It's across from Cartier and there is a Van Cleef across the street. There is some seriously high-end shopping available on the Maximilianstraße where this hotel is located. As always, the doormen and valets were awesome and the gal who checked us in was a sweetheart. That is where the good stops. The room had an odd layout and not all the light switches worked. There were no luggage racks for our suitcases and we had to ask several times. There were no sheets on the bed, only one cover and the beds were REALLY hard and uncomfortable. The turndown service consisted of water by the bedside but they didn't give us any so we had to call down and ask for it. They also didn't put a Do Not Disturb sign in our door so we were woken by staff early in the AM our first day in Munich. Not good. The in-room entertainment didn't work, the tv remote barely worked and the english option didn't work at all so it was useless. It also seemed really outdated. We had dinner in the bar/restaurant downstairs which is not cheap and the waitress was a smartass with me when I asked a question about one of the appetizers and wanted her to explain to me exactly what was in it. She acted like I was an idiot and I had to correct her. She apologized and was very polite afterwards but it really irritates me when staff at a fancy hotel act snobbish. The included breakfast was decent - with a lot of options - so I was happy with that and the concierge desk was very friendly and helpful as well. The room was not comfortable, low on amenities, needed some updates, and I wasn't impressed. This was one of my least favorite hotels. As far as location to restaurants, shops, and some sights, it's great. But for the price. It wasn't worth it.

I got a free breakfast voucher via email and a welcome water which u must collect at the bar (but that's no big deal). I also made a request that I was arriving very late and could I have a room away from the lift lobby and sure thing - they satisfied my request. Location: I had two very heavy cases so needed to take a taxi from the Hauptbahnhof (Main Station). It's about a 10min drive.(sub €20) But my return journey was via S-Bahn. About 10 min train journey from Rosenheimerplatz (that's about 7 minutes walk from the hotel). For guests arriving late in the dark via this route one you turn right past the VW showroom - the hotel is 100m further on into this kinda darkish road - the hotel would benefit from an illuminated sign on the side of the hotel so u can find it easier for the first time - like a shining beacon of welcome. (S-Bahn is the German local train service within large cities and between towns in an area. The central portion (Stammstrecker) of it in Munich is underground too and all the lines link the Hauptbahnhof and key central stops including Marienplatz and the hotel's station - so it's just part of the integrated transport system). Check-In: Very helpful and cheerful receptionist even at midnight. Explained the free wi-fi codes are on the bottom of my bill. Also gave me the voucher for the free bottle of water. Three lifts to the floors - which despite being an eight floor hotel - there was virtually no waiting even at busy breakfast times - and the hotel seemed full (from the breakfast crowd). Bar / oneLounge: I ventured down to collect my free water and was taken back by the vast and intimate space they had created with soft lighting and it was packed out. My 6 hour train journey meant all I needed was sleep and couldn't join the party vibe. The bottle was a nice 0.75l still water. If you wanted more a similar bottle of Gerolsteiner costs €4. Tip: go to ALDI discount supermarket at Rosenheimplatz station and you probably come away with 8 liters! But note, there is a quiet lounge too directly near reception so if you need quiet time - this has big leather sofas and collaborative working space table and plenty of other stuff going on but Friday to Sunday I didn't see it being used. There is also outside seating and tables accessible through the bar. Room: This is not a luxury hotel but then again it's definately not what most of us imagine of a "motel" based on US movies perhaps. Rooms simple: No big wardrobe, a rail by the mirror and a cleverly designed hidden handing space by the window behind the bed/lamp facade. Ingenious for me. There is shelving space which makes up for no desk or vanity unit. There is a little round table and a stool which accompany the very comfortable leather chair. The bed was super comfortable and the sheets are fine. I mean just great (clean and white). Ok but I hear they are Egyptian Cotton if you are into details. There are downlighters in the ceiling but two spots above the pillow area. I found these a bit tricky as i directly the beam away from my face but then had trouble locating the switch in the dark as I felt the rotating mechanism covered it. (Leave that to the designers amongst you to check it out). Nice full length window that opened too. Thick curtains that blacked out the room. TV Enough local channels and dw.de which is an excellent rolling news channel in English. There are radio channels too. I didn't spend much time checking out it's features although I couldn't set up the alarm but I was dead tired :-(There is a warming artificial fire displayed on it when you arrive. Considering it was 22c and sunny - it felt a bit comical and made my friends laugh on Instagram when I posted my feet being roasted by the fire. Bathroom: Very well designed compact bathroom with walk-in shower, storage shelf and two big mirrors, oh and in my opinion very fluffy towels. (C Toiletries: This was a big surprise, organic linden flower face & handwash and 100% mint organic hair & body wash. I didn't want to leave the shower. Quiet: for a hotel of 8 stories I hardly saw anyone in the lifts - or even waited long for one Breakfast. Continental breakfast so meats, cheese, breads. juice, coffee, tea, croissants, cereals, fruit ... basically plenty. And even if you didn't book it it advance you can pay on the day but you need to do this at reception - so could get stuck behind someone checking in. Staff were even wandering around offering expresso. nice touch! I took mine to the bar area and worked well as the overflow place- the space age silver chair really made it! So much of this hotel is 5 stars including the variety, amenities, luxury, and staff. This historic hotel is filled with a variety of eateries, entertainment including a movie theater, and the Blue Spa which includes massage rooms, saunas, steam rooms, plunge bath, swimming pool, juice bar and a gym. The staff was courteous and pleasant, always greeting us with a smile. In the morning, the breakfast served on the 6th floor, which is not complimentary, was overflowing with a surplus of options that puts most American breakfasts to shame. We worked out at the gym or jogged through English Garden. We showered back at the hotel then while at breakfast, housekeeping tidied up our room and made the bed. In the evening when we returned the bathrooms were freshened up again, the beds were turned down, and the curtains were drawn shut. Another example of excellent customer service, The Garden was closing but the staff went above and beyond to coordinate with the Trader Vic staff to use service elevators in the kitchen to get someone in our group with a wheelchair down to the restaurant that was still open. It was a really amazing experience. I felt rich for a week! Everyday we were there we found something new, this hotel is huge! The fifth star - I made the review 4 stars because I have some honest feedback to consider, July 2025... the construction is terrible, really confusing with the elevator situation. We were not the only guest having trouble with this. Also we wish the menus had more vegan options across the board. The city of Munich is very 21st century and vegan friendly, the Bayerischer isn't quite there yet and needs to explore some new plant-based options! Maybe dark chocolates at turndown and vegan macarons at arrival??? It's the little things that would make a huge difference. We did appreciate the oat and soy drink options at breakfast but we did have to send back the coffee twice because the coffee was mixed with oat milk and topped with dairy milk foam.

Outstanding service and the front desk team are superstars - helping us with transportation & reservations and responding quickly to requests. Rooms are relatively small (by US standards ) but nicely appointed and very comfortable. The universal power adapter is a nice thoughtful touch. I enjoyed my week long stay there.

When I had trouble connecting to the wireless, someone was dispatched to upstairs with a CAT5 cable quicker than I could restart my MacBook! That said, I was checked in quickly and efficiently, handed a toothbrush and toothpaste by the sympathetic Front Desk and also told something about my key card -- to which I smiled and nodded (lost in translation). Upon getting to my room, I soon realized they had been telling me that my key card actually turns on the lights in my room. After several (OK, 10 minutes), of trying to figure out how, I located the thing-a-mig-jiggy by the door (technical term) and inserted my card: voila! Lights! The room itself is sparse, but has all your needs: nice bed, view of beautiful Munich, TV, cupboards, Free Internet (albeit very temperamental) and best of all: lavender sheet spray! I never figured out how to use the rain shower head, but did just fine with the other one that's in there. Hopefully future guests will have better luck. But best of all? The service AND the bar. After having many an expertly mixed cocktail in the hotel bar with my colleagues, I toddled myself over to the Front Desk in a borrowed sweater to inquire if my bag arrived. The (again) sympathetic chap said it hadn't arrived, but if I wanted, he would bring it up to me as soon as it did no matter what time. I eagerly nodded, fearing the worst: I would be arriving to my morning's meetings in sandals. But sure enough, at 4am I opened my door to see my waiting bag. Let's just say it was like Christmas had come early! After going that extra mile, the staff, convenient and beautiful location and clean interior would definitely have me excited to stay at Louis Hotel again. Love all of the figure based art the most. The rooms are very clean and orderly although they feel like a completely different hotel. I didn't try either one so I can't say for certain what's there. -there's a breakfast buffet that has everything you need to have a hearty tasty breakfast. -scrambled and boiled eggs -meatballs add sliced meats -sliced cheeses -fruits and nuts -juices and coffee/tea machine PRICE: -paid about 350 euros for 3 nights for a queen size room SWAG/AMENITIES: -lobby seating -lobby bar -elevator -buffet style breakfast STAFF & EXPERIENCE: The staff is very kind. Super helpful and courteous. Experience overall is really good. I recommend it for a place that's easy to get to, centrally located, and have some cool art when you walk in. A couple things I did not enjoy was that there is a lack of room service, no help with the bags getting to the room, a queen size bed is not two twin beds pushed together. This is my first time in Germany so maybe that's standard because I had two separate rooms and they were both that way. And it would've been different if it were two twin beds with one mattress topper or at least even a queen size blanket but when there are two twin size blankets folded separately on two twin size mattresses next to each other. I know that this is not going to be an enjoyable night of sleep with me and my partner. Maybe the separateness is normal in Germany, but I'm not accustomed to it. Three stars because the place was clean and nice, but it didn't have anything that was extra. Was an average hotel and they missed a few marks with the room being very plain considering that's being an art hotel. All of the art was in the lobby, but most people don't spend most of their time in the lobby and if you stay in the building we stayed in you don't even have to pass through the lobby so I saw the lobby, maybe two or three times.

Great way to start the day. Our favorite part was the cookies and pretzels they left throughout the day. Every time we came back to the hotel we grabbed a few cookies. Delicious!
