Came here for our last meal in Rome and wanted a quintessential dish, Pesto pasta. What arrived was a creamy gooey mess, what I would expect to get in a pedestrian "Italian" restaurant like Olive Garden. Such a disappointment. For a legit pesto, go across the square to restaurant Di Rienzo. However a bigger disappointment was the chicken Cesar salad. Chicken was at least a day old, dry, tough, crusty and crunchy. Salad was swimming in completely flavorless Caesar dressing. Hard to make a proper Caesar dressing with no flavor, but they managed. Yuck. "We use a crappy dressing, but if we use a ton of it maybe they won't notice?" This was another dish that would feel at home in an Olive Garden. On the bright side, our waiter was courteous and the location is unparalleled. Unfortunately, as is the standard in Europe, the waiters never check on you after delivering your food so we were left languishing. Leaving Rome disappointed in our last meal :( read more

Wow. Where to start? I honestly wish I could write a zero star review. Please, anyone thinking of eating here please find another option. I was trying to get a glass of wine and the waiter was extremely rude because I didn't want to order dinner. He made a scene in front of several customers. I then asked to speak to the manager/owner. He was also rude and dismissed my complaints. There are several better options in the area. I would not waste your time with such horrible service. A friend of ours went to college in Italy and told us that one of the two best meals she ever had was from from Hostaria Pantheon. She was pretty spot on. The food and service were fantastic! It happened to be rather hot out so we sat indoors and people watched, which I highly recommend. read more

Great view and pizza. Please be aware that you pay a premium for seeing the Pantheon as you eat. Do NOT order anything else. The pasta sauces all taste like they are from a bad supermarket ready mix. Unbelievably rude service. Four of us sat down, ordered 4 alcoholic drinks and 2 appetizers. The waiter kept pressuring us to order more food and we declined. They refused to let us order. Absolutely Abysmal! Avoid this place. Maybe the worst place I've ever been to. Asked to sit outside for a coffee and though this pitiful excuse for a restaurant was nearly empty they said I had to eat if I sat outside. So I at at a rickity old table inside and and ordered a cappuccino. I got some a glass with almost no coffee and all foam and forced it down. The toilets were disgusting, and they charged me 5 euro for the awful coffee, more than I've ever paid for a coffee in Italy...when I asked the waiter about the price he tried to tell me that was average. I've been traveling Italy for 2 weeks now and haven't seen anything close even at fancy restaurants. Tl;dr Avoid this tourist trap at all costs! Overpriced, bad quality, bad service. read more

A simply wonderful slice of Italian cuisine and culture on offer in this small restaurant in the beautiful public piazza, standing in the shadow of the truly magnificent pantheon, an ancient temple towering proud in this pretty square. The waiter was attentive and helpfully spoke English and even enjoyed a few jokes with us. Lovely Italian beer, handmade pizzas and wonderful desserts greet you here. As you listen to street performers and saviour the mouthwatering Italian flavours, the pantheon is a truly romantic guardian to keep you company. This place is a must visit. If anything, 5 stars for the view! Dinner near the Pantheon is an unparalleled experience. Formaggi Board: Very generous portion of a nice selection of cheeses. Lemon Veal: 3 cuts, flavorful and not overcooked Cacio E Pepe: On this trip we became quite the connoisseur of this dish, this one missed the mark. Wine selection: Decent and decently priced for the location. Aperol Spritz: standard Overall, the view is breathtaking. The food is good but priced for the view, so don't expect an inexpensive dinner. read more

Been in Rome for 5 days and stumbled upon this place at the exit of the Pantheon. My God!!! This was great. I have the Spinach Ravioli with 4 cheeses and my wife had the Pesto Linguini. Best food so far of our room experience. If you are in Rome you'll want to visit the Pantheon so you naught as well eat eat upon your exit or entrance. You'll won't regret it. In addition the Chianti Classico Reserva Wine was an added most and one of the least expensive on the menu. read more

This was my husband's and my last night out in Rome, and thankfully so. Had this been earlier on in the trip, it likely would have ruined much of our experience and we probably would have stuck to buying groceries and cooking in the apartment we stayed in. We were ushered in off the street by what seemed to be a manager of sorts. Prices were on the higher side, comparatively to others nearby, so we thought service/quality would be higher. Not so. Our server literally took our order, delivered food, and cleared plates. Never checked in to see how we were doing, never asked if we wanted more drinks, nothing. Bare minimum. He then had the audacity to deliver the check, tell us that the "15% service charge" was not included, and ask if we wanted to add it onto our credit card. Funny thing-I know that all service charges are included in the prices, and even if they weren't, there would be a line on the credit card slip to add my desired gratuity. I responded politely and accordingly, to which he became abrasive and downright rude, saying that all the other restaurants in the plaza have cover charges to sit down, let alone order (I laughed at first, as he continued in his fit.) I also mentioned that he never once informed the other diners who had sat at the tables next to us of this "service charge" when he brought them their bills. Clearly, he knows how things work in America, and thought he'd take advantage of us. At that point, his commentary, as well as the fact that he thinks I'm that stupid, was absolutely the most offensive experience I'd ever had. Take your money to the restaurants that are just beyond the plaza (2 streets over.) There are plenty of them, and I'm willing to bet you'll have a better experience. read more

Food was so so. I ordered the cacio e pepe (a little too al dente for my liking) and my friend had the gnocchi (too much cheese and not enough flavor). The bread however was tasty but a bit expensive (6 euro). The view was great of course and we appreciated how the tables were set up so that you're not right on top of your neighbor but rather positioned to see the Pantheon and piazza. There are certainly better restaurants out there but we just wanted a view for tonight and this is where we landed. read more

I hate to give bad reviews, I really do, but I feel other tourists must know as beautiful the setting ( next to the Pantheon by night ) the pressure to buy everything on the menu and service was the worst and most rude I have ever experienced. There were two servers outside that night. The older gentleman server was the one we started with.. extremely rude, condescending, and kept demanding before we even sat down that "we must eat full dinner , we MUST EAT or no service ." Uh yea that's why we are here ....we immediately were turned off and thought about leaving but the view and "Rome" was just too beautiful to say no too. He started our service, no smiling and STILL insisting that we eat , before he even gave us the menus " no drinks without dinner" was his mantra . I finally told him yes we understand, and we want dinner .... suddenly he left us and a young man came over to take our order. He was polite and seemed very annoyed himself and very embarrassed by the other older server. The food cane out-it was good we ate it and paid ,but the rude rude rude behavior and heavy pressure from the older server was enough to never return to this eatery next time we are in Rome. We just didn't feel welcomed at all, he just wanted the full dinner sale or get out before you sit !!! So sad in such a beautiful place. Awful!!! read more
