We had a mishap when we first entered our room. The sheets were not clean and the bed was just made up without ever cleaning the sheets. We went back to the front desk to notify them and we were quickly moved to a much nicer room. No worries. The parking deck is very close to the entrance of the hotel. The charge to park in the deck is $6/day. There are several amenities and although there are lots of stores/shops nearby, there's a restaurant that has a bar and they offer room service so you can always get a bite to eat at any time. I'd stay here again for sure.

Lady standing around in the red jacket looked like she was in pain. The room...carpet was dirty with a little crumbs. Not the quality I expected for the price. The view of the fountain area was the best part. Breakfast would have been $26 a person. Ridiculous!!! No complimentary coffee downstairs during the day. I spoke to the front desk about it and they didn't really have answers. I've been in business over 30 years. Something must change here. Upgrades need to be made. Also, the ice machine on our floor was empty. Wow!!! Embassy Suites has what it takes for service, quality, and what you get for the money.

The hotel has been my regular go-to whenever I visit Yorktown, going on for about 10 years now. The amenities and the reasonable price make a difference. There's an indoor pool, a hot buffet breakfast included in the price of the room, there's wi-fi, a decent fitness center, and a functioning business center. Under Hilton's reservation system I was able to select my room the day before I arrived and was able to use Hilton's app to download the key to my room a couple of hours before the posted check-in time. The same thing was true when I checked out - tapped the app and my receipt was emailed to me within the hour. Nearby, there's a Burger King, and there's a Subway across the parking lot; there are also moderately priced restaurants and bars and a full-service grocery store and Virginia ABC store within a minute or two walking distance. I usually ride on Amtrak to get to Newport News from D.C., and the recently opened station is gorgeous. Lyft and Uber are well-supported, and I was able to schedule an early Sunday morning Lyft for about $25 for the 20-minute ride from the hotel to Amtrak (it costs less than that if you don't need to schedule in advance). Upon arriving at the hotel, I was recognized as a Diamond-tiered Hilton Honors member and offered snacks based on that status. The front desk staff members have consistently been welcoming, courteous, and helpful. I sampled the breakfast offerings, which included both oatmeal and grits, biscuits and gravy, and waffles, in addition to bagels, muffins, cereals, eggs, sausage, fruit, and yogurt. The breakfast staff members were friendly, kept the place clean and filled with all the fixings. My wife and kids have made the Hampton Inn Newport News-Yorktown our destination of choice; now our kids are bringing their young families there as well. Five stars for a job well done.

Such as good customer service, having a fully stocked bar, receiving a % off breakfast during your stay, shuttle service, hasty room service, & cleanliness! The hotel has moved to be less and less a good value. Third recent time here and the remote AND/or the TV doesn't work. Got new remote and that helps some. Have not been able to use the 'free wifi' last trip or this one. Had to go to desk to get a special code. Also the bar at the hotel has been closed for two years now. You know ... COVID. It used to be a great spot to grab dinner and a beverage if you didn't want to go out. And the food and service was great! Other hotels have their restaurants and bars open again but not here. YOU Know COVID. Really a shame. Right across the highway is a full up Courtyard by Marriott. Maybe it's time to seek a new hotel. We'll see.

Let me save you the mistake I made. Every single night…read morearound 8:30 PM, a vehicle with earth shaking bass music parks near this property and rattles the entire building. I'm talking walls vibrating, eardrums taking damage, zero ability to think, work, or exist like a functioning human being. If you have small children trying to sleep, a work call to take, or literally any reason to need a quiet hotel room after 8:30 PM, walk away now. But here's what pushed this from "unfortunate" to completely unacceptable. I spoke with the front desk staff, a girl named Tori, who informed me without a shred of apology or urgency that this happens every single night. Her exact solution? Accept it. That's it. No offer to move my room. No call to management. No acknowledgment that this is even a problem. Just a shrug and "yeah, this just happens." That is not hospitality. That is a staff that has completely checked out and a management team that has allowed a nightly disturbance to become normalized instead of addressed. Hampton Inn markets itself as a professional, reliable stay. What they are actually delivering at this location is a front desk that will tell you a shaking hotel room is just your problem to deal with. Hilton should be embarrassed this property carries their name. Stay somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Or simply pick a different hotel. A lot of stuff could have been better and there shouldn't be any excuses of why it's not at its best state. Literally the only good thing is the staff was nice.

When I have tried to extend at other Hilton locations, I was not allowed to stay in the room unless it was available. So apparently this rule is not applied equally. They did get us a room on my requested floor after speaking with the manager and we had to wait for it to be cleaned. That night we went to the bar for a beverage. The bartender was most unpleasant with a frown on her face the whole time. My old-fashioned was subpar. The next morning when we got up and was going to fix coffee in the room. We discovered there was only tea and hot chocolate for the Keurig maker in the room. One of the lightbulbs was out in the shower. The ironing board was old would fall down if someone was not holding it. When we checked in, we requested a late checkout time yet at 11 o'clock on the day of checkout we had a housekeeping person knock on the door and we had to tell them we had a late checkout.

The room amenities were on par for me and my wife. Four locations in our room to charge electronics. 1 on either side of the bed. One under the wall mirror and one to the left of the TV . Additional wall outlets abound. 41 inch screen TV, we didn't use, and perhaps becoming obsolete these days now that customers like ourselves just whip out our phones to watch our programming. Excellent WiFi with password for security. Thermostat to control AC. Large clean bathroom with Dove soap pumps on the wall above the tub(we did use). Dove pump soaps smelled very good especially the body wash . Shower water temperature adjustably good Only water pressure very weak. Large deep closet with Ironing board and iron. Microwave and refrigerator. Large Parking Lot (@no additional charge) The attendant gave us room #116 on the same floor as the Pool and Gym location. What you're definitely NOT GOING TO APPRECIATE IS THE HALLWAY NOISE WHICH ALSO INCLUDES THE ELEVATORso avoid this room(s) if you can? I gave this room only 4 stars for its location echo hallway noise which really annoyed me the most. I used to love biscuits and gravy, but lately it seems the gravy has lost it's luster. Not a problem at Residence Inn in Newport News. Although it is only prepared on Sunday, it is worth waiting for. The biscuits are thick, just slightly crispy on the outside and light on the inside. The GRAVY however is pure heaven. Thick and flavorful. Full of sausage bits. A delight to the taste buds. Waffle house, Cracker Barrel, Biscuit world, Dennys, Hardee's got nothing on this place. Really the best Biscuits and gravy ever.

Upon arrival, we were told that the mobile key feature wasn't working and hadn't been for over a month. We then go to our room and put our stuff down because we needed to run some quick errands before stores closed. Upon arriving back at the hotel I began to do my normal process of checking the bed etc. I found that there was what appeared to be either blood or someone had something cheesy in the inside comforter layer. Which meant either you didn't wash it or you need to just throw it away. Either way disgusting! We decided we would just sleep on top and call the front desk in the morning because we were too tired from traveling and running errands. The next morning we awake and decide we'll take my showers etc before calling down so we could be ready to meet up with family. To our surprise, there was hair in the tub and then when my husband cut the shower on, it began to back up like it was flooding. After taking a half shower, he called down and asked to change rooms. He was rudely told we couldn't because they were sold out and that it would have to wait. He then expressed that we were at the hotel for several days. Then the lady said she would send maintenance but we would have to wait. He told her that was unacceptable and when he asked for a manager, she then said it would be 20 mins. Maintenance showed up with a serious mean mug on his face like he was beyond irritated that he had to come and do some work in our room. After evaluating the situation, he stated he needed to grab additional tools and he came back and fixed the issue. Overall, I give this hotel a 1 out of 10 and only because zero isn't an option. Definitely won't ever stay at that location again.
