Great rate for a big clean room. Huge bathroom. Nice Nespresso machina. The pool is quite lovely. Of course this changes in a minute when the crappy guests show up. I took advantage of both Hammam and sauna. REALLY enjoyed until previously mentioned crap guests joined. Oh well. Always the case. No fault of hotel. What is their fault is that hallways outside room stink, like hot rotten eggs. So gross. Probably old carpets. My only real complaint!

The staff is great, the breakfast is great.... at one time, someone spent a lot of money making this place quite nice. Unfortunately, the shine has worn off quite a bit. The walls in the hallways and elevators are chipped and the paint is coming off. Due to circumstance, I spent the night in this hotel twice in one week (non-consecutive nights). The first time my room was still in quite good condition. The second night, it seemed a bit like it was the room that got rented when nothing else was left. The carpet kind of looked a bit like a CSI crew had sprayed bleach on it, the bathroom sink was missing the stopper portion and yet, the water ran out very slowly. I will admit though that it was very quiet in spite of being above a very busy street and next door to some college aged girls. WiFi works well and is quite fast (better than many hotels), the bar when staffed has a small selection of local beer, coffee (not my favorite but it seems that the Belgians don't really drink coffee). If it sounds like I'm being mean, I'm really not trying to be... this place is far from being a bad place to stay. It'd just be great if someone would, lovingly, take care of it again. I managed to get free parking on the street just outside the hotel, and if you are travelling by train the location is just opposite the train station. The rooms were interesting, my room could easily sleep 4 people. The only point of feedback would be if the shower had a screen to stop the water spraying on the floor and a hook to hang the shower head. The bathroom was a good size and the beds while a little small were comfortable. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay in Antwerp I would strongly recommend this place.

For instance, they offer breakfast, and technically you don't have to pay for the breakfast, rather you pay to enter the room, and a whopping 9.50 at that (though it is cheaper than some places, though still not worth it if all you happen to have is cornflakes and coffee - might as well get something from Starbucks). As for the laundry service, well, the card in the room suggests you speak to reception, however when you speak to reception you discover that they don't actually have an laundry services - gee, that was a waste of a trip downstairs. At you can buy some diamonds from reception (if the fifty other diamond stores in a short walk from the hotel don't satisfy your needs).

When I checked in, the girl gave me a brief, relevant overview (this is the shopping street, it's closed tomorrow so if you want to shop go today. Here's the outdoor market, it's only today and ends at 4. And this is the MAS which is my favorite museum). Overall, the staff was excellent. The room was a good sized or Europe. Actually had a king bed and some room to walk around. Bed was comfortable enough...which to me if you're traveling right you should be out and not in your room much. Free wifi with a good signal. And you can use the gym at the Radisson Blu across the plaza which is a good gym (has weights in addition to treadmills and such). I'd definitely stay here again if I was in Antwerp.

The rooms on the back side facing the water and the Mas are very quiet. The staff was all very friendly and super helpful. Like some hotels in Europe, they are on a dual-climate system. That means on a certain day, the hotel flips a switch and the system in your room (and the whole hotel) goes from being AC to being heat. I checked in my room and thought it was warm. So I turned what I thought was the AC all the way up and left the room. Big mistake! When in Europe always ask about the climate control systems! The window does open, but only about an inch due to a regulation. The beds were good, not great, but better than some of my other hotels. By European standards the room is huge. Staff was very friendly and super helpful. Unlike some hotels, the free wifi has good throughput. Definitely a great option when staying in Antwerp. Be sure to ask the hotel the best route to get to old town, as the small red light district is in between, but easily avoided.
