Love how they've remodeled the airport. The only complaint, as others have pointed out, is size,…read morewhich isn't necessarily something that's anyone's fault. I will say that this location tends to be consistently clean, and the new design has accommodated more comfortable seating/lounging arrangements that have truly elevated the space! Flying in from California is such a hassle. I've flown in primarily into New Orleans for the past decade because that's how inconvenient/expensive it is to fly into Lafayette. Sometimes what could fly me into New Orleans for $150 roundtrip may cost me $700 ONE WAY into Lafayette. It just doesn't make sense, and on top of that, the rental cars are more expensive as well due to a smaller fleet and less competition, as there are only 3 companies in their terminal, I believe. I do wish for expansion, as I will likely be flying back into Acadiana Parish the rest of my life to visit family and my hometown. It would make a huge difference in the quality of my travels into Louisiana, as my commute would go from 2 hours to 15 minutes if they could figure something out! The location tends to be clean, but I will say they need to get the rental car center together. There shouldn't be crazy waits on cars, especially with such a small fleet. The airport does what it needs to do otherwise, and I haven't had major issues outside of price and inconvenient rental car hiccups.

The agent then put on fresh gloves before apologizing for having to open it up. I joked with her that I needed a pack of rubber gloves so I wouldn't have to use so much alcohol spray when traveling. She then offered me a few pairs of gloves if I wanted some. My flight was delayed, so I moseyed on down to the cafe to get a snack for the road. Lafayette airport has the best airport food ever. The server brought my food, & it was the wrong order. She went back to the kitchen to ask the manager to personally make it for me. Then she said I could keep the previous order and she also extended me 20% off of my bill. I tipped her handsomely, including some two dollar bills, which she got a huge kick out of. Stopped in their pristine bathrooms and thankedthe attendant for always keeping them so clean. We chuckled about how filthy airport bathrooms are, and she said when she travels, she has to resist the urge to clean up other airport bathrooms. I've said it before, but Lafayette airport is the best! Especially for international travel.

Excellent experience today at this airport. My buddy and I flew from Austin, TX to Hammond…read moreNorthshore Regional (North of New Orleans, LA ). Air Traffic Controllers were great at this airport. The Main Terminal Administrator, Elyria was so nice! She invited us in her office and gave us a whole history of the airport and the city of Hammond. She recommended a great restaurant to us and provided us with first class transportation service to and from different parts of the airport and into the town of Hammond. We were introduced to the CEO of Top Gun Aviation on-site. I'll do another Review for Top Gun Aviation. Fuel prices were good here as well. Overall, great experience. We'll be back!

The airport two lighted runways: "13/31 is 6,502 by 100 feet (1,982 x 30 m) with an asphalt/concrete surface; 18/36 is 5,001 by 150 feet (1,524 x 46 m) with a concrete surface" and can handle large aircraft. It is the largest general aviation airport on the northern shore of Lake Pontchartrain. From my few visits here, there appear to be approximately one hundred based aircraft here and there seems to be available space for a lot more. Although I have been here many times for work, I have never flown from this airport. However, the facilities are nice and the employees with whom I have had contact were all very professional and courteous. It's also a great venue for the annual airshow.

The airport has one lighted (medium intensity) asphalt runway: "18/36 is 5001 x 100 feet (1524 x 30 m) and can handle general aircraft and small (corporate style) jets. I had the recent opportunity to be invited by a pilot friend to a "fly-in" and was able to check out the facility and meet several general aviation pilots from the region. As my review is based on my one and only visit, I was not familiar with the airport layout. As per their website, this airport "complex" is home to "33 private hangar facilities, 33 private hangar facilities, the National Weather Service Station, St. Tammany Parish Mosquito Abatement District #2 flying operations, and Skydive N'Awlins. The Airport also supports two aviation organizations: the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Civil Air Patrol." The facilities are nice and the employees with whom I have had contact courteously greeted me upon walking through the front door. Not only did my son and I get to meet several pilots, we were also able to walk out to the "apron" and check out the general aviation planes that flew in for the day. We also got to check out the continuous parachute jumpers landing at the airport. This is a really cool facility and I plan on a return tip in the very near future.
