The hotel scores with a sensational location: The Vatican and Castel Sant Angelo can be reached by foot within 10 minutes. But unfortunately, the hotel has the best times behind it and is visibly worn down.
The rooms are very dark, you have to use the electric light all day. When your room goes out to the street, you will have traffic noise all night as the window does not block it (even when closed). In the bathroom, the floor is cracked and the batht is also damaged by (I think) falling shower heads because its holder is loose.
Unfortunately, the well-advertised rooftop terrace is a scam: It is a lonely place, where also waste bags and all kind of machines are stored. Yes, you can see the dome of St. Peter and the statue on top of Castel Sant Angelo somewhere behind the other buildings, but nothing more.
The personnel is very friendly, but sadly we encountered no one who was interested in providing service. On top of that, our room safe was opened by the chambermaid over the day and left open. Thank god, nothing was stolen, but this is a big no go towards the guests.
Breakfeast buffet was okay, although some of the food did look like it was already several days old.
To sum it up: 2/5 would only recommend for the short distance to the most important sights in Rome. But for nothing else. read more
