Piping hot Sabrett's dogs. I love that Hot Dog Louie's is open all year. Including the fact there's a nice picnic table. I pretended it was summer time, during this lovely 69 degree November day:)!! Louie told me he's open from Mon. to Saturday 11 - 3:30 pm. Louie's chili had a nice , little kick to it. I got my chili, on the side. (In the pictured coffee cup). I wish Louie had homemade hot onions. But, glad he "doctors' up" (quote) , his Sabrett cooked onions a bit:) Ended up with the $6.00 special. 2 dogs, including toppings, chips/pretzels, & a soda/bottled water. Good deal !! read more

This is my second review but it deserves it. Firstly I want to say that you have to check his Facebook and Instagram because he does not control or condone Yelp. I checked his hours recently and they said he was closed but when I called him he was open. So make sure you check out hot dog Louie on Facebook or Instagram. That will give you the correct info on his hours. Yelp trapped him into a paid period and he said that one day he would have all these five star reviews and the next yelp had taken them down. When he contacted yelp they said oh well the people weren't verified so their review doesn't count and they delete it. Well let me tell you this hot dog truck is amazing, very much open and is still very reasonable. He doesn't hold out on toppings and then charge your an arm and a leg, like a truck I know sitting on Talmadge in Edison. So if you are in the area of Route 1 and 35 in the colonia area stop in and check him out. Dogs and toppings are amazing. read more

I've been to many trucks that serve dirty water Sabretts. For the most part, they all serve a similar product. A boiled Sabrett hot dog. There are several ways I evaluate these trucks. First off, is the dog a natural casing one? Skinless dogs lack the snap of a natural casing frank. I avoid those trucks serving skinless dogs. The next thing I look for is if the dogs are served hot and fresh. Too many vendors serve lukewarm dogs that lose flavor and snap from sitting in the water too long. Then there is size. Many, if not most serve tiny dogs that are 11 or 12 to a pound and charge what others do that serve a bigger dog. Lastly I look for a decent homemade chili. I usually have my dogs with mustard only, but I occasionally enjoy a chili dog. Going by these parameters, Hot Dog Louie's gets a perfect score. Natural casing dogs served piping hot. Fresh and not sitting in the water too long. Bigger than what other trucks in the area are serving, yet the price is the same so you get a better value. I love the mustard served there (Admiration brand deli mustard), and the chili is fantastic. Meaty, slightly spicy with a nice subtle tomatoey flavor. Lou the owner is a great guy who has been at his spot for a long time. He cares about quality and his customers. There is no better place to get a dirty water Sabrett. Highly recommended. read more

This is by far the best hotdog spot I have been to. BBQ dogs for me all the way! BBQ, Chili, Raw onions & smoked bacon! Yummy, Yummy, Yummy!! They also have other specialty dogs but I can't find a way to stray from my BBQ. On the other hand, don't eat all my BBQ. Lol. Would post a pic but I start scarfing them down as soon as I get them. Hot Dog Louie's is a frequent stop for me. He sells Sabrett dogs. He sells the larger ones unlike a lot of other vendors selling small dogs for the same price. If you want a really GOOD Hot Dog, this is the place to go. They have several "Specialty" Dogs that are "OFF THE CHART".
