Thankful for Uber for being the alternative to taxis. One of the reasons why I love Uber is the timeliness of arrival and the friendliness of the driver. Even at 3:00am in the morning, there was an uber driver willing and able to pick me up and drive me to the BTR airport for a 5:30am flight out to ATL. The first instance of using uber in Baton Rouge was upon arrival at the airport on a random Wednesday June 1, 2016. Some cities do not allow airport pickups from the terminal / baggage claim itself, but apparently Baton Rouge allows this and uber drivers are there not advertising themselves that they're there. I found that out when my driver pointed that out to me. I assumed the no airport pick up rule and walked about 1/2 mile away from the airport terminal to schedule an Uber pick up. The ease of scheduling the pick up was flawless and you just need to point the pin to your location, put your destination in, and request the ride. Can't be any simpler than that! The ride from the airport for the first Uber ride to my destination, a car rental place on Airline Highway, Baton Rouge, was fast and nice. The driver didn't have to make any detours. The driver was interesting and fun. He was funny and it seemed like he loved life while driving full time for uber at the present time. Uber can be found anywhere they drive, although you may want to check their website before flying to that destination, since I had come across previous places in Canada where they're not there and I didn't know. Everything is through the Uber app, which can be found online through your device's online App Store. You plug your credit card in the settings and you'll get immediately charged for the ride. It's pretty simple. I usually use uber when car rental prices are usually freaking higher than what I normally pay, so booking an off airport rental car agency was the next best thing then using uber to facilitate the move from airport to destination. Not sure what rates that they use, but there's an ride estimator / approximate tool on the uber app that will let you know how much you ride will cost - relatively speaking. Compared to a taxi, this is probably one of the best modes of transportations you can go with that's fast and convenient, without breaking the bank. While car rentals and the public transit can be usually better in their own respects, Uber and other ride sharing services are great for those who are on the go but don't want to spend extra for traditional taxi services. The other Uber ride used in my time here in Baton Rouge is that of the 3am Uber ride to the airport from my hotel. So so glad that Uber is there 24 hours a day. The lady who picked me up was nice and had to ask for my name first before getting in. It's a safety precaution that's always needed just in case something we're to go down at 3am in the morning. The second ride was pleasant and positive. Enjoyed this ride and thankful for those uber drivers who are available at those hours. For what it's worth, uber is a great service to the community at large. While traditional taxi companies are complaining, it's a good way for private individuals to make extra money by doing ride share programs with their own vehicles. Often times, taxi cabs are kind of nasty, but riding with uber drivers are always nice. Drivers that I've encountered are friendly and have a nice outlook on life. 5 stars for sure. When I realized I left my purse in her Uber I did everything I could to get it back before I got on that bus, but I couldn't get in touch with her. She basically stole my purse. I offered to send her money to ship it to me, but she refused. At one point she told me she was going to throw my purse away! Customer Service was absolutely no help at all. I had all of my important documents in my wallet.. Drivers license, Social Security card, and credit cards, Everything I needed. I also had other stuff in my purse. I really wanted to Get back. I was very disappointed in Uber and especially in the Uber driver.

The price was reasonable and it offered quick and walk able access to the Mississippi River, Raising Cane's Arena, 3rd street, and the Capitol buildings. I arrived a little early to check in, but the staff was amazing with keeping me informed on the status of my room and was even able to get me checked in early. My room was warm and welcoming with a choice of a firm or soft pillow, tons of television channels, and such a comfy bed. The room was small, but decorated well with accents of grey and purple that just made me feel at home. I passed out on the comfy bed and then when out for a walk. The staff was able to recommend tons of restaurants with happy hour times, so I really got to enjoy and take in all of the downtown area. In the morning, I did notice that the shower was in need of a good cleaning and the breakfast failed to have cinnamon rolls. Other than that I had a great stay and would definitely come back here again!

Let me park my own car, access it when I want to, and not pay a fortune (or anything beyond my nightly price for the hotel). Further, if you're going to have valet, make sure your employees are on the ball. It took 16 minutes on average to get my car; that's unacceptable. Other than that, the hotel was fine. The rooms are nice, though a bit small, and seem recently renovated. The location is excellent in that's it near the neat downtown area and some good restaurants but also awful in that the noise is very present. I had a room facing the main street, which was likely part of the problem, but I would expect the walls to be a bit thicker than being able to hear every conversation (quiet or loud) that passed or hung out in front of the hotel. I'm probably being unfair at 2 stars, but that parking issue - no sir.

After a few minutes of going over the amenities we were escorted to our site and the gentleman stayed with us until we had parked and aligned with all the utilities and he verified that all our slide outs were clear of any of the trees. All the sites are pull-through sites which really makes it easy to get an early start the following morning. The site was very level and there was plenty of room to park our chase vehicle. The utilities and hookups are all well maintained and we had no issues. There are lots of things to do inside the campground although we chose just to get some steps in and visit the campground store before going to dinner in town and relax for the next leg of our trip. We were given some complimentary trinkets and souvenirs at the store of the surrounding area which was very nice of the staff and unexpected. This is definitely a place we would return to when traveling through the area everything here made for a great stay and we couldn't have asked for a better staff to interact with, this is definitely one of the top KOA's we've stayed at...

We had reservations and had been pre- assigned to a 2nd floor room, but the desk clerk (Dale) kindly offered one on the 1st floor in the back. We really appreciated this even though there's an elevator near the lobby. There are cardkey-operated entrances on either side of the motel. The room was spacious, with king bed, 2 nightstands, desk and chair, and dresser with fridge, microwave, and a couple of drawers. There was no freezer compartment in the fridge. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. But those 4 small bed pillows were a bit odd. The flat panel TV had plenty of channels. Wifi was ok, but unsecured. The room door was self-closing, but very loud. The bathroom was large and had a stall shower. Unfortunately, only one of the plastic shower doors moved. The toiletry dispensers were no longer being filled, so bar soap was supplied. There was no shampoo nor was there a hair dryer. But there was an iron and ironing board (which few people use, I think). There was a substantial amount of mold in the shower. Juices and coffee are available 24/7 in the breakfast area, a nice treat. Breakfast was so-so. Plenty of carbs, little protein. A person who seemed in the know commented that today's hot food was sausage and eggs, while yesterday's was eggs and sausage. Both were in the form of round patties. There was a waffle maker. If you keep your expectations low, this BW isn't a bad choice for the price.

My husband got a first floor room (sometimes he checks his brain out for recess) and it was wasn't noisy, it was actually very quiet! The room was VERY CLEAN and spacious for the two of us. There were plenty of outlets to plug in too. There is a little kitchen but we didn't use it, we did use the bbq outside though. The room looked exactly as advertised. My only complaint would be the very loud music coming from the meeting room next door to ours at 7 am on a Sunday morning... I thought it would stop but it kept going and going. Not even my earplugs could make it go away. It wasn't a deal breaker though! Just don't get room 106 if you need extreme quiet on a Sunday morning. We will ABSOLUTELY be staying here next time we are in Louisiana!!! This will be our place!!!! As far as restaurants close by... there are a lot just down the road a little!!!
