I ordered beef tamales and received chicken tamales saltier than anything I've ever tasted as if they were old and they were covering the taste. I was going to take the entire experience as a loss, until big chick smiled asked me how was my food & I stated you sold me chicken tamales instead of beef and she simply walked away! Listed as Latin American..... Delta style Tamales are NOT Latin American food. The time I tried there was more masa than meat, the masa was VERY wet, and quite a mess of juice and grease in the bottom of the container. Don't think I'll go back. read more

This place lives up to its name!!!! I ALWAYS stop here when I am in the delta. These tamales are local to this area of the south and the tastes and textures a like no other. If you're interested look up the history of how tamales found a place in southern cuisine. These tamales arena beautiful merger of African American and Latin ingenuity. Back to tamale heaven. Not much to see on the outside but don't worry. The magic happens on the inside. Drive up or walk up take your pick but be patient. They are served piping hot and fresh. I usually buy a half dozen to eat right then and there and then buy 4 to 5 frozen dozen to take back to the chi. They reheat well. They are about 11 bucks a dozen but worth it. The only reason I took off a star was because they used to give you directions and enough seasoning for each dozen of frozen tamales that you bought. I didn't get that this time but not a huge deal I still love them. Talk about Heaven. Ha! My taste buds experienced heaven alright. Mississippi Delta Hot Tamales have always been a treat for me since I was a very young girl. I can remember when my mother brought them home. The paper bag filled with a dozen hot tamales for us to share. The meter smell of them would get my taste buds jumping I absolutely loved them. Even though Mississippi Delta Hot Tamales were a favorite delicacy, if you know anything about making tamales, you know, making them isn't just a notion. Tamalars take skill and lots of time. They aren't something you just decide to make at home for the first time. Mississippi Delta Hot Tamales are made with corn meal, unlike the original Mexican tamale made with masa, and the MS Delta Tamale is steamed in a sauce and should be fairly wet/moist. I've had my share of both and I love them both for different reasons. I stopped in for some Harmon's Tamales (how I've always known them) recently and I was blown away by how amazing they tasted. The tamales were packed in a to-go carton with a little bit of moist juice from the tamales. I unrolled my first tamale right there in the parking lot... A bit of steam streamed from the corn husk. I took my first succulent bite, I closed my eyes and savored the taste of the meat and the corn meal. I felt home. I felt my 12 year old self and every care I had in the world was suddenly non existent because those tamales made everything right in the world. I literally had a food-gasm right there in their parking lot! If you are wondering if you should stop at this little food truck/cart in Greenville, MS, stop wondering and go right on in. This is definitely hot tamale heaven for the tamale lovers. I highly recommend this restaurant for people who like hot tamales. It looks like it is in a small trailer. Now, it does have a drive thru. You drive up and place your order at the intercom then, drive up about another 15 feet to a window on the left. You can not see thru this window because it looks like paper is covering it so you can't see inside. But this is where you pick up your hot tamales. The guy running this place is excellent in customer service. He also gave me some crackers without me even asking for them. Menu items ordered: 6 hot tamales for about $6. Although these are not the best I have ever eaten, they are the best I have eaten so far in the Delta since I have moved back. They were delicious and I would definitely come back here avian. One important notice: keep your hot tamales flat on the plate like he gives you. In other words, do not tip over your plate even slightly as there might be hot tamale juice that spills out and it will be hot. Also, do not eat these hot tamales while driving down the road. I pulled over and ate them on the tail gate of my pickup truck in the parking lot. This restaurant does have a parking lot where you can pull into and have your lunch or dinner. read more

Some of the best tamales in Greenville! The regular and the fried tamales are both delicious!! I didn't care for the hot wings... they weren't back, but had a weird flavor. While traveling through the delta... We stopped for some tamales... But fell in love with the wings and tamale pie! The wings were fried to a perfect crisp and drenched in a yummy tangy honeyed sweet BBQ... the tamale pie was layered like shepherd's pie but with lots more flavor. This is one of those food finds that are exciting ...very unassuming on the outset yet will forever etch into your memory an experience that you will never forget... it was by the beautiful but mysterious laws of the universe that drew us to the brown trailer with no indoor seating in the sweltering August Mississippi heat ... that alone can make it a hellish experience ... but mixed with the heavenly food .... it was a very delicious purgatory. read more

Since I moved back, I've heard a lot of good things about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try. I have to say, it was just an OK experience. When I think of a tamale restaurant I assume I have a choice in tamales. There was no choice here... All tamales were ground beef. I found them to just be okay...they weren't great but they weren't bad either. I utilized the drive thru and the lady taking my order and serving me was extremely nice and hospitable. I may or may not return ... simply because I've had better tamales. If they expanded their menu to include a choice such as shredded beef green chili tamales or shredded beef red chili tamales I think it would take my rating and experience from a 3-star to a five-star... but there is nothing too special about ground beef. Again, not great not bad just very basic run-of-the-mill. read more
