Our appetizer was great (the name was funny so not sure) it was Argentinean cheese on the grill with baguette and tomato. I've never tasted any cheese like this, my fiancé thought it was chicken. I have to thank a friend who's from here, where we wanted to get a quick meal for 3 with some drinks to start the night. And boy it was worth it! The spot is full of friendly locals and loud music, and the atmosphere was intense and hyped us up for the night. It definitely doesn't feel like a tourist spot which is great enjoying the CDMX atmosphere. Decor was trendy with a lot of artistic trinkets, paintings, and bottles all mixed in a strangely interesting vibe that somehow works. We arrived at around 8:30pm on Thursday and it was packed full with live music. Still, we managed to get a seat for 3 right away which was great. My friend recommended the Spanish tapas with the carne option, and so we split the dish between 3 and it was enough. Basically, it's a big meat and cheese platter that comes with salsa and tortillas. For the food, the hot sausages and the paellas were really good and fresh tasting, while the drinks were well mixed and strong. The peppers were legit and the salsa had a good amount of spice in it. On a pedestrian street, which is nice and lively, but without the cars. When you arrive they take your temperature and sanitize your hands, then you order via QR code. The menu is all in Spanish, so we had to tease out the meaning:) We ordered sangria and a delicious mixed drink made with tropical juices called the Chewbacca. Both were delicious. We ordered two dishes: one that was similar to enchiladas and smothered in amazing dark mole and the other that was like a plump quesadilla stuffed with chicken and covered with a slightly spicy, wonderful sauce. The plates were not huge, so you might want to order an appetizer or another dish to share. 4 drinks, 2 plates came to $35. They have amazing items like charcuterie and paella which I wish I would've tried but I wasn't that hungry yet. Yesterday was my first day visiting La Bota. Given that this is my first time visiting Mexico City I had to make sure I checked this place out before leaving.I found out about it from a youtube video. I could go on all day about the food and drinks. (The seafood here is amazing by the way) you definitely have try the Chewbacca I really loved that drink. The live music was amazing, I'm a sucker for jazz. I think my favorite thing about this joint is the aesthetic. It's very bohemian and lively. Reminds me of some of the bars I've been to back home. One of our favorite spots while in Mexico City. Like many of the other reviews noted, this place is full of locals, but everyone was very friendly, and the atmosphere is great. The menu has many different options from tortas, pizza, tapas and several other dishes. You should be able to find something you like. English menus are available if you need it. Grab a beer and some croquettes to get your meal started. I had a steak and chorizo torta smothered in a verde sauce. It was awesome! Total bill came out to $330 pesos (about $17 USD) for the wife and I, including a couple beers. We were stuffed and actually brought some leftovers back to the hotel. read more

Service was great and fast, and while they let us butcher Spanish when we wanted to, two servers spoke English and made everything work. Ordered a variety of items, but the best thing we got was the TTT (I think there is a translation where they call it a BBB) - a giant chunk of pork belly fried, with bbq sauce on the side. Does not sound very Mexican, but it was friggin delicious. Everything else we got was good too. Not very spicy, and certainly not a traditional menu, but fast and fun and a good late night break from the standards you get throughout town. Adorable little restaurant in the heart of Mexico City. Found it easily by looking at apple maps. The place was packed but cozy. Immediately ordered a mojito. It was one of the best I had on my week trip in Mexico. Ordered a beer after and drank it with a straw. The food came fast. We ordered pizza and some popular dish within a bowl. The pizza was tremendous. I love hot sauce and ordered some. Our waitress was very kind and brought out several sauces. The dish that was in the bowl had an amazing sauce. Came here with my Mom while on vacay. Place is divey but cool. Their food is a mix of Spanish tapas, their own twist on hoagie sandwiches and some Mexican appetizers & dishes. We ordered the meat and cheese board which was ok... the Gaucha salad which was good and the tapenade tapas. All were decent but what really impressed me was the bartender was able to make The Berta cocktail which we discovered in Taxco. So nice and refreshing! Ambiance is eclectic but fun. read more

Cute little place near Regina neighborhood. They have a mix of food items that are all reasonably priced. We got the roast beef torta which was simplistic (tomato, bread, beef and mayo) but sooooo good. They served the sandwich with a spicy oil that i could not get enough of. Seems to be a local spot for folks and was hopping and bopping on a Sunday. The bar kitty is sweet. The only odd thing was that someone goes around peddling books for whom I assume is the owner... Bit off putting, but they left us alone because our Spanish is atrocious. But other than that it was a cool joint. Would definitely return. read more

This is a restaurant that you may notice in some top ten lists for places to eat in the Centro histórico (Saveur among them). I happened to be staying nearby and thought I would check it out. It did not disappoint. We had a pitcher of horchata... Best I've ever had. Tried one of the tortas for my kiddos. It was good. Onion soup was good. Had a calzón myself. An appetizer of sautéd mushrooms was yummy. The pasta was excelente. Above all, it's a nice atmosphere with a very friendly waiting staff. I'm totally ignorant about alcohol since I don't imbibe, but it looks like a place that probably has pretty good drinks available...so that is based only on aesthetics. Just got back from two weeks in Mexico City and this was one of our favorite spots in MCDF, certainly in El Centro Histórico. The food was excellent, we tried both actual meals and some of their tapas - everything we had was delicious. The servers we had were all good. This isn't the US, the expectation is you'll flag a waiter down if you need something, they're running around getting drinks and taking orders, so they're attentive but just don't expect to have someone checking on you every few minutes. Say excuse me to someone running by and you'll get helped. All the servers we asked had great suggestions for drinks and food. This isn't a tourist bar, they have English menus and staff who are bilingual but this is very much a local place. You'll see a mix of young to not so young professionals, a variety of the hip who call El Centro home or at least a hangout spot. The decor gives you an idea of the place, eclectic. This isn't where you come to do shots and act the fool, think good drinks and food with friends and lots of interesting conversations - I overheard people discussing feudalism. I was also one of the many people there just having a good meal and drinks with my family and felt totally fine there with a kid. It's really hard to know where to start with this place. It's so excellent on so many levels it makes it genuinely hard to review. All I can say is this is the kind of place Anthony Bordain visits, i know he hasn't here yet, but he should. We started off with Tapas and beer. The tapas themselves are superior quality to those in average places in Spain. We ordered the 7 item La Bota and various other dishes to compliment including the gran bolognese. This is a fun pub. Interesting decor and feels like a mix between a dive bar with a patio. They have TVs so can watch a soccer game while though enjoy dribks/beer. Can't say the food was amazing, but the low prices made it good enough. The easy going crowd was a mix between late 20s and early 40s.
