yelling and banging on the door for any of the staff to even show up. It took another 10 minutes for them to remove him from the room, leaving me alone for another 45+ with his fecal matter all across his bed, mere feet from me... And that isn't even in the top 5 worst days I had while there. So, I was shocked to hear that my niece was admitted here recently. I was not shocked that my sister and brother in law are now trying to find a lawyer to handle what had transpired with her being there. If you have a kid that needs help - take them literally anywhere else. Anywhere. I would have been better off self medicating with alcohol as a teenager than being admitted here, and my niece now has horror stories of her own. To anyone who has worked at Horsham Clinic, past or present, I can only hope that what you have done is enacted upon you thricefold. You are inhuman garbage. This place is the WORST! I sent my daughter here, thinking she would be safe, but it was nothing but a nightmare! She got into three fights and even had water poured on her head by another child and not a single staff member stepped in or did anything about it! The staff only seemed to notice her when she had to break her hand just to get someone's attention. Crying or asking for help gets you nowhere here but yelled at. The kids are clearly not monitored the way they should be, and the lack of structure or support is beyond alarming. As a parent, it is heartbreaking to know that instead of healing, my child was left to suffer, ignored, and unsafe in a place that claims to be "treatment." please think twice if you're considering taking your child here. No one deserves to be treated like this, and no parent should have to feel the guilt of trusting a place that doesn't truly care for the kids it's supposed to protect. read more

Dr and social worker English was their second language on the schedule it says you go outside that's a lie I can't say the food is good I needed to go to fat camp when I left there I met some great patients in the techs and most American counselors were there for right reason. Nurse Erica should be fired I literally had a heart attack at the Horsham clinic there's no defibrillator in sight. Ironically they're on illegal 302 and I had to save my own life spent 3 days in the heart failure unit at Abington memorial they tried to get me to sign myself back in. I've reported this place to PA health department, and if more people do so we'll finally see a change in the service for the mentally ill. I left this place after treatment for anxiety & as a healthcare worker, I'm honestly embarrassed for some of the staff here and their behavior seriously. Sadly it's especially the women who incite chaos & aggression from struggling patients, so of course they can be entertained. I've seen that kind of behavior before. There's a few professional people but the place itself is filthy, absolutely deplorable, and the attitude from the volatile staff makes it hard to even notice the decent people because, of course, the energy is transferred. Again, very embarrassing for a place of profession, but of course we can't expect everyone to be raised right. They need better training, not just hiring anyone with a resume. The things I saw and heard, smh. Shoutout to Abu in 2B for being an actual decent human being! Only name worth knowing. As for the dislikable ones, crazy belongs with crazy!!! The quality of care on certain units is horrible not acceptable and simply shameful to the mental health industry. The Horsham Clinic hires staff members with no education or experience in the mental health industry. They don't offer the services that they claim and they lack care and understanding for people in what they call treatment . Research and get all the information you need before going here not everyone is bad but 75% of the people I've had to deal with while my daughter is in their care shouldnt be working in the mental health industry and they work for Horsham clinic and no one wants to take responsibility for the things they have done management supervisors won't call you back if you express concerns the only time you get a response is to make a review! read more

Massive trigger warning for severe mental health symptoms, patient abuse, and a censored slur from a direct quote. I was sent to the Horsham Clinic in 2018 from the Bryn Mawr ER (as the Bryn Mawr psychiatric hospital had no available beds) due to experiencing severe amnesia, paranoia, delusions, hallucinations, and anxiety caused by a combination of depression, external stressors, and bad life choices. The experience served primarily to intensify those feelings. They had TV's playing all day long in the rooms where we were expected to eat, socialize, read, etc. They were only turned off during group therapy sessions. Not sure if the staff there are aware, but TV can be a big trigger to someone who is disoriented from reality. The sensational nature of the news programs in particular reinforced my delusion that the world was ending. The staff could generously be described as cruel. Every time I laughed at something they deemed "offensive," they made a huge to-do about it, to the point I was afraid to ever laugh again. Meanwhile, another patient would constantly rant about the "f***ing f**g*ts ruining this country" and it was treated as endearing. They immediately assumed I was just some quirky, entitled millenial who didn't need any attention or care. When the meds I was forced to take (more on that later) exhausted me to the point I couldn't walk, they would tease me for "crawling like a baby." There was also a time I made a joke about food that fell flat and a staff member responded by force-feeding me yogurt, even though I had already eaten a fair amount of my meal a few minutes before. (I was having trouble eating due to delusions about my food being poisoned, but I was in no danger of starvation.) There was no semblance of informed consent regarding medication. They immediately assumed from how I presented that I was too stupid to figure out what to put in my own body. Even if I were unfit to make decisions due to my condition, they should have accepted input from my outpatient providers, who later told me they were in contact with Horsham but did not have their concerns addressed (namely that I was becoming more psychotic over time and my treatment wasn't being adjusted accordingly). Instead, I barely had any time with my social worker, the psychiatrist chastised me for my behavior (which I couldn't control) rather than asking how I was feeling, and when I would ask the nurses the names and purposes of the pills they gave me, they told me, on multiple occasions, "That's not important." They technically had me sign various forms, but they actively discouraged me from reading them and would not explain them. If I declined a medication, it would quite literally be shoved down my throat. And, of course, the meds had all sorts of side effects like nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and muscle stiffness. This, combined with the previous paragraph, reinforced my delusion that staff wanted me dead. Their regulations were so strict they literally had to clarify in their handbook (which I borrowed from a patient they actually deigned to give it to) that the facility is (supposedly) not a prison. We were locked in tiny portions of the building and were barely allowed to go out. The trash cans were always full and there would always be flies in the eating areas. They kept the halfway decent meal options for those they deemed worthy for reasons I could never figure out; the one time I was one of the chosen few, I was later told it was a mistake. One night I couldn't sleep, so I left my bedroom to go into the lobby. A staff member sat across from me and checked a box marked "uncompliant patient." I had never been told there was a lights-out policy, or any policy really. They had us fill out daily forms that asked us about our emotions, suicidal/homicidal ideations, and pain. I told them multiple times I was in pain (specifically lower back pain due to my new forced sedentary lifestyle) and it was never once addressed. I didn't even know they gave Advil until another patient told me. They seemed to have no trouble giving me Seroquel, though. Funny how that works. I admit there was one incident partway through my stay where I attempted to hurt someone due to believing they wanted to kill me, but no one was actually injured, and there were no further incidents. Other than that, I tried my best to be friendly and helpful, but that was never recognized, even before the incident. All I can say the hospital accomplished was to "stabilize" me in the sense of breaking my spirit until I stopped trying to resist my miserable fate. When I left, I was no longer a danger to myself or others. I guess that's all you can expect a hospital to do nowadays. On the bright side, I'm now a part-time peer specialist in my final year of earning my engineering degree, no thanks to any of these clowns. read more

although i was hospitalized, i had a good experience at the horsham clinic. majority of the nursing staff were amazing and kind - few of them were overwhelmed from being shortstaffed and unnecessarily strict. the psychiatrist that i saw and the social worker i have worked with were empathetic and compassionate. Dr. D and Mary-Ann (social worker) took the time to listen to my story, my concerns, different ways of coping to deal with my situation, as well as help step up after-care. the food was so-so. there were days when food was good, days when it was bad. some of the food service staff at the manor house cafeteria were rude. overall, despite the circumstances, i had a positive experience because of the people i have met. i definitely appreciate the things they do to serve the people and address our mental health issues. read more

Our grandson was in Horsham Clinic for two days. He was tackled and assaulted by another patient. Horsham Clinic would not move this aggressive patient into another building. For our grandson's safety, we were forced to take him home since we did not believe Horsham Clinic could and would protect him. We requested a copy of the incident report which they refused to write while we were present. They did not supply to us an incident report. We called the next day for a copy of the incident report and they said we could not receive it since my grandson was no longer a patient. We requested to review the video of the incident and they refused. They said we have to call back. We filed a Police Report with Horsham PD and we are considering other options. We would never recommend Horsham Clinic to anyone. read more

I was admitted to adult impatient during a crisis relating to my depression, anxiety, and PTSD. They changed my medication and monitored me for my safety. impatient wasn't very effective in treating any of those issues but it helped stabilize me to the point to where I wasn't of harm to myself. I was then admitted to their partial program and I had a an amazing time. we were able to process and disect my trauma and emotions at a deep level. I highly reccomend this program if you're looking for a more intensive treatment. Facilities were overall clean and well managed, and they did a satisfactory job accommodating my vegan diet. My niece just spent to weeks in Horsham Clinic. She is 17 years old and was bullied at school for the full duration of eleven years of schooling. The global lockdown sent her over the edge with forced isolation for a year due to her high school closed for a year. No social activities for teenagers for a year. Her parents thought Horsham Clinic could help their daughter build self worth and confidence with a therapeutic approach to healing. I spoke to my niece today about her experience with the hope of hearing rave reviews. She said she was treated like an inmate in a prison. I participated in the Adult Partial Hospitalization Program for about two weeks after being voluntarily in-patient at a different hospital. The people there are friendly but group therapy and packets of reading material did not help me. Maybe it helps others but it doesn't make sense to me to lump together people with very different conditions: BPD, bipolar, depression, etc. for treatment. I did not give one star but two because Dr. Thomas was the only one I met with that tried to talk to me individually and offer me different ways of thinking about my situation. Otherwise the clinic and the medications prescribed did not seem to help me at all. read more

I have done the PHP program now twice to help cope with anxiety and depression. this program really helps you dive deep into whats causing your panics and recognizing your triggers and addressing them. I leave there feeling like I've gotten closer to my goal everyday and can manage my anxiety and depression on my own a lot better than I could when I started. read more

I had the worst time getting any info on her health and talking to anyone is impossible. Visiting hours are short which is understandable but again, during this time you can't get a doctor to talk to you. I tried calling but no use there. Left several messages on the doctors voicemail. Not one was returned. I felt they were milking the insurance- just a feeling based on our experience. So be careful and do some research. Our young adult son was hospitalized at Horsham Clinic. The staff were very supportive and communicated updates daily when we visited. Both good and bad news was communicated in a professional manner. Dr. Kho worked with our family, reached out to our Doctor and really helped get the medication right. Dr. Kho counseled us on how to be successful in dealing with our son's illness, and how to best support our son. He provided articles on our son's diagnosis, and counseled us on how to improve family relations. It was sage advice in our time of crises. His confidence, advice and interactions with our family was a difference maker in turning things around for our son. We have never had a psychiatrist in a hospital inpatient setting show so much compassion. We had a very positive experience and would strongly recommend them as our number 1 option for mental healthcare. a terrible place to send your child. I was in the adolescent unit for 9 days. The staff was extremely rude, calling kids several names including the b word. The staff also made this experience feel like a punishment instead of a helpful experience. I cried every night because the room was freezing and you can only be provided one blanket. The food is extremely nasty though I wasn't expecting much. I didn't see a doctor my first 4 days. The doctor also promised me discharge 3 days in a row, which extended my stay way to long. They prescribe the kids hardcore drugs that take away their personality and turn them into robots. I left more depressed then i came. I was also hospitalized at kids peace an hour away i recommend there. read more

Terrible follow up Our 15 year old was an inpaitnet there for 2 weeks following a suicide attempt. She also suffers from an eating disorder, and it took me 3 days to get them to feed her well enough for her not to lose weight (i still had to bring in food from home). Some of her clothing was stolen and they did nothing to help get it back. The worst part was that they only gave us a 30 day supply of the medication she was put on upon discharge and recommended a psychiatrist who was out of town for 2 months! We now only have 5 days of meds left and have been unable to get a psychiatric appointment anywhere. When I called Horsham to see if they could help us, the therapist said that since our daughter is no longer under their care, they can't help us, can't write a prescription, nothing. So unless we find a psychiatrist asap, our kid will be going through Lithium withdrawal in 6 days. What a shitty way to treat the patients. read more

This is written by two former patients who both stayed at the adolescent unit in November of 2019. Hopefully this review will tell you a little about what it is like in this place. To start off don't plan on getting admitted to a unit very quickly. First the process of finding you a bed, which the hospital or school will do will probably take a few hours, one patient said 12 hours from the hospital after a suicide attempt and the other from crisis and it took 16 hours. Once you get here at Horsham you will be placed in admissions. Admissions they know you are coming, most likely if you came from a hospital or crisis. Once in admissions first they wand you for metal, then you sit for 1-3 hours, if ur lucky. There are 3 adolescent wards. UNIT 2 is where the two patients had stayed. Unit 2 is the more aggressive unit and the strictest with rules to prevent fights. Typically kids who fight or have aggression issues would be placed in this unit. This unit has 27 people on a good day. Unit 3 seemed to be depression and suicide focused more intensely. In unit 3 rules are very relaxed, with boys and girls being allowed to sit next to each other. Unit 4 was the smallest unit and not many people knew what unit 4s focus was. Once you first get to the unit you undergo a process called body mapping. Only males can do males and females can only body map females. Body Mapping is checking your body for cuts, scars, bruises or anything you have brought in. you do this in your underwear. In unit two there were around 12 rooms with 3 beds in each room. There's not much comfort as the pillows and beds are dense. The mattresses didn't look too clean. There's not much privacy either. Bathrooms are curtains and so is the shower. The day is structured to help you return back to normalcy. At 7-8 am everyone gets up, we get vitals and take our meds.8;30 everyone showers. People are now not allowed to be in the room cause there were several kids who had sex overnight. Then at 9 we get breakfast. DON'T count on the food being great or hot as the eggs seemed to be a just add water. Then after breakfast we go to group. Hey MRS HOLLY YOU ARE THE BOMB IF YOU READ THIS! There are two groups after breakfast and they are usually split into boys and girls. After these groups you get lunch. If you have been at horsham for a longer period of time and passed all your shifts (done what ur supposed to do made your bed, don't talk back) you go to a manner house, a fancy way of saying a cafeteria with hot food and a soda machine. EVERYTHING TAKES FOREVER TO PROCESS HERE. AND EVERYTHING IS SLOW. After lunch you go to the gym, if all your shifts are good. This is where many make their best memories. Shoutout Mrs.Morgan, and Mrs.Pam for playing basketball and kickball with us, PS mrs pam is a sore loser. You get 1 hour at the gym then you go back to the unit. Then starts two more groups. We both agree we don't think the therapy groups are too helpful until they go deep into trauma or loss. Most of the kids here have bad trauma or ptsd. Groups are 1 hour as well. You just have to attend to pass your shift, you don't have to even talk. You can sleep. Then after this its probably around 3;30 you get 1 hour and 30 mins of free time in the common area. During the day YOU CANNOT GO TO YOUR ROOM AND THE DOORS ARE LOCKED. At 5 there is a community meeting, which means everyone talks about how their day is going, what their goal is, and who would you like to call. ONLY 1 PHONE CALL PER DAY AT 7 PM -9PM for 15 MINUTES TO BE COMPLETELY CLEAR. It takes a while for your social worker to approve the person you want to call if it's not your parents. (3 - 4 days) After the community meeting there is dinner, and recreation time too. Then you have freetime/game time during family visits at 7pm . Family visits change so check the schedule to see. There are snacks 2 different times, before lunch and before bed. Everyone in the rooms by 930. Then you get up and do it all over again. My social worker was on his way out of horsham for a private practice. His name was john. I have some words I would love to say to him because for someone who was supposed to advocate for me and make me feel better he told me I was faking my medical issues. That was only until I started dropping weight and proved him wrong. The woman who took over for john was Ashley. She was on my side and was there to help me, explained everything and comforted me when i felt crushed. Ashley if you are reading this you are going to do horsham so well and help so many kids in adolescent 2. Although some kids were body mapped kids would cheek the pills and snort them in their rooms before beds and during bathroom breaks. Also A horsham worker, not going to mention any names for anonymity because the person is a nice person, there was a kid who stole a paper listing the reason everyone was in the unit, the date they came and when they are leaving, along with what their treatment plan is. read more

I was here two separate times for depression/anxiety. Extremely unwelcoming. The staff treats you like an animal and are completely non-sympathetic to your situation. I have suffered from sexual abuse and one of the male counselors basically told me that it was my fault. How is this effective treatment? You are left to sit in a little room with coloring books and one tv from 8am-9pm. They kept me in there for two weeks when My meds were stabilized and I was safe after 5 days. This hospital may say it has good intentions but that definitely does not reflect how the staff/doctors treat you. I would NOT recommend sending younger kids here especially because they will be exposed to really intense situations and will probably make them feel worse. I did not get any recovery out of this place. read more

I went to the kids partial program here, and I really enjoyed it. You know, they have the best lunches on Planet Earth. It's sister suite, Foundations, is nothing like The Horsham Clinic. You got people like me who are usually friendly, mixed in with grouches who don't understand friendship or even a sense of humor. Kids who come here have a hard time making friends. But coming here is a good thing, it gets you back on track. If you come here than this will magically happen: you'll come in grouchy and leave happy. It's how life goes. If you are friendly there, you don't stay there long. If you are crabby and not humorous, then you become an inpatient and stay longer. I hope you never come here, but if you do, you will like it. They have the best teachers ever! Not to mention art is really fun and the gym is huge! read more

Warning to all family's. I was in Horsham clinic several years ago, first of I just went in for an evaluation for what possible services they think could help me. That turned into 72hr stay because they said I said I would hurt myself (never said). Secondly and more disturbingly I was drugged and molested by a staff member. Proof had was they found something called Scapaline in my system. I woke up new something happen, but no memory of what, because this drug wipes your memory clean. Amazingly enough, the video tape that would have proved what happened disappeared so the police had nothing to look at. Keep your loved ones away. I cannot emphasize how much of a contradiction this facility is. I was an inpatient in the adult unit, dealing with a good bit of financial stress and stress from my job. I don't have much good to say about this place- the staff was extremely rude (I asked a nurse if I could bother her for a blanket, to which she responded "No, you can't. Bother somebody else." Knowing they keep the rooms under 60 degrees). Very little of the staff cared for the patients well being, and the doctors are worse- many of the patients there were taking tens and tens of strong medications, resulting in them being worse in there than they were when they were admitted. Too many social workers and not enough doctors, as it took days for a doctor to see me. Worst of all, the clinic was aware of the stress I was under financially and had the audacity to call me the day after I was discharged, informing me that I had a bill of at least $1,000 and it was due NOW. I immediately hung up the phone, as that is the LAST way to approach someone who was just discharged from your facility, and offer little to no assistance with payment plans. This is only a fraction of the overall complaints I have for this place. I hope one day they will contact me back after my numerous attempts to work things out with them. If I could rate this clinic a 0, I would. I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

I went there for. Something it's infested the beds are hard pillows are hard the food is bad the place is bad to send your kids

Horsham Clinic seemed shady from the very beginning but the experience was even worse. I was part of the adolescent partial program for 2 weeks and what was expected to be therapy turned out to be a huge summer camp with no therapy at all. Instead of being in therapy groups talking about what is happening in your life, you were only in a group for like 30 minutes and then you would go to another building and do like arts and crafts and watch a movie or something with no therapy done at all. Not to mention all the stupid rules they had like no communication outside of the program and you will have to get checked every single day for weapons which does not even make sense to me. And to top it all off, the food that was served was raw and not prepared with love and in some cases, there was drama between patients and the staff did nothing about it at all leaving us to solve it by ourselves and my advice to you, if you send your child to the partial program, DO NOT ASK TO HAVE MR.RUSS AS THE GROUP LEADER. I have never seen a staff member who didn't care about the patients as he laughed at everything serious someone said. In my opinion, Horsham Clinic is the worst place to go to and I will never be coming back here anytime soon. read more

Doctor is so rude - too many social workers, it's a mess. I agree with the post from 11/6/15 - it's just milking the insurance - 7 days and still no plan in place. Again, the doctor is so rude. Trying to get answers is impossible & what answers you do get are not correct. Patients have no physical activity at all - they have to stay indoors & either watch TV or color? An idle mind is not a good thing. Stay Away!!!! read more
