My boyfriend and I stopped in after seeing their truffle menu. We told them we only had 30 minutes to eat before we had to catch a train and they were so helpful! I usually hate being the person asking if it's possible to rush but the moment I mentioned it to the hostess, she pulled our waiter aside and we were in and out in 20 minutes! The food was absolutely amazing. My boyfriend got the truffle risotto and I got the truffle pasta and it was the highlight of my day. Overall we enjoyed our meal here. Hours were not posted, so we had to wait until they opened at 6:00 pm. The food was very good, but some of the menu descriptions were a bit off. Some of this was lost in translation, but other things were missing. For example, I ordered the steak tartare and it was supposed to come with some type of arugula salad. All I got was the beef and some herbs and seasonings to mix in. The waiter had to explain that their translation of scaloppine to scallops was wrong. In general think they are missing the mark just a little by trying to cater to Americans too much. I would eat here again, but I felt it would be good to know some of these things ahead of time. read more

I have to start with the hostess. She had such great energy and was so helpful. It was like running into a long time friend in Rome. The restaurant itself I give 4 stars because the food was a hit and miss. The pizza and truffle risotto was delicious. The pasta and Scaloppine was a little disappointing. It took the staff forever to bring our drinks because they were more focused on socializing so we had to ask three times. Not the end of the world. It's Rome. The food took a long time coming out despite the restaurant not being that crowded which was a little annoying. Not sure I would recommend or return to this spot mostly due to the fact that the staff asked to be tipped in cash. Tips are typically calculated in the cost and to request a tip just doesn't come off well in my eyes. Tip on cash we did to be considerate but it was definitely off putting. I'd rather give a tip because I wanted to. Not because I felt pressured to. This brought my review down to 3 stars. read more

Didn't get in our first choice, so landed here as the group was feeling famished. Seemed like this place is part of the hotel but it's not owned by them as I was told. The servers were courteous and food came out fast. Food prices also seemed reasonable, but do note that some of the servings are on the small side (big plate though). €2 per person charge on bread - but plenty of it and you'll need fillers if your order(s) didn't make you full. Still or hot water cost money unless you ask for tap. A better alternative is to get their house wine. read more

Like many others, we stumbled upon this unassuming little place after our first option couldn't seat us. As others have mentioned, there was someone standing outside trying to drum up business, which was initially a bit offputting because we are seasoned travelers and wary of being scammed. But a quick scan of Yelp revealed it to be legit (thanks for your reviews, everyone!) so we took our chances and ventured inside. Very glad we did, as this ended up becoming our favorite restaurant in Rome. Although the ambience is nothing special, it's quaint and homey, and feels genuinely authentic - which it is, as we were the only tourists there that night. The other diners were Italian families enjoying a night out. There was a nonna celebrating a birthday with her family at one table nearby, and another large, boisterous group - complete with a few bambini - at another. We felt like we had crashed an Italian party, which was a fun novelty. But what really made Rossini stand out for us were the food and service. Our waiter seemed to telepathically sense what we wanted, and had the chef -a maestro from Napoli - create custom, out-of-this world dishes that suited our palates perfectly. Everything was delicious, the wine list was good, and the prices were more than fair. We returned two nights later, and it was every bit as good as the first time. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for an authentic, unpretentious experience. Looking forward to visiting it again the next time we're in Rome! read more

Was our last nite in Rome and we were actually walking to a different restaurant when we noticed this young woman trying to get us to eat at this place. We passed her by and told her we were heading somewhere else. When we got to the other restaurant, they said they couldn't accommodate our family of 6. We went back to this place and she was absolutely so kind and welcoming and said come in like we were old friends. The place was packed but she brought us to a private bar room and told us to wait there til our table was ready. She gave us all a complimentary glass of Prosecco and had a great conversation. Her make is Katarina from Ukraine and she was lovely. She finally came back and said would we like to eat in this room private bar and she set it up really nice for us. The food was absolutely incredible and we left her a tip when we left. Hopefully she got it cuz she had already left for the night. Please make sure you order the fettuccine carbonara, the filet with truffles, the meatballs, the prosciutto and Buffalo mozzarella and four cheese pizza. read more

We stumbled upon Ristorante Rossini on our last night in Rome when the first restaurant couldn't accept walk-in diners. The host standing outside the establishment was doing his best to get us through the doors as at 6pm the place was empty. Not surprising since it was Friday and dinner in Italy usually begins much later. That said, we were hungry and the menu had many but not too many options. So we agreed to be that night's guinea pigs. Our waiter greeted us immediately. He offered still water and wine, which of course we accepted. Mmmm more Chianti Classico. The kiddo asked for a lemon soda which had quickly become her favorite drink in Italy. He also suggested some fresh baked focaccia. When served it tickled our senses with its warmth and the heavenly aroma of rosemary. It was thin and lovely dipped in a touch of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The kiddo ordered her millionth pizza margherita of the week. It arrived with the first course and she was very happy with her choice. It was not too thin and not too thick. The lack of cheese bubbles made her smile. For his first course, Romeo chose a pasta (carbonara) that was sized just larger than a typical primi course. I could have eaten that as my main and felt comfortable. He'd have needed a little bit more. He clearly liked the taste of his dish as he didn't say a word and possibly didn't take a breath until he'd finish every bit of it. For our main courses, I had selected the white fish special of the night served with pasta, small clams and tomatoes in a swan shaped foil steaming packet. The fish was fall off the head, bones and tail tender and absolutely delicious. It took a bit of work to remove the skin and bones to the bowl provided. But once done, the fish with pasta was a tasty and nicely sized meal. Romeo had selected the pork chop in wine sauce with a side of grilled veggies. It was cooked slightly above the requested medium temperature. But it was still moist and tasty (yes, I had a bite!). The wine sauce was sweet but not too much. It paired well with the pork chop, which when served alone can often be flavorless. Midway through our main dishes, the host was able to entice another somewhat hesitant couple through the front doors. We smiled widely and they happily sat down. Since it was our last night, we ordered dessert. We hadn't had a single cannolo during our trip. So we ordered two, as well as a dish of chocolate gelato...just in case. The cannoli were beautifully presented splashed with chocolate sauce on their plates. They were a traditional size, which would have been enough to share or to eat by yourself without feeling wholly guilty. They were also frozen. We're still not sure if that was purposeful as the dessert was labeled as a 'concept.' I've never had a frozen cannolo before and was hesitant. But it was amazing albeit a bit difficult to eat with a fork. The kiddo, even though she originally wanted the cannolo, took one look at the gelato dish and decided she wanted that. She loved it! I did manage to get a taste and realized it was a truffle chocolate flavor rather than a traditional milk chocolate. Yum! Afterward, we finished the Aperol spritz drinks that we'd ordered with dessert and chatted for a bit. All in all, this was a wonderful meal. Some of the best finds in Italy were places we stumbled upon like Ristorante Rossini. The location is set on a side street so it takes a little work to find. But take the time to explore the city and then stumble upon this restaurant. Don't be deceived if the dining area is empty. We were extremely pleased with our evening. read more

We dined at Rossini on the last night of our getaway to Rome. We had intended going to a different restaurant, but they told us they were too busy so we came here instead. There wasn't a single table sat when we walked in which we didn't think was a very good sign, and the restaurant was part of a hotel. Not a classy hotel, but just a hotel. The decor seemed dated except for the black and white stills on the wall. Very cool. As we looked over the menu, I noticed that several more parties came in. All locals. Interesting. The later the night went, the more people arrived. All locals. I would never have guessed a hotel restaurant being a hotspot for locals. I ordered the 4 cheese gnocchi and the wife ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce. We both really liked our meals. We also both really liked our wine. We didn't touch the bread basket and unlike others, we didn't get charged for it so maybe they changed their policy on that. We chose to top of dinner with Tiramisu even though I don't really like this dessert. However, we figured we are in Italy, we should probably try it once. The tiramisu here was really good! I liked it so much I recommended it to some women who were outside looking at the menu when we were walking out. The restaurant is nothing special from appearance and doesn't have a grand entrance, but the food is great and so is the service. Stopped in here for a quick meal of pasta with porcini mushrooms. The waitstaff were friendly and the dining room was charming. The dining room is small but bright and with historic photographs on the wall. It was comfortable and cozy. Started off with a breadbasket which ended up setting me back three euros. This was pretty pricey. The bread basket contained some very tasty packages of breadsticks though. The pasta was good. They brought out a container of Parmesan so I could add the cheese liberally. Good things: we showed up without a reservation and the staff was very accommodating to let us have dinner here. The waiters were charming. The white table cloths were clean and dressy. The fried baby octopus was delicious as an appetizer. Nice wines by the glass were available at fairly reasonable prices. My wife liked her carpaccio beef with arugula. Not so good: Cannelloni was not made with fresh pasta and seemed like it came from a frozen dinner previously prepared. When our waiter came he gave us their specials and we quickly changed our orders to what he had told us. I chose the fresh pasta with lobster and my boyfriend chose the seafood pasta that had sea bass. When our orders arrived the seafood pasta came in foil shaped like a swan. The sea bass still had the head on it! Our waiter offered to de-bone it and was absolutely incredible. The fish was so well cooked that the bone just came right off! It came with clams, squid, and scallops. The fresh pasta with lobster was the BEST and would highly recommend this dish over any other. read more

This restaurant actually has a rooftop terrace called Tancredi with the same menu, just a different - but beautiful - location. In the heat of August this was a great choice on a walk-by selection. The terrace is beautiful and we really enjoyed the breeze when it came. The food was well liked and included: Mixed grilled fish - tuna (thinly sliced and can only be cooked well), shrimp, whitefish and squid. All very well prepared with delicious flavoring. Spaghetti and meatballs - good pasta and sauce, but the meat in the meatballs seemed unbalanced and flavorless. 2 different risottos - hard for me to opine as all of the Italy risottos haven't lived up to what I like in the US so obviously, we have moved in a different direction. Orange chicken squares - very asian style dish, was good but not standout. Tiramisu and the pear/cheese cake were delicious. The Predella DCOG Chianti was wonderful and a reasonable E24. read more

This was my favourite meal in Rome We went to the upstairs rooftop garden for our evening meal around 8ish and we were greeted as we got out of the lift by a very friendly waiter . We were seating in a lovely spacious area with wonderful live music (not too loud) and very friendly staff Me and my wife shared the meat and cheese platter which was as expected meat and cheese Our main course was the highlight of the night absolutely fantastic I had steak cut up with tomatoes and Parmesan cheese and it was cooked perfectly also with potato fries which were the best potato fries I have ever had My wife on the other hand had conchiglioni salmon which she said was the best fish pasta she has ever had The staff were absolutely fantastic and really friendly and helpful Would highly recommend to anyone who wanted a quiet meal with fantastic food and superb service read more
