Unfortunately we were unable to take our vacation in Zermatt this year (2020) due to the COVID19 outbreak. In fact, we weren't able to even get to Switzerland due to travel restrictions. Of course, none of this is the fault of the hotel or my party. Bad things happen, it is how you deal with them that counts.
I booked through their site directly - cut out the middle man and increase their margin - so I thought I was doing them a little favor. We knew at least 1 week ahead of time that we couldn't make it into Zermatt and let them know. Unfortunately, they refused to give us any refund or credit - I guess they are following their rules. At the same time, we are out thousands of $$$ because we tried to help them out a bit.
My advice is to NOT book directly with this hotel, instead, work with a booking company that will protect you in case of odd circumstances. I learned that the Ambiance is going to return any favors...
Finally, I will note that all (4) of the other hotels and condos (in other parts of Switzerland) gave us our money back without question or hesitation. read more
